Well as like you we have heard so many rumours whether it be through the forum, Neil Berketts office, the Virgin tv man and several other sources but people are getting impatient and l can understand why at the moment but lets hope all our christmas presents will come before christmas in the form of what people want be it more HD and SD channels, more tivo functionality, the red button on tivo with Sky and BBC and many other things.

Indeed.

And this deal with Sky seems to indicate even more that VM really does seem to have a policy of not adding new TV channels. After all, MB's excellent "Coming Soon" posting has gone from a weekly update to a monthly update due to this apparent strategy by VM because he has nothing to report each month.

But people seem also to forget that since we have had the new encryption, Nobody has been able to see what channels are testing? So it just comes down to the little nuggets of info that some are able to get (may all be subject to change)

Maybe they're holding them back and are going to release all at once along with a EPG shuffle. Seems bad to keep us waiting but maybe its easier to advertise new channel(s) (numbers) and such at once instead of its just suddenly being there, 4364643 slots away from sister channels, a la Sky.

Think it's been pretty obvious what's been testing in the past 10 months.

Zip!

Supposedly the delay was due to issues around selling advertising on uktv's channels and website, which Ch4 has won the contract to do. Now that is resolved, the deal "should" go ahead.

Why Ch4 got involved in the first place is anyone's guess. It's meant that a deal between three parties: VM, BBC and Scripps, has actually been a deal between four parties if you include CH4.

Yes I also emailed Neil Berketts office and after they phoned me they sent me a VMNG300 modem instead of the superhub, they also offered me a Tivo without having to extend my contract. I refused but it was a good offer.

I could never fault the VM exec team they are tremendous , I emailed Neil once after an ongoing BB problem and he emailed me back the same day Sunday at 7pm now that's what I call going the extra mile. A CEO of a company the size of VM I would imagine is a very busy person.

Hence his salary

You would think his team must look at feedback from online surveys and maybe even look through forums like this one to garner what the customer wants.

They do.

Or at least some of the higher ups do look at forums like this to see whats being said. The reason I know that is because I got my legs e-slapped for saying more than I should have on something I'm under an NDA for.

And more importantly acted on them. IMHO the people who just pretend everything is going swimmingly do virgin tv customers a disservice. Improvement is well overdue and the more people who actually fess up and complain about the shocking lack of content improvement the better. Surely then they will finally start adding the plethora of HD and SD channels that they are missing.

Believe it or not i would prefer not to post on here, but can't abide the way some lie down and accept a shoddy service.

That could be a big month for VM/TiVo - in the Q2 results transcript he implies that the next code drop for TiVo will be in October and will allow multi-room streaming between TiVos in the same home.

In the last 12 months Virginmedia have added lots of new HD, added 100Mb to there network and increased most users upload speeds(infact doubled it) and gave you Tivo.

What exactly do you expect? What the hell will it take to keep virgin customers happy?

VIRGINMEDIA are trying and trying very hard to give you what you want but once you get given something new you start screaming for something else.

Virgin is not Sky, if you want Sky join Sky, If you want virgin then start looking at what they have gave you in the last 12 months and understanding they do not have limitless pockets.

Thats fair enough denphone but having been expecting all the cricket sky show on red button to be available to us on VM sky sports well it has not been, and cricket was supposedly in the 1st phase i had to stream a few matches sky were showing on red button from the net as they were not given to VM viewers,if my expierience is repeated with the football then i expect a few more may well face disappointment i hope i am wrong on that one though. As paying £22.50 a month for a service sky charge around £20.50 for,and then having to stream content from the net is not very acceptable.

But there you go.:erm:

I still think you Virginmedia customers need to stop expecting Virginmedia to turn into sky.

read below.

Very well said:)

Yowsas. Really playing catchup now, hopefully TiVo subscriptions can help fund getting some content on board.

Hi New to cable, we only have one ranter on this forum and that is me, What you are saying is only a small tip of a very large iceberg.

VM love people like you, VM is a second rate organisation that give promises, but don't fulfill them, compared to Sky, they are a small company trying there hardest to get channels for customers, but want them on the cheap.

With Sky, they have the channels and the technolgoy to blow VM out of the water.

I have both systems, and l am pleased with the phone and brioadband, but the channels are poor on VM.

In fact a good example is read the 'red button forum' and you will see some unhappy customers.

Welcome to the forum.

Wtf Sky are unable to offer a proper VOD system and also the BB speeds are dependent on BT?

This will all kick off again when SKY SPORTS 1/2 launch of freeview and they are saying available on the red button?

Not really, just as many problems for freeview if they say SS3, SS4 or SS News nevermind red button.

I was given the date of today for Phase 2 to launch on Virgin TV but that was given to me months ago.

The SA Boxes are still on UK4 code (Mine is anyway) and that was set to be updated to UK5 Code by tomorrow - so I do not know what has happen.

Why? is what a lot of people have been asking for an awful long time on this forum, communication with their customers is poor.:(

Isn't there a message centre on Tivo?
I've seen it on screenshots, but they should probably use that to get stuff across.

As for the remainder of the cable boxes, wouldn't it be ideal to put a message centre in the Help & Info section of the software?

Jameseh 31-07-2011 19:47

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. III.

They usually just harass you for 2 or 3 channel changes with a 'press blue to close' message.

They just used that to inform TiVo customers of the changes to iPlayer (backwards EPG and search).

Ah so they are using it? :)
I'm still thinking of picking up one. The deal breaker is being able to take the V+ upstairs for no addition fee. Makes the £3 Tivo fee seem nicer :p:

Hopefully the deal does not finish in the next couple of weeks.
And your quote made me realise I made a typo and had put "feel" instead of "fee".
Luckily the edit button was still visible :p:

Rise up rise up oh downtrodden viewers, this is our time, rise and demand change, get freakin

Give these guys and girls pride in the tv channel changing tool in their hands! For too long it's been lightweight and flaccid. Give us a full length epg with the extra inches of tv channel content in crystal HD clarity we deserve!!

Hopefully a few people within the TV division will see the poll and think "Oh, I think we should add XYZ since customers are demanding for it".

So therefore, yes I am with you :)
