I've 2 V6 and just got my new 360 remote. Can I update one box at a time or once you start that's it they both start to upgrade.

RobboEdin 16-03-2021 21:20

Re: Virgin TV 360 users (Horizon)

You have to update both at the same time. No mixed Horizon/TiVo configurations.

Re: Virgin TV 360 users (Horizon)

The second one should update automatically when you do the first.

BET UK is closing on 8th April on all normal broadcast platforms.

Content will continue to be available via My5 and, from 5th April, Pluto TV.

Updated my two V6 boxes to 360 on Friday. So far so good. I think it's a positive change and dont get all the negativity at all.

Re: Virgin TV 360 users (Horizon)

Its not a case of negativity as its more the case that the 360 lacks some of the V6 boxes functionality currently.

For me it's losing the series links. I have loads and while a lot of them are from shows that will never air new series, there will be still a lot to setup.

I have had the 360 software on my v6 box since the 14th April and I do like the new interface my only problems are the Sky Red Button takes you to a black screen the other problem is when fast forwarding a recording you don't get a 3 or 4 seconds return once you hit the play button , has any one else have any problems ?

I finally took the plunge and ordered the 360 software, despite my reservations. I went ahead because the profiles enable me to separate out the watchlists so my wife knows what I have selected especially for her.

My main grumble is that if you have bookmarked a whole series for later viewing, you can’t then delete the particular episode you have just watched. It will only delete the whole series, which is daft. The recordings work all right, though. Pity you can’t profile them as well, though.

Re: Virgin TV 360 users (Horizon)

I do like most parts of TiVo software on the V6, but since I bought a couple of LG TV's and Google TV (Chromecast) I found myself searching through voice, and when I go back to V6 I have to type.
It sounds crazy but I'm that used to telling Google to turn on the lights and so on, I find myself thinking about calling Virgin Media up tomorrow.

Can someone confirm what apps are now available on 360? I use YouTube, Amazon, Netflix and MTV Play the most, but do use iPlayer and YouTube Kids a fair bit too.

My recordings are quite low as I usually watch OnDemand more so I'm not worried about losing them.
Also the fact that HD versions now take the place of the SD versions, is that right?

So ITV2 HD would be on channel 115?

Thanks for any info.

MTV Play and All4 aren’t on it but the rest are

Correct the HD channels appear if they are in your package and SD is removed completely.

List taken from my 360:

Al Jazeera
BBC iPlayer
BBC Sounds
CNN
Deutsche Welle
France 24
My5
Netflix
Prime Video
RadioLine
STV Player
TV Upgrades
Vevo
VM Store
Wall Street Journal
You Tube

I believe ITV Hub is available south of the border (I'm in Scotland so it's not on my box).

Apart from All4 the only other streamers that seem to be missing, from memory, are PlutoTV (although some of its content is avaialble via My5) and MTV Play.

I used the chat service on the VM website. It's very good, and quick.

I managed to get the activation fee re-credited too. They send you a remote control (or two if you already have a couple of V6s). An activation line appears on the home screen, and when your remotes arrive, you simply click on that activation oprion and you are taken through the steps you need to take. It loads up in 30 minutes and it is all very straight forward.

The software is very different, but you will get used to it!

When you set up a profile you can give any channel any number you wish. If you watch ITV2 HD the most you could set that as number 1 and switch to it at the press of a single button - or simply say "ITV2 HD".

The SD version is removed entirely if the HD version is in your package.

In the "shared profile" the HD version takes the place of the SD version so yes, ITV2HD is at 115, ITV3HD at 117 etc. As @heavyside posted, you an renumber as you please in any profile other than the "shared" (default) profile.

Any idea if we can get the software for just one tv or does it need to go to all the v6s? I have 3 tivo v6 boxes. im fine to lose my content but my mum has probably got the same stuff saved for like 2 years haha

It only works with V6 or 360 not a mix of both

So all stay same or all move over

Though I believe that a 3 box service does/did require an engineer visit

Re: Virgin TV 360 users (Horizon)

After reading the VM forums for the first time in a while last night, and seeing how many issues people are having, such as Netflix app ending shows early, (up to 1.30 min before they actually end), unable to un-delete shows and remotes having to be replaced has made me think again.
I could put up with the above until they fix the issues but the one thing I have read and that would drive me crazy is the delayed sound which seems to drift off after a while.

Anyone have any experience of this? I use my TV speakers and sometimes my surround sysyem.

Yes my parents had the audio issue but I thought that has been resolved. There was a workaround anyway that seemed to do the trick. But can't remember what it was. I think Spiderplant made the suggestion in this very thread.

I was quite keen to try it out and I still really like it and it is a lot fresher than the Tivo interface.

My wife says she can navigate it a whole lot easier than Tivo

I like the HD channel swap and the voice instructions (which at first I thought it was gimmicky) and I use it all the time now.

