No problem at all - all the help the better, it just does not make sence when they say and action VIP50 for £97.50 which I also had the letter which drops it down to £96.50 from 1st Oct.

I just dont get that they state Sky Prem HD channels included when signed to VIP50 and website states something different.

Should I be surpriced - I just thought they would get it right after revamp

I know what you mean as BENMCR has stated that they are working on getting the staff up to speed on it and if someone quotes the website they state the complete opposite, so no wonder that everybody is

Lets hope that they get it sorted soon as with all the mis-information going about it will start to look like a scene from SCANNERS where people heads are exploding.http://deephousepage.com/smilies/cussing.gif

Sorry to sound like a muppet, but have recieved a text today to say that my virgin media package is going to be delivered tomorrow and just wondered what it could be as i am getting the upgrade to the vip50 on OCT 1st and also getting the vbox changed to the vhd box.

Please help as i know that a lot of people on this thread have had the same.

They could possibly be delivering the V HD box tomorrow by courier and the VIP50 installation will be on October 1st?

Can i just check something please.

I have been told by Virgin that i am paying £110 a month for VIP50 with 1 HD box and 2 SD boxes.

Does that sound right?

Im asking as on my online bill its got the £7 HD fee but does not have a £7 credit on it as its in with the VIP50 is that right as well?

BenMcr 22-09-2010 22:41

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

VIP 50 with one V+HD box and two SD boxes should be £103

Regarding the Sky HD thing, the VIP 50 bundle was increased by £7

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

I currently am on the VIP20 package with 1 V+HD box and 1 standard box.

Thinking of upgrading to the VIP50 package and changing my standard box to a V HD box.

What will the monthly cost be and should there be any installation/activation fee attached?

Any help would be appreciated.

BenMcr 23-09-2010 00:13

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

Depending on the offers available it would cost no more than £40 to install 50Mbit and the V HD box and £20 to activate the broadband. The HD would be activated on the V HD box for free

Many thanks for that.

So are you saying i am paying the right cost?

£103 VIP50 + £7 Sports HD = £110

So i should see the Sports HD on Bill as £7???

i just cant understand the way Virgin to there Bills.

I'm saying the big bundle discount you get as a VIP 50 customer that was £37.94 (I think) got increased by £7 to £44.94 when they added the Sky HD bolt on

Just so people can compare - the Standard VIP50 Bill should look like this.

Yes seems to be a billing month differance i.e. you can see I'm getting charged the new Sports/Movies charge extra £2 but also my saving is £3
This offsets the £2 Sky increase and £1 reduction in the VIP package.

I know its only £1 but check your next months bill and you should see the new charging.

The reduction doesn't happen until you get the bill where the charging period begins after the 1st October date

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

I am thinking of taking advantage of the £7 per month upgrade to XXL BB and Sky HD.

I am presently on VIP with 20MB BB, V+ HD and 2 x standard STBs.

Can I ask for the standard boxes to be replaced by VHDs at the same time of the XXL BB install? Would I incur more than the £20 install cost in the present offer?

Probably one for you BenMcr. I think you previously indicated there would be no install/delivery charge if done during a VIP50 install.

Thanks for your help.

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

The VIP bundle include one V HD box at no extra cost. If you want your second standard box swapped it would cost an install fee of £40 on top of any fees you are paying for the 50Mbit install (but you wouldn't be charged the £49 activation fee as well)

Fitze73 26-09-2010 13:37

@ big red just a little confused on your bill it says additional v box, then has v hd box then v+ hd you have 3 boxes ? or 2?

We phoned the 0800 number that was in the offer email we got (although that indicated £7 extra per month). A lady (of poor English) then transferred me to 'customer services' as she said she couldn't process email offers. I had to mention the email to the guy I then spoke to before the deal was forthcoming. Still not sure why it's an extra £5 (although I am sure he said £5.01), other than him mention it was because of the package I was presently on. We'll see what the billing says though......

It's because there was price rise of £2.99 for existing VIP 20 customers back in April

So £8 - £2.99 = £5.01 ;)

As it will actually be £1 cheaper by the time you have it installed, it will only be a £4.01 increase in what you are paying now

No reference number required, it looks like a standard mailshot.

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

BenMcr - it would be intresting to know the number of customers who have upgraded to VIP50, no doubt the bulk would be VIP20 customers as you point out for an extra £4.01 your getting 50MB BB, Sky Prem HD Channels (On One Box) and your 2nd box upgraded and to VHD Box all extra.

Not sure why VM still offer VIP20, you would of thought with a £4 differance it would be better to offer VIP50 only as the top and only VIP package.

I would of also thought that VM would of emailed/sent letters to all its VIP20 customers stating upgrade to VIP50 for only an extra £4.

I'm a very happy VIP50 customer and all the emails we have issued to the CEO office have paid off - I just can not wait for the new VIP packages come new year once TiVo is released.

It will actually be £2.01 extra as the VIP 50 bundle is being reduced to £96.50 by the time you get billed for it ;)

(Forgot that VIP 20 is getting the £2 Sky increase whereas VIP 50 isn't)

Easier thing to say is that everyone will pay £96.50 for VIP 50 from October

Yes that's fine because of the extra box you have

As for what it will look like, you will get written contract which will give you the full details before you get billed.

Surely that would go against the mantra that many on here want which is equality between new and existing customers?

I, personally, do not have any issue with true loyalty (in terms of number of years as a customer) being rewarded with a modest additional discount.

The so-called loyalty discounts that you here about on here are, in fact, the opposite - they are given to those that threaten to leave.

I believe there is no chance of getting an additional discount on the VIP50 price as it represents excellent value for money to start off with.

