Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?

Frank Warrens' letter to the BBBofC has been leaked online:

"Dear Mr Smith,

I refer to the press release which you issued earlier this week in which you state that any member of the British Boxing Board of Control who participates in the Haye v. Chisora fight “will be deemed to have terminated” both his membership of your Board and his licence. As you know I am Dereck Chisora’s manager and even if I am not at the fight I will be ‘participating’ in accordance with your definition of this word in the press release.

I write to make two complaints about your press release. The first is that there are no substantive grounds to revoke my licence and the second is that you have not properly complied with any procedural requirements.

Substantive Grounds
Under Rule 4.12 of your own Rules and Regulations, as a licence holder I can participate “(a) in or at a Promotion which is licensed by the BBBofC; or (b) in or at a Promotion organised by a Federation, Commission, Association or Controlling Authority affiliated to, or recognised by the BBBofC”. The Federation Luxembourgoise De Boxe is a Federation affiliated to and recognised by the Board; both are affiliated to the EBU. As that Federation is sanctioning the Haye v. Chisora fight, my participation is not a breach of your Rules.

You have not communicated your complaint to me at all, but in the press statement your concern appears to be that a member who participates in the Haye v. Chisora fight would “bring the sport of boxing into disrepute”. As I say, were the Board to really consider that I was bringing the sport into disrepute then I would expect you to have set out the charges against me by letter and with a level of particularity.

I cannot see how I can be bringing boxing into disrepute for the following reasons (which list is not exhaustive):

* It cannot be because the fight is unlicensed, because it is licensed by a Federation older than the Board, affiliated to the EBU and which has the same medical provisions, testing, safety provisions and insurance as the Board;

* It cannot be because David Haye is fighting and is not licensed by the Board. If this were the case, you would object to almost every fight taking place overseas. Indeed, I note that the Board has not complained that the WBA is bringing the sport into disrepute, despite that organisation licensing Mayweather’s fight even though he has a conviction for domestic violence;

* It cannot be because Dereck Chisora is not licensed by the Board, for the reasons above. Also, if the Board did consider that Mr Chisora should not fight again, it would have banned him for life. Instead it withdrew his licence but invited him to apply for a licence with the Board or with another sanctioning body when he wished to do so;

* It cannot be because of safety reasons. Not just because the Federation has the same procedures as the Board, but also because the Board took no sanction against Promoter Barry Hearn after he ignored the Board’s refusal to grant Julian Jackson a licence to fight in the UK against Herol Graham and staged the fight in Spain. Indeed, the Board supplied officials for that fight and gained financially. Further, whilst the Board has been found guilty of negligence (in relation to Michael Watson), the Federation has had no such decisions against it;

*It cannot be because there is a fight sanctioned in the UK by the Luxembourg Federation. This is because the Board has licensed fights in other jurisdictions, as have many other Federations and Associations and because of the principle of free trade across Europe.

Procedural Grounds
If in fact you really did consider that I, a licensee, is guilty of misconduct because of my ‘participation’ in the Haye v. Chisora fight, then you need still to comply with Rule 25. The Board would need to send me a formal complaint and require me to answer it and attend before the Board. You have not done so.

My Complaint
My concern is that by issuing the threat contained in your press release you are trying to stop me from being involved in a legitimate and lawful fight governed by another Federation and to interfere with my freedom to work and to earn a living. I am worried that you have taken this decision not because you are really concerned about the fight (for the reasons I set out above) but because you are fearful that you will lose your monopoly in the UK.

I require written confirmation that you will not seek to take away my licence if I remain Dereck Chisora’s manager. As you have catapulted this issue into the press, then I consider it is reasonable for me to seek your confirmation by close of business on Wednesday 16 May 2012. If I do not receive your confirmation then you will receive a formal complaint from my solicitors followed by proceedings (including injunctive relief should they consider it necessary and appropriate). Of course there may well be issues of costs and damages associated with your actions and I put you on notice that I will be seeking these also if so advised.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards,

Frank"

I had read rumours that he was to face Paul Appleby in an "exhibition bout" in the Gorbals at the weekend but it didn't go ahead. Basically it was a glorified sparring session.

