On the tram going home from Old Trafford, not the best of games but a win is all that matters. The ref was a joke most of the yellow cards he gave United were not even fouls. All those cards could come back to haunt them. Still it's Manchester 2 Germany nil, are you watching London. :)

Not the ones who attend Old Trafford, a higher percentage of season ticket holders from Mcr post codes that City for a start., but who am I to bother trying to dispel myths. :)

I assume you mean Arsenal alone? given that Chelsea are also on 3 points after 2 games with a higher goal difference, sorry Arsenal :D

It was a light hearted dig about this weeks performances, one thing that did worry me is just how tired the United players looked in the last 15/20 minutes, good news for Arsenal with the extra days rest possibly.

There's nothing he can do to rectify the worst defence in the league over the past few years, people have to question why it was a known fact yet left alone in the summer. One defender doesn't replace the other two awful ones. We expected this scoreline, it was inevitable that we'd come up again a trigger happy team.

Aguero was on to break the 5 goal record there, what a load of cack.

Newcastle were on top at one point in this game. They could have gone a few goals up after the first goal. Aguero has literally shown them how to be clinical infront of goal second half. Kevin De Bruyne with a decent finish too.

Newcastles goal wasn't bad by the way. City got sucked out wide leaving Mitrovic alone infront of goal. Newcastle made it happen even if City are to blame for leaving Mitrovic alone in the box.

Don't remind me, that season was an exact copy of the Liverpool campaign push the other year. One big team, one former big team. both destined to never win the Premier League, the other also destined to never see a cup again.

Then again, you're talking about a Newcastle team that just happened to constantly have the best strikers in the Premier League, most of which then went on to be the Best strikers the league's ever seen. I think it got to 2000 and we saw the first changes in the game and Newcastle didn't mimic it, they just went down hill.

You look back and think, Shearer and Cole in the same team? Ferdinand? Ginola, how on earth haven't you picked up a trophy along the way there. Two cup finals and a 2nd place finish.

Not wishing to be rude in any way, I for one would love to see Newcastle up towards the top as I have a close relative who is a big Toon fan, but how do you define a 'big' team, Newcastle are certainly a big team in terms of their brilliant, long suffering supporters but I can't think of any other reason to call them a big team, unless you are going back to the very early 1900's. ?

Mourinho seemed to go a bit nuts over the summer though. He started lashing out at people more than usual and did so when there was no cause or reason for it. Usually he does it deflect from something or wind people up but here it just seemed like he was in a bad mood.

Ah, I define it all different, I class United, Chelsea, Arsenal and co as massive teams or mega clubs, anyone else in a good financial situation, European football, decent supporter base and good stadium I'd put down as a big team. Newcastle are neither and by former, I refer to the 90's and early 2000's under my definition.

Now it's a case of having a ridiculous amount of money but an absolute mess of a club on a whole. They're talking about adding 10,000 seats to the stadium and that'll take it up to 62,000 but I just don't get it anymore, that or I just don't see the point anymore.

By your own definition of big team you're right though, I just wasn't clear enough first. Sorry to Liverpool too, I just see what used to be a massive team that's just disappearing pretty quickly :(

He won't get the boot. Famous last words I suppose but it'd cost them well over £50 million to sack him I reckon, and we seem to be a bit more frugal with cash these days.....Until the next two windows anyway. He's obviously after a fine and/or a ban to put the attention on himself again. We've added nowhere near enough competition to last years squad in my opinion, and it's showing by the awful displays. And whilst Falcao was already on the way down, if he was English he'd have been "Anticipating" contact and entitled to do it ;) Never mind, Villa next so we'll probably help them kick start their season. We're just being helpful you see....

Blimey. A difference between a draw and a loss. Shocked he went after a draw.

If Klopp is brought in he'll no doubt be chasing a top 4 finish at the very least but with the EPL sides failing in the CL thus far because of the strength of the EPL wont it be counter-productive to strengthen lol I'm not in any way advocating the EPL shouldn't be strengthened further but the EPL has to rethink its approach in Europe or the league itself.

It's not based on one match though, he may have gone even if Liverpool had won.

A Poland loss to ROI and a 20-0 win over Gibraltar should send them to the Euro's playoffs. :erm:

Woops, Scotland are staying in Scotland

ROI and Poland to essentially have a playoff for the automatic qualification, a draw would send Poland through and ROI into the playoffs if Germany don't lose.

Complicated stuff:

If Germany lose 2-0 to Georgia. both the ROI and Poland can go through with a point each.
If Germany gain a point or all three at Georgia, ROI have to beat Poland to automatically qualify, a draw would also see Poland qualify and ROI again in the playoffs.

Interesting to note that their own result plus the ROI vs Poland game can actually see Germany end up third.

The best third place team in the competition automatically qualify too, I haven't calculated that yet on the possibilities of who it could be.

Format claims goal difference doesn't come first, instead it's head to head results against the tied teams. I have no idea, neither does the BBC.

Ukraine are likely to be the 3rd place qualifiers.

Just to de-tangle what surely must be one of the most complicated qualification scenarios in football ever, here's where we are in Group D.

Republic of Ireland and Poland play in Warsaw in both teams' final match on Sunday.

A draw would leave both teams on 19 points.

Germany currently lead the group on 19 points, but will be expected to beat Georgia at home in their final game.

If though, all three teams end up on 19 points, both Poland and Republic of Ireland have better head-to-head records than Germany, and both would finish above them.

As to who finishes higher between Poland and Republic of Ireland if both teams finish on 19 points, here's how it works:

A 0-0 draw in Warsaw means Poland go through - they will have scored more away goals in meetings between the two sides.

A 1-1 draw in Warsaw means Poland go through - they have a better goal difference of the two sides.

A draw of 2-2 or higher would mean Republic of Ireland go through - as they will have scored more away goals in meetings between the two sides.

You've won the league this season already just be appointing him if you read what some people have to say.

It will be interesting to see how long he gets and if you're 6 points off the top this time next year if he will be sacked like Rodgers...
