Actually, the quote I was referring to regarding the current situation regarding VM and Sky Atlantic was said yesterday following the release of the Q1 2011 results. I accept that whilst we had an idea that this was the case, I felt it was important to underline this in reply to an earlier post by stating what the current position is in case people had not spotted the quote. As i said, just trying to be helpful and I'm sorry that he couldn't understand this and that he chose to dismiss my intentions to be helpful with a sarcastic reply.

I personally can see Sky Atlantic ending up on VM within 6-9 months but that is just my opinion , I think the harder ones to get will be Sky Sports 3 and 4 HD.

I think that Sky Atlantic will launch on VM at some point this year but as always Sky want that period of exclusivity to try and gain customers within that time

From a business point of view you can hardly blame them though can you , after all they have invested a fair wedge of money in it.

Nope, and I'm not knocking them for it, it does make sense for them to do it. Once they feel that they have gained as many customers as they can from having it exclusive then they will make it available to other platforms.

To be fair VM are spot on at the CEO office they almost always reply and are usually as helpful as they can be unlike Sky's CEO who never reply.

He instigated a lot of it , one was Sky being petty over mini screen , which was proved to have been contract wrangling and is now sorted , plus why wouldn't people compare to the biggest pay TV provider in the UK.

We all know that DF works for VM so it's hardly surprising if he posts in their favour. That happens on all forums. Also if Sky were stopping paying customers from viewing their channels in the mini screen it's hardly a big deal to say they are being petty. With this constant barrage of petty criticism it's hardly surprising if he's had enough.

But you need facts to back allegations up , if he can't take criticism on the chin maybe forums are not for him :D

Well I don't know if it was proved to have been contract wrangling. We know an agreement has now been reached but do we know what was in the previous contract agreement - could it have been no Sky programmes in the mini screen?

Personally (and I know not everyone is the same) I don't come here to read about comparing Sky and Virgin so spend a lot of my time wading through posts to find something of interest.

Nope am not interested myself in comparing sky and virgin, what i would like however is somebody with authority coming on here and explaining the reason why Red Button has been delayed, i would not mind if vm communicated with its customers which apparently it seems very reluctant to do sadly.:(

Is that not what I'm trying to say , we don't know , however DF seemed to think he did , why pinpoint me for comparing Sky many on here do , my posts are non bias to either company , VM provide a good service hence why I still have TV , BB and phone with them.

Just want to post in support of DF, there may be opposing views at times and BB discussions may get a little heated but nothing wrong with somebody defending VM when some people criticisms go too far.
Not saying VM are always right and don't make mistakes which need customers to complain about to put pressure on VM , they certainly do but let be a little more pragmatic here please!

Very well said, But I just want to add that I am thankful for all the staff on here. Also MB and others that go out of their way to try to help with the info that they are able to get or able to say.

P.S Can we stop desecrating MBs Coming Soon thread:erm:

Surely as they are the two big pay tv providers it's only natural to compare sky to virgin, just as you'd compare Tesco to Morrisons etc

Agree completely, they don't have to help anybody on this forum. It shows how dedicated they all are to their company!

Now back to the thread, sounds a silly question but is there a preferred time of the year to launch new channels? In relation to the opposite I would say would be is the Summer with least impact!

Not saying VM are always right and don't make mistakes which need customers to complain about to put pressure on VM , they certainly do but let be a little more pragmatic here please!

l have never had a go at DF or MB on this forum as if l do have a go it is at Virgin poor communication and vague press releases.
As far as l am concerned this forum is all about opinions, debate and seeing what people are discussing and talking about.

It's also good for a good bit of gossip about what might be round the corner. It's usually pretty well informed gossip as has been proven time and time again so we really shouldn't complain if the rumours are scotch mist.

I'd say the substance of what the likes of MB and DF post usually has some basis. It doesn't alway come to fruition but I'm quite happy to take it on board on that basis.

I appreciate the effort they put in collating and passing on what they've heard. It'd be a pretty dull thread without them.;)

Very off-topic, but what are those strange boxes of hex digits that keep appearing in your posts?

I was wondering the same. They're what Firefox prints up when it doesn't have a glyph for a particular character; the numbers are the Unicode glyph number. They all seem to be in the Unicode private use area. Care to enlighten us, Henkesghost?

Do you mean where the smilies should be? Cos I'm just seeing smilies.

More a case of well intended I would say, these posters while able to obtined such advanced information also have no control on any new channel or feature release, so either you wait until an official announcement comes out or do not take timescales too literally.