No official word on his ring return as of yet.

Just received the latest newsletter from Boxnation which confirms "Even if you're not subscribed to BoxNation (but are on Sky or Virgin TV), you can watch Buncey's boxing hour at 7.30pm every Monday night."

I also note that leading up to Mayweather Vs. Cotto Virgin viewers could watch Boxnation free all day on the Saturday up until about 9:30pm. I know on SKY Boxnation most days is not encrypted for about 8 hours and becomes encrypted later at night.

Does anyone know if Virgin now offers Boxnation unencrypted through the day? I can't tell as I subscribe to the channel.

I can't believe how much negativity this fight is getting. For me Joey Barton's behaviour last week against Manchester City was way worse than what we saw in Germany between Haye and Chisora, yet the Barton incident has almost vanished from public consciousness. Barton assaulted 3 players in front of almost 48,000 fans. The incident was broadcast live to an audience over 100 million. Makes the scuffle between Haye and Chisora look like child's play.

That's the WBC who's current welterweight champion has a prison sentence for domestic violence.

This has nothing to do with bringing the sport into disrepute and everything to do with the BBBoC trying to ensure that they can keep a monopoly on fights fought in this country. If people can fight on UK soil without a license from the BBBoC then people may look elsewhere in Europe for cheaper licensing.

Sadly for the BBBoC they don't have a case, European law means that they can say what they like, but they can't carry it out.

You're joking right?
As much as I dislike Barton he did pretty much nothing last week. "Assaulted 3 players", oh come off it. His sending off was borderline, Tevez got away with "assaulting" (if we're going to throw that word around for just touching people these days) Barton first, Barton barely elbowed him. Sure, he kicked a guy in the leg, I'll give you a minor assault for that one, and then mouthed off a bit and squared up to everyone he could. It was hardly like he went on a spree of throwing punches. Yeah he's a sorry excuse for a human, but saying that was worse than what happened between Haye and Chisora?
Where multiple punches were thrown, one of them involving a bottle, where Haye hit his own trainer over the head with a tripod when attempting to smack Chisora with it? Come on.

I'm sorry but you're a complete idiot if you think what Barton did is anything in comparison to an actual fight kicking off where one of the people got hit with a bottle, and someone else got their head cut open by a tripod.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. In this subject we clearly don't agree. What I do find unacceptable however is you calling me a complete idiot based on the opinion I've formed:td:

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, however opinions aren't all equally valid.

If people put forward opinions that aren't grounded in reality then they should be called out on it. If you want to go around calling an elephant a mouse then you're free to do so. In your opinion it might be a mouse. Just don't be surprised if people look at you like you've got a few screws loose when you do, because just because it's an opinion doesn't mean you can't be wrong.

Scots boxing champion Scott Harrison faces more Spanish jail time

May 20 2012 Exclusive by Gerard Couzens, Sunday Mail

Scott Harrison

SHAMED boxing champ Scott Harrison has been ordered to return to Spain for a new assault trial that could see him jailed for another six years.

The fighter has been told to appear in a Costa del Sol court in September to face claims he attacked three men at a brothel.

Prosecutors want him jailed for two years for each of the three counts of assault he is charged with.

A conviction would automatically mean more prison time as he already has a criminal record in Spain. Harrison, 34, served two-and-a-half years for assaulting two men, including a police officer.

He returned to Scotland after being released last September.

A second custodial sentence in Spain would wreck his hopes of a triumphant return to boxing.

The ex-WBO featherweight champ is due to make his comeback against French-Algerian Brahim Bariz at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow on June 29 after seven years out of the ring.

