Re: Football Season 2016/2017

Came across this before http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...overin1998.jpg :(

Down to 11th in 2004, 18th on last check, dropping out of the top 20 and 30 on a few occasions.

Bad ownership, bad management decisions, bad transfer dealings, underachieving. The slow death of a football club that early on challenged for the Premier League title, slowly fading into being a top four club instead, then fading into a Uefa Cup club and then a mid table club followed by a struggling for survival club. :erm:

Can't forget Leeds United of course.

Oh and they never leapfrogged Juventus in the end as expected for those wondering. 5th was the highest ever.

If it is true and not just the media making mischief...the contract runs to the end of the 18/19 season.

Tell him to just stay at home and do nowt for 2 1/2 years...players want to play after all.

Time to send a message, a contract is a contract, don't like it don't sign it.

If only, :(

Whilst I don't want a return to the maximum wage days the power of so called 'agents' does need properly regulating and restricting. Why any player at the top of his game would want to play in China as opposed to the top European leagues just for the money, considering the vast sums they already earn is beyond me.

It's like asking Rembrant or Da Vinci to paint your outside loo for silly money joke football, instead of real painting.

When they're already worth tens of millions, surely an extra few makes no difference, that's like offering me a tenner.

And in most cases a substantial pay rise includes a better job, better conditions etc. Not a huge drop in the quality of the working environment and the standards required.

Must have missed the earlier sarc post I made, you don't question the mythical man that is pep, the man that turned minnows like Barcelona and Bayern into winning teams.

Fun lol of the week: Mike Dean was demoted to Championship duty for his poor showing. He then awarded a penalty for a handball outside the box in that game. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/4160/...er-demotion-to

Re: Football Season 2016/2017

Now that was lucky! Burnley must be sick of the sight of Arsenal now. Twice losing with at the last moment, even more brutal after they thought they had done the reverse.

It was a red card, it was a penalty to Burnley, it would probably a penalty for us too although it was borderline offside. We had the luckiest of the decisions there. No idea why Wenger thinks he has any grounds to complain about their penalty. Stupid to lose his temper over that.

adzii_nufc 22-01-2017 17:43

Re: Football Season 2016/2017

For a guy that never see's the incidents, he did a cracking job of complaining about it. It was offside, but in fairness, earlier decisions that went the wrong way merely leveled themselves out.

It's natural. He's only 21, he'll only get better. The only thing off with him was the price tag. Icardi is already clinical and would've been available cheaper. Although you're not still sour over Martial and his welcome to English football via Liverpool are you? You know which one I'm talking about? The one where he obliterated the Liverpool defender and swiped it home. :D

Jose is Jose though and his reputation with youth isn't fantastic.

Leicester city should really be considering the reality they might get relegated if they continue this way.

Re: Football Season 2016/2017

After a bumpy few weeks with a cryptic message from Benitez, Mike Ashley has pledged silly money for Newcastle upon promotion. I hope it's not as silly as that £30 million punt at two teenage Croatians the other week. :erm:

I swear people are so out of touch with fans now. We couldn't care less how much someone cost, we ask for a team that makes an effort, we've been a team that threw money at every issue and it got worse, we've been a team that tried to turn £2 million players into double figures and that failed too. A stable manager with a stable team that spends money reliably is far more suited.

Good news, this will be my third visit in less than a year, always stay at my brothers in Woking for a couple of days before and after. Saints have 14 days rest before the final, United have to play three games.

As long as no serious injuries are suffered I think I would prefer to play live matches than not for two weeks.

Can't disagree with you there Jim.

Vardy deliberately injuring VVD is a huge blow for us but hopefully we will still give you guys a good game. :)

Not so Den, merely stating a fact and then adding that personally I wouldn't like two weeks of non competitive action beforehand. Hardly an excuse is it?

Well deserved point for Burnley, great performance.

PS, Arthur is keeping quiet, just wondering how he will blame the ref for yesterday. :D

Given your pathetic surrender to Arsenal in the FA Cup hope you get an absolute tonking.

At least 6 or 7 nil
