The Weakest Arsenal side in years is getting hammered out there.

It is the weakest Arsenal side as a consequence of leaving our transfer activity so late, the injuries to Gibbs, Vermaelen, Sagna and Wilshere and the suspensions of Gervinho and Song. Hopefully we will have some signings before wednesday and the international (not winter) break to get some of out players back.

Arshavin needs to be subbed. He is looking at a red card.

Haven't woken up at all. I pointed out at the start of the match it would be very hard for us to get anything. Pretty abusive today aren't we? Not as if your team doesn't also have issues this season.

l am sure Arsene will turn it around in 2 to 3 weeks given 3 or 4 signings and players coming back from injury and suspension and then l suspect we will see a different Arsenal side.

And Walcott has just pulled a goal back for Arsenal.

Damien 28-08-2011 17:52

Re: Football Season 2011/12

Lot to do at half time. Hopefully Arsenal do themselves some justice in the second half but I am not betting on it. Arshavin needs to go off but there isn't anyone obvious on the bench to replace him. Thank heavens it's the international break, hopefully Wenger is off to buy a center back, M'Vila and another player. Our normal CB pairing is ok but clearly if one is injured then we're kind of stuffed. M'Vila would be great in the middle of the park.

That is the first time I've heard ''Your getting sacked in the morning'' Chanted at Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal fans calling for his head and others backing him.. Fans split and a club on a downward spiral.

The signings in the next few days have to be good and worth the money. I'd hate to think Wenger will go past Wednesday without signing a player.

Edit: This is a joke these Arsenal lads should be disciplined (Docked Wages) for getting sent off when the game is lost and your squad is already bare as it can be! Walcott had no need to make that challenge either.

Tell me about it. Ivan makes my stomach churn, the level of vocab he has is all very good to have but to be constantly pounded with it would be unbearable. Peter Hill-Wood is a disaster all together. We've been first to soo many players this summer but when it comes to contracts, the final piece it all falls apart. Its a joke at the moment on and off the field... whos to blame? is Wenger part of this budget or does he want it increased, there was a article going about a week or so ago stating Wenger and the board were locking horns regarding contracts and salaries the club will now have to pay but the board rejected it living in 1950.

No Wenger does not have to go as he has been one of the best managers in the world for 15 years and deserves time to get it right again and also if you think that then perhaps Harry should go as they were walloped today as well and they had a full strength side.

The thought of that is disgusting. Damien don't buy into this ******** long term strategy Arsenal are on. It does not put a complete gag on the club. Arsenal can easily up the salary budget and put players on higher wages to compete it that area. As much as it equally disgusts me, Arsenal will have to change it. The club doesn't need to go all out but they do need to up it. Secondly, Usmanov needs to be brought to the table. As the second largest shareholder he should be on the board, his input is vital. Fair enough if Arsenal don't want to accept his interest free money which he offered but he's a successful businessman, crooked he may be but hes got connections. Peter Hill-Wood needs to go, Bob Wilson needs to be brought in as his replacement. Ivan needs to be moved elsewhere and as much as David Dein is a dangerous person, his involvement at Arsenal was vital to success... he needs to be re-instated as Director. This isn't just a reaction from todays result, its been building up for a long while now. I fear the arrogance currently at board level will run this club into the ground where we'll have to start all over again. Its pathetic.

I think we need to take this result in isolation. The start of the season is bad but not that bad. It's not going to indicative of the season, we do need to sign players before the end of the window however.

Arsenal were poor, but i can't believe they are that poor...this is a freak result.

Arsenal played poorly, defended badly...and had a weak team

To beat Man Utd, at old trafford, you need to be 100%, no way were Arsenal 100%.

I then wenger needs to go back to the drawing board...and get a couple of decent defenders (them midfield, then striker)...all in 3 days :D

Seriously though, I was always under the impression that Wenger had at least £40m to spend, regardless of whether Fabregas and/or Nasri were sold? I will happily be corrected though but I could swear I read it.