Three judges will decide whether to jail Harrison after a one-day trial in Malaga on September 26.

The prosecution witnesses will include a brothel owner who claims the boxer and two pals attacked him and two customers in a bust-up five years ago.

One of the alleged victims committed suicide after the fight at Oxigeno, a short drive from Harrison’s repossessed former home in Alhaurin el Grande, near Malaga.

State prosecutors say Harrison and fellow Scots David and Edward McGill smashed Spaniard Salvador Jimenez on the head with an ashtray after being thrown out of the brothel on May 20, 2007.

An assault outside is alleged to have taken place as Salvador’s friend Rafael Sainz tried to get him to hospital.

Rafael, 31, jumped off a roof terrace at his home in 2009 after spiraling into depression, which pals blame on the attack.

Salvador received treatment for injuries to his neck, head, knees and wrist. Brothel owner Francisco Gonzalez lost a tooth.

Prosecutors also want Harrison and his two pals to pay £8500 in compensation to their alleged victims if convicted.

He spent two days in custody earlier this month in Glasgow after being arrested over claims he assaulted fiancee Stacey Gardner, 29, at their home.

But Harrison says he has banished the drink, drug and depression demons that have plagued him in recent years.

Earlier this month, he said: “Scott Harrison is going to be back – with a bang.”

It's more bad news for Frank Warren.

According to Phil Kirkbride of the Liverpool ECHO, Tony Bellew’s solicitors have stated that as of today, the British light-heavyweight champion's contract with Frank Warren Promotions Limited has come to an end at the fighter’s request.

Bellew's team have told the ECHO that FWP has received notification of this through email and a hard copy is in the post. Bellew now considers himself free to sign a deal with a new promoter.

However, as was the case when James DeGale announced through his solicitors that he was spillting with Warren back in January, the promoter insists Bellew remains contracted both to his promotional company, and him as his manager.

In a statement to the ECHO, FWP responded:

“Tony Bellew has a legally binding and exclusive promotional agreement with Frank Warren Promotions Ltd.

“In addition to that he has a British Boxing Board of Control Boxer-Manager agreement with Frank Warren."

“Tony Bellew is not at liberty to determine (sic) either contract without going through the proper channels as per the terms of those agreements. Unless and until he brings a successful challenge then they remain in full force and effect.

“Needless to say, any attempt to ignore either binding agreement or to pre-determine the same will be defended by Frank Warren and Frank Warren Promotions Ltd.”

Bellew has previously stated that it was a 'dream come true' to be back on Sky when he defended his British title against Danny McIntosh last month on a card promoted by David Coldwell and Matchroom.

He said: “It’s great being back on Sky Sports, it’s a dream. There are great fighters out there that are dying because they don’t have a profile and when you are on Sky Sports, that’s what you get, and you need that to fight for the big titles and money, which is where I think I should be.”

Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?

I'm getting excitied about Froch Vs. Bute.

Bute looks in fantastic condition and looks super confident. If his foot injury has healed 100% then Froch is going to find it very tough. At the moment I fancy Bute to win on points however I might change my point of view once I've watched the ring entrances. If Froch's fans turn the arena into a cauldron, Bute might just crack a little under the pressure. 20 of Bute's last 22 fights have been in Canada with the other 2 fights taking place in his home nation of Romania. It's been 8 years since he truly fought on foreign soil being America against a guy with a heavy losing record. Maybe the lack of big fight experience abroad, of fighting in front of a hostile crowd could be the key to Bute losing.

I'm seriously worried about the power Bute has in his left, especially to the body. As long as I've been watching him, Froch has always had a sloppy defense when it comes to his body. I've watched Bute about 11 times with 6 of those fights ending with body shots.

May the best man win.

Looks like Premier Sports have landed a deal with FOX in America for boxing content.