Overall although their are a few features missing, I think for us that it is much better (and less cluttered)

I held off for a while which is unusual for me as I like to get new tech at release and didn't reply to my email invitation.

I remember back when I forced my ntl digital box to update to get the 'new' VirginTV black and yellow software weeks before they rolled it out and I was one of the first customers to get Tivo in Teeside.

I found myself speaking commands to Google Home to turn on lights, heating, TV's and so on, that when I type on Tivo it feels very slow.
I like that HD channels replace SD versions
and I like the look of the new modern software.

Also, I didn't pay a fee, the change hasn't altered my discounts or contract.

I hardly record much these days, I usually stream from On-demand and Apps.

Yes, there are a few features missing, and apps for now, but I'm sure new ones and updates will come to 360 in the future.

Not at the time, it often seems to go out of sync then correct itself soon after. My audio is fed through my 5-1 surround sound system so I can tweak it there as well.

Does the 360 now have a dynamic guide? I noticed that when ITV pulled the final episode of Viewpoint from the schedule at short notice it vanished from the guide and from my scheduled recordings shortly afterward. I wonder if this was the case with the V6 or TiVo.

It just co-incidence that your 360 made a callback for epg info shortly after the episode was pulled.

The epg on the 360 is as un-dynamic as the v6 tivo is/was.

My software has been updated overnight too. This looks to be a more substantial update than the previous one. There's a list of bug fixes rather than the catch-all notification of 4.31. It's good to see that the annoying bug that affected the navigation of the on-screen guide has been fixed at last. I will explore the update more thoroughly later.

For anyone missing the 'New Only' feature of the V6, the latest 4.32 update to the 360 now appears to have a similar feature. You can now 'record from this episode onwards' - or words to at effect - selected from the advanced options when setting a recording.

It could well be. I was exploring the update hoping to find an un-delete feature (I didn't) and stumbled across this.

Still no un-delete? That is taking a while to sort? :erm:

My box was on v4.30, yesterday and now shows v4.31

Had the software for a week or so now. I'm really liking it, only problem that I have noticed is 3.2.1 sound on my surround system doesn't always change from 2.0 when on MTV Live and Cinema channels. I haven't had a chance to see why.

For anyone missing the 'New Only' feature of the V6, the latest 4.32 update to the 360 now appears to have a similar feature. You can now 'record from this episode onwards' - or words to at effect - selected from the advanced options when setting a recording.

Pardon my ignorance, but does this in any way solve the series link situation? I don't want to upgrade my V6s until the series link option is on a par with how it works at present.

Sit it out. Always thought that one should NEVER jump in on anything new . Let the early users sort out the faults. :D

It resolves the problem of older series being recorded on the series link when you only want the new stuff. Is that what you meant?

Pretty much, I only want to record new episodes but have the option to access previous episodes I may have missed. I'll still hang on for a while before upgrading as I have quite a few programmes to watch that I don't want to lose when upgrading.

Well, although the ‘new’ label doesn’t appear on the 360, you can set to record ‘only from this episode’, so that resolves that particular problem, I think.

It’s worth checking to see whether the recordings you don’t want to lose include those same programmes on demand. I have found the majority of the content I lost when changing the software and will catch up with what isn’t currently available when it appears again, either as a repeat or when it appears on Netflix or Prime.

The 'NEW' label had nothing to do with the new episode recording logic of the V6 - it was all done with air dates.

You want a Features/Fixes Change-List like was provided a few posts/pages ago?

I'm sure someone can find one. I've no idea where the last one came from, probably a manufacturer posting or a Horizon rollout in Europe.

They normally come from the Ziggo website although they're still on 4.31 there. Someone will likely post up via Google Translate once their site has been updated.

Upgraded my V6 to 360 yesterday. Any idea why there's another BT Sport 2 on channel 532? Says it's off air, however the other BT Sport 2 on channel 528 is broadcasting as normal.

It's for the Women's Champions League Final tomorrow, to make it available for those who don't subscribe to the normal BT channels.

Message on my 360 this morning saying the standby light has changed from blue to red. This I am glad of, because the blue was next to impossible to see at times

Quick question.
My TV packed in, only have HP monitor for now.
How do I set the 360 screen size to auto without being able to see the screen

To clarify. I assume the monitor has a highest resolution that is lower than the last setting you had it on before the TV died? As otherwise I'd expect the monitor to show something.

My 360 boxes have been updated to software version 4.33 overnight. There are no noticeable differences that I can see. Unless I'm missing something (quite possible) any changes and/or improvements must be behind the scenes.

The third episode of ‘Until We Die’ from Channel 4 hasn’t been added to the ‘on demand’ system on the 360, annoyingly.

Does it appear on the V6s?

"Before We Die" on the V6 - episodes 1,2,4,5,6 are available; no episode 3.