So really with the transfers of Nasri and Fabregas he should have nearly £100 million to spend unless some of it is going to the owners.

His mouths not the only thing he can't control...

Co-presenters Tony Cascarino and Patrick Kinghorn - billed as 'The King and Cas' - fell out spectacularly on-air when Kinghorn accused the married ex-Ireland striker of "chasing that 21-year-old around the office". The pair had a heated discussion during the next commercials and an apparently contrite Kinghorn returned after the break to say: "I just want to apologise for saying that Cas has been chasing a 21-year-old around the office. She wasn't 21, she was 19!"

Cascarino leaped across the desk, punched his co-host in the face and, as production staff quickly cued up another set of ads, the pair continued to brawl on an office sofa until Cascarino was pulled off Kinghorn by his former international team-mate Ray Houghton. The duo then resumed their show, sporting cuts and bruises.

Yes there seems to be several pundits like this and it beggars belief that these TV and Radio stations employ these idiots and then have the balls to call them experts.

Idiotic comment. However who hasn't made an ill-advised comment now and then? Generally you don't make them at work and especially not on TV but if you do it all the time then make your brain doesn't register correct and you pluck an ill-advised work out the air.

Seriously though, I was always under the impression that Wenger had at least £40m to spend, regardless of whether Fabregas and/or Nasri were sold? I will happily be corrected though but I could swear I read it.

Let's wait and see what happens this week...

Yes many were under that impression, the more I see and hear though the more I think his hands are being tied by the board, bet he spends what he has brought in and not a penny more.

From what I hear it's the wages that are restricting him and not the actual transfer fee. The board want cheaper players such as Cahill, who Wenger feels isn't that much better than the players he already has, because his wages would fit into the existing structure.

The thing is Arsenal,s wage structure is having more and more repercussions as time goes on and their stance is brave in some respects but it is foolhardy in other respects as the other big clubs move further ahead.

Well not much we can do about that.

Just heard on 5Live that Arsenal are to compensate all of their fans who went to Old Trafford yesterday.

Something about no charges for next away game, not going to refund travelling expenses though.

Compensation

Yup and rightly so, they were fantastic. As much as this is a start, theres a lot more to do to fix the relationship.

Arsenal have signed Fenerbaches Brazillian left back Andre Santos. Deal to be completed tomorrow I guess.

Seeing as a few Turkish clubs are in the poo as a result of corruption, relegation etc. etc. Who else is up to standards that can be brought in? Might as well conduct a raid :dunce:

Where did you hear that?

NTV Sport in Turkey are reporting Arsenal have agreed a fee in the region of €7m for Fenerbache full-back Andre Santos.

NTV reporting now that Andre Santos will complete Arsenal move before Wednesday.

Benayoun and even Alex are a real move of desperation. I'd rather see youth evolve than see that come off. I'll hold my hands up and say its dignity and stubbornness but I'm not fussed.

Apparently Arsenal have been told to pay 30 odd mil pounds for Mario Gotze.

It comes back to one thing and Arsenals lack of planning this summer because they should have sold Fabregas and Nasri as soon as last season ended and then they should have bought in 3 or 4 players like the other big clubs have by mid July and then there would not be this utter desperation in the last week before the transfer window closes.

They need the bids to come in. Barcelona didn't make a real bid until mid August.

But Arsenal really should have sold him at the start of last season when he was worth more and he also wanted to go then if l rightly remember but decided to stay after much persuasion and Arsenal also set their price too high this summer thus drawing out this transfer saga to the start of this season and also Arsenal were supposed to have had a transfer budget of at least £50 million even before these players were sold.

Re: Football Season 2011/12

Wenger done his best with Fabregas but he shot himself in the foot by not signings more quality. If that would of happened Fab and Sammy would still be at Arsenal. Regarding the transfer, well Arsenal were gagged.

Götze was rumoured but Dortmund turned it down. Most people suspect it as a PR exercise by Arsenal to make it look like they tried before finding someone much, much cheaper.