They are showing Beibut Shumenov Vs. Enrique Ornelas this weekend. Their website also shows they have picked up 6 Goldenboy Promotions shows, 1 per month, through to the end of the year. Again all of these shows are being televised by FOX. Makes me very confused about the exclusive deal Boxnation have with Goldenboy.

Also noticed that Premier Sports have been picking up shows recently from NBC in the States on tape delay. The showed Zab Judahs latest outing a couple of months back. Pretty sure they'll pick up Tomasz Adamek Vs. Eddie Chambers in 3 weeks time.

Whilst Boxnation are doing a great job, surely they should be picking these type of cards on the cheap showing them on a Sunday morning or Sunday evening on tape delay. I've said it before they should try and pick up action from the likes of Japan, South Africa or even Australia. It doesn't have to be live, and shouldn't be expensive to pick up.

June is looking very good.

We've also got:

20th June: Prizefighter International Heavyweights II (SKY)

22nd June: Mike Dallas Jr. Vs. Javier Castro (ESPN)

Noticed people asking on Boxnations Facebook page if they are showing Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Vs. Andy Lee on the 16th June. Boxnation confirmed no British broadcaster has picked up the fight yet.....

Ortiz Vs. Lopez is definitely on SKY. They have it listed in their up coming fixture list for next month.

Boxnation like double headers. On the 30th June when Groves takes on Anderson, Roy Jones Jr. is over in Poland facing Dawid Kostecki. Wonder if Boxnation will pick that up?

That's not good news for boxing fans with Virgin. Gary Shaw was one of the first promoters to sign a broadcast deal with Premier Sports, and as far as I know is still on good terms. Let's hope these big fights don't end up on Premier Sports.

Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?

Yesterday Frank Warren issued the following statement:

"The British Boxing Board of Control had an embarrassing climb down today - withdrawing its threat to automatically terminate all of its members’ licences if they participate in the Haye v Chisora fight.

I still take the Board’s threat to call me to account for my role in the fight as Dereck Chisora’s manager as unlawful. The Board seems to have pre-judged the issue without hearing the point of view of any of its members and this is just wrong. I intend to issue proceedings next week and will support all other licence holders who feel intimidated into not participating in the Haye v Chisora promotion.

I may not be the only one suing the Board. The Board has also stopped fighters such as Kevin Mitchell, who I also manage, from fighting on the undercard. This is such a shame as Kevin was looking forward to fighting in front of the crowd at West Ham and it would have been great for the fans to see him again. He is asking the Board to re-consider and it may be forced to do so rather than face proceedings from Kevin for the purse he would have earned together with the lost opportunity to fight in front of 40,000 people."

Today however the European Boxing Union suspended the membership of the Luxembourg Boxing Federation. It is thought that the suspension will become an expulsion should the Luxembourg Boxing Federation sanction the proposed match between David Haye and Dereck Chisora.

Should the EBU no longer recognise the Luxembourg Boxing Federation, the legitimacy of any promotion they choose to sanction would be severely compromised.

This is becoming a total mess. If the boxing forum rumours are true, Frank Warren seriously needs this fight to go ahead to secure the short term future of Frank Warren Promotions. Cash flow and fighters not being paid are allegedly major problems at the moment. We might be seeing the beginning of the end for Frank Warren and Boxnation :(

Just a little warning to anyone planning on purchasing tonight's PPV.

I've now heard from 2 sources that the main event isn't going to start before 11:00pm Las Vegas time tonight. We here in the UK are currently 8 hours ahead of Vegas. That means the fight isn't going to start until between 7am and 8am here in the UK! Apparently Pacman is taking in a game of baseball before he fights tonight. This of course might all be a rumour however be prepared for a very long night.

Boxnation might not have been able to afford it so soon after landing Mayweather Vs. Cotto.

I was reading some interesting posts in a forum earlier this week from Primetime live themselves. Other posters were attacking them for keeping the PPV market alive and calling £14.99 a disgrace when Boxnation is only £10.00 per month. Primetime replied stating it's not them who set the price, it was Pacman's promoter Bob Arum. It was then suggested Bob Arum would only sell the fight to a UK broadcaster if the fight was shown on a PPV basis. If true SKY and Boxnation didn't have a chance.

It should be interesting to see the viewing figures for the fight here in the UK. There seems to be a lot of heat from UK boxing fans suggesting they will boycott the event in an attempt to kill off PPV and Primetime. Must admit it's hard for Primetime to justify £14.99 for a one off event that you can't even record to your TiVo or V+ box plus it's copy protected so you can't even record the show externally if you have a DVD recorder.

That fight with Harrison should go ahead 100%. As far as I know he is working with Scottish promoter Tommy Gilmour.

Sorry I made a misatke. Harrison has signed with Alex Morrison, not Tommy Gilmour.

http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/b...6908-23809446/

Alex Morrison is also the manager of Ricky Burns so it's not unrealistic to suggest both could be sharing a ring soon. It would be a massive fight for Glasgow.

I can't remember if I've posted this already but this documentary on Scott Harrison from 2009 is a great watch:

It's looking good for Andy Lee Vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. being on BoxNation this Saturday. See the below SKY TV listings for Sunday morning at 2am:

http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/8...yyyyyyyyyy.jpg

Premier Sports are showing Tomasz Adamek vs. Eddie Chambers live from 2am so we know they haven't picked up Lee Vs. Chavez Jr. Plus with both Lee and Bob Arum appearing on the Bunce Hour it's almost a cert!

According to Boxnation, Buncey (Steve Bunce) was FTA on BoxNation tonight at 7.30pm on Sky and Virgin Media.

- Was this a one off, or is it a regular thing?

- Do they really mean FTA, or is this FTV?

I ask because not many channels are FTA on Virgin Media and I believe that, unlike Sky, for some reason, it is problematic for VM to keep turning encryption on and off.

Yeah they've been posting the following on Facebook now for about 5 weeks:

"Don't forget to check out Steve Bunce on BoxNation tonight at 7.30pm. Sky channel 456, Virgin channel 546 and free to air, so even if you don't have BoxNation you can tune in."

So to answer your questions I believe you can watch the Steve Bunce show every Monday on a free to view basis. It's only the live show you can watch and not the repeat later on at night. I've yet to see a Virgin customer, who doesn't subscribe to BoxNation, post on Facebook or Twitter to suggest they couldn't access the show.

Poor show. The quality of the fights shown has dipped in the past few weeks. Not much to look forward too in the next 6 weeks other than Haye Vs. Chisora. The boxing season ends in July and doesn't start until September. Will be interesting to see what Boxnation do to keep subscribers.

Haven't seen any proof yet however boxing forums are buzzing today suggesting Frank Maloney, just like Ricky Hatton, has been dropped by SKY. This means guys like David Price, Tony Jeffries and Brian Rose are currently without TV coverage.

Surprisingly Channel 5 seem to be the favourites to land deals with Maloney and Hatton. Recent boxing on 5 has been a major success however Mick Hennessy doesn't have a deep enough roster of fighters to fulfill the amount of shows Channel 5 would like to put out.

Personally I'd like to see Hatton and Maloney team up with Boxnation.

Comments from boxing fans so far include:

"useless Greek embarrassment"

"can he not be used as a punch bag"

"Box nation, quality channel with quality boxing. Why the **** would you ever think of bringing that idiot dappy into the fold, talk about lowering your usually high standards box nation. shame on whoever thought this would be a good idea"

Allegedly Boxrec and Frank Warren have butted heads on a few occassions. Allegedly Frank Warren has threatened to sue Boxrec due to rumours, lies, allegations and untruths posted about him and his promotion company in their forum section. As a result Boxrec tend to change any reference to Frank Warren and BoxNation to Allegedly Promoter and Allegedly Channel to avoid and further confrontation. I don't know if this is 100% true but it's the answer I got when I asked the question a few months back.

Another thing you might notice about Boxrec is they never publish any positive news about Frank Warren or BoxNation. In fact when BoxNation launched Boxrec gave it no coverage at all. The only time Boxrec publish anything is when it's to the determent of Frank Warren. So if a fighter leaves his stable, someone issues a winding up order against him or a Boxnation show is cancelled you will be able to read all about it in the Boxrec news section!

David Price will fight in Atlantic City on July 27th after revealing the news on his Twitter account.

The good news for us XL customers is we should see the fight! David Price has been confirmed on the undercard of Hank Lundy Vs. Raymundo Beltran, which is being televised by ESPN.

Whilst Maloney being dumped by SKY still hasn't been confirmed, it would certainly seem Price fighting on ESPN brings his SKY to an end an abrupt ending. Looks like the extension to the contract didn't get done after all.

It's certainly not helping BoxNation, and more importantly not helping us fans. Boxrec is the go to place for boxing stats, info and up coming fixtures and to simply omit information regarding the world's only dedicated boxing channel seems nuts.

It's the sign of a smart company who have learned from previous mistakes.

When Chisora faced Klitschko Boxnation were hit with 30,000 people trying to subscribe in the 24 hours leading up to the fight. Boxnation couldn't handle the demand. They decided to show the fight for free which resulted in hundreds of complaints from paying customers. They are trying to avoid a repeat of this and have been telling people who might subscribe for next weeks fight NOT to leave it to the last minute.

Boxnation have been advertising the £10.00 registration charge on their Facebook page, their website, Twitter, The Bunce Boxing Hour and The Sun newspapers for weeks. They have been completely open and honest about the introduction of this charge.

The £10.00 charge is not applicable to Virgin customers. SKY customers can get 2 months of Boxnation for £10.00 by going to www.boxnation.com and enter the promotional code SUNBOXING. The discount offer ends at 11.59pm on July 6.

Here is the statement Boxnation released on the Monday after the fight:

"There was an issue on Saturday evening with taking online bookings for the Vitali Klitschko v Dereck Chisora World Boxing Council (WBC) World Heavyweight title fight.

Due to unprecedented demand for orders, the pay system experienced technical problems just after 7pm and some further bookings were unable to be taken.

As a result, we understand that many customers went through a stressful period of attempting to subscribe unsuccessfully and so, as a gesture to those customers, the live fight was made available free to watch on BoxNation on the Sky platform. The problem did not affect viewers who had ordered on the Virgin platform.

BoxNation apologizes for the problems customers encountered and will fully investigate the matter so that these do not happen again."

When the registration fee comes in, this won't encourage people to sign up early before the next peak time, as it will already in place.

Maybe the registration fee increase is going to be introduced about a week before the next big fight, to encourage people to subscribe early again??

Looks like they are over complicating things. Still if potential new Virgin customers get in now they won't be stung.

"Furthermore, any Sky TV users who subscribe after 6pm on July 14th will be charged a late booking surcharge which will increase based on demand."

That is just mental. SKY customers who leave it to the last minute will be charged £10.00 registration fee + £10.00 subscription fee plus an extra late booking fee. If people are leaving it too late they could end up paying about £25.00!

should be picked up by boxnation!

George Groves will return to the ring in the United States at the end of the month.

The British and Commonwealth super-middleweight champion takes on Mexican Francisco Sierra in San Jose on July 28 on the undercard of the WBC welterweight title fight between Robert Guerrero and Selcuk Aydin.

A series of last-minute injuries have kept Groves idle since his victory over Paul Smith in November, and the unbeaten Londoner is desperate to get his career back on track.

"It is more relief than anything now that I finally have a date to box," Groves told his own website.

"It feels like a lifetime since I last fought and I need to make up for lost time seeing as I haven't managed one round of competitive fighting this year!

"Francisco Sierra is a very seasoned and tenacious fighter. He packs a punch and has a typical 'no holds barred' Mexican style. I can't wait to face this test, and finally show all the improvements I have made this year."

Sierra, the same age as Groves at 24, has been in with Edison Miranda during a 31-fight career featuring five defeats.

Robert Guerrero Vs. Selcuk Aydin is a Goldenboy show so it looks like Boxnation will snap this up. I've watched Selcuk Aydin about 4 times on Eurosport in the past couple of years. He's a tough big punching Turk who is making the jump up to the top level against Guerrero. Should be fun whilst it lasts however can't see Aydin picking up the win.

£13.50 per admission for adults. Cheaper than booking it through SKY and Virgin plus it'll be a night out to remember. Live boxing isn't shown in the cinema often at all.

The amount of broadcast revenue this fight is going to make is simply astounding. This will set up Frnak Warren and Boxnation for some time to come.

When Haye and Chisora clashed in Germany Warren probably saw £££ in front of his eyes straight away. Both Haye and Chisora might never get a British boxing license ever again. Whilst both are being used by the promoter, both fighters are set to make a ton of cash that will see them okay for the rest of their lives. Chisora recently has been picking up pay cheques for losing performances. Everyone is a winner here, apart for the British Boxing Board of Control.

Yeah saw that myself. Buncey and Lillis both mentioned last night that Brian Rose is a good lad. Brian is a Maloney fighter too. Would be great to have Maloney and his stable on Boxnation. Not many people will agree with me but Warren and Maloney are my 2 favourite promoters. I enjoy listening to both of them talking about the sport.

Frank Warren has just told Ian Payne on LBC that the system crashed earlier today, because of the number of people wanting to see the Haye v Chisora fight!

Not happy with this at all! I don't like MMA and don't want it on my boxing channel:

http://www.ultimatewarriorchallenge.co.uk/

"BoxNation and Ultimate Warrior Challenge have completed an exclusive Partnership Agreement to promote Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) as a core discipline. The increased coverage of Combat Sports for BoxNation provides a more comprehensive Channel for Fight Entertainment which is now unparalleled within the UK. Ultimate Warrior Challenge will continue its drive as the number 1 MMA promotion in Europe benefitting from the platform of BoxNation.
Frank Warren, BoxNation: "Boxing will always be my first love but there is no doubting the growing popularity of MMA and when you see the phenomenal fitness and technique required to be a top performer in MMA it is not hard to understand why. The sport is massive in the U.S. but BoxNation wanted to support and develop a home grown British series and this is why we have partnered with Ultimate Warrior Challenge. Having MMA on the channel adds to the already significant boxing content we bring to our UK audiences creating an unrivalled level of premium fight sport content and major live events – that is good news for everyone."
Tara Brady, Ultimate Warrior Challenge: "UWC already has the pedigree as one of the longest professional serving MMA promotion with the highest quality fights within Europe. This partnership is another demonstration of the continued growth of MMA in Europe. I am excited to be working with Frank and BoxNation in such an important phase of the MMA growth within the UK" About BoxNation - www.boxnation.com

Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?

Boxnation tweeted that 13 oil rigs signed up to the channel so their workers could watch the fight!

It has also been suggested that Tris Dixon, editor of Boxing News, commented that just over 700,000 people watched Haye Vs. Chisora via Boxnation on Saturday. I'm yet to find the actual direct quote from Tris. There had been rumours that Haye Vs. Chisora did better than Froch Vs. Bute which achieved just over 650,000 viewers.

Looks like Boxnation might have a very bright future. I would now like Boxnation to try and secure further output deals with the likes of Top Rank and Gary Shaw.

Totally agree. Boxnation show great international fights but their British shows aren't the best. Multiple British promoters on board should really help the quality of the British shows.

I'd like to see more boxing on the channel before I subscribe, even if it's lots of smaller fights from the UK and Germany for example.