I upgraded to VIP50 at the beginning of September, and was going to be charged £49 for my V box to be exchanged for a VHD box. Has this now been sorted out. What would I be charged now to get it sorted? Don't feel I should have to pay for installation as it should have been done when I upgraded.

On the website when you add the vip50 bundle to your basket the sky HD channels are not included it cost's £7 extra when you add them

Seems like VIP 20 Customers are getting a raw deal with only £2 ish between VIP20 & VIP50, with VIP50 getting faster broadband and SKY HD Channels, perhaps VIP20 price needs to come down a bit.

It's only £2 for existing VIP 20 customers

It's £5 difference for new sign ups

Don't see why the price has to come down though, the difference being so low is being left as a reason to upgrade - which unsurprisingly Virgin would like customers to do

Ben,

I know you may have answered this many times but currently i have VIP20 and if i wanted to get VIP50, how much is installation for everything and can i get the Standard box swapped for a V HD box for free or is there a cost?

And would it be best to call on October 1st when the new prices come into effect or is it safe to ring now and they will know everything

Thanks

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

I take it you have to go through retentions to upgrade as an existing user ?

I've just been on the phone to the "upgrade option" on the phone menus saying I wanted to upgrade from VIP20 to VIP50.

Been told it would be £8 more for VIP50, plus an extra £7 for HD channels. I'm currently paying £94.50 ( ie £3 too much ), so my new monthly cost would be £109.50 rather than £97.50.

I asked to be put through to Retentions but they shut at 8pm.

She claimed she was not in Sales, so couldn't comment on the website prices, or any deals being done - the options on her screen were £8 and £7 as above.

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

Just received my bill and seems to be £3 too much. Can someone clarify:

Telephone Line Rental = £11.99
Talk International = £1.50
Talk Unlimited = £7.95
Talk Mobile = £1.50
TV Size XL = £24.50
1 Additional V Box = £15.00
V+HD Box = £10.00
Add Set Box(es) Discount = £9.50CR
XXL 50MB Broadband = £45.00
BB Size XXL Activation = £20.00
Manned Installation = £40.00CR
VIP50 = £44.94CR
SkyMovie etc = £29.50
SkySports HD = £7.00

Total therefore = £119.50

That would look like I will be paying £99.50 for the VIP50 service instead of the £96.50 I thought I would be paying.

What bill period does that cover?

Sauzee 06-10-2010 18:32

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

Might have misled you a little. The letter I received details the services, charges and contract details. It does not cover a billing period. The letter states that these are the charges which will start from my next bill. My installation is due on Friday 8th October.

BenMcr 06-10-2010 19:43

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

By the time you get billed you should find the £44 discount has increased to make the total price £96.50

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

Finally (after 2 months chuntering on about it) I have persuaded the financial controller - my wife - that this upgrade is well worth it. She believed I was doing it for the HD channels and could not see the reason to duplicate channels we already have (and she is careful with money - we are Yorkshire folk!) - now that we have had some problems with our current router, I have sold it as a free way to get a replacement router and much faster internet, saves buying a new one - At last she agreed..

Got a good deal too...

cost only £2.10 more than present - though telephone consultant thinks this may even be less and will stay around the same as we are alreay paying - either way is good

activation fee - £20

Intallation fee waived

Free Wireless router

Free 50Mb modem

Installation next Tuesday

I would think that yes it would be of value - at £5 per month more for broadband at more than twice the speed and all those HD channels added along with it (even if you already have them it's still a bargain)- silly not to really.....

Thanks is there a connection fee? Whats the best way to go about it? i remember people saying they rang up and customer services had no clue what they meant?

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

I called cust serv and they had no problem putting me throught to someone who did know (and gave me a good deal too) - a nice Indian lady at what I presumed was a call centre in the sub continent

She told me first about the installation fee, but as soon as I was backing off she said that would be free installation - so I accepted the £20 activation fee

The VIP bundle is a particular combination of services at a particular price. It is documented here:

Robbo, I note from the link you supplied that it states that you get in this package an extra V HD box - I haven't, I only have an extra V box - therefore should I call and ask for this to be replaced? Will they do it? (feeling left out now)

Is it worth the trouble? It is to me, but will they give me to run around do you think?

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

I upgraded to VIP20 last week - i already had a V+ box in one room and got a new install for another V+ box in my main living room (replacing SKY +)

Install was trouble free and on time- new Samsung Box looks good.

then over the weekend had a problem with my original box (an SA Box) - V+ wouldn't work- rang Virgin- sent a engineer next working day- again the tech arrived on time. Diagnosed problem with Hard Drive and installed another new Samsung box (certainly looks a lot better then the bulky SA box) without any fuss,

all in all very happy with the service from Virgin and I am certainly pleased with 2 new samsung V+ boxes, Movies & Sports on both boxes , HD on both boxes, XL tel & 20mb BB and totally free install for £97 per month.

Yeah but don't they say that they won't treat existing customers worse than new customer? In fact didn't they make a big selling point about it?

I called up on Monday about the VIP50 package, was told it was £96.50 like everyone else, no installation charge, no activation fee, Sky HD channels included of course. Installed this afternoon, all working great so far. Plus Indiana Jones is on!

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

Called customer services to complain about my only having a V box upstairs (main V+ box in the living room) was getting nowhere so asked for a manager, after a long wait I spoke to a helpful chap who explained that I was correct but that the V HD is only available to existing VIP customers who request it - so I requested it and it is to be installed in early November (fist time I am off work) no charge......

Any VIP customer can get the V HD box simply by asking for it

If I'm correct it's the same guy who helped me on another forum..I followed his advice and hey presto..got what I needed.

Basically I think if you are paying for a VIP package you should have 2 boxes capable of outputting in HD..one will recieve all the premium HD channels..the other just the basic HD channels.
Correct me if I'm wrong Ben :D

I think that it is only on the VIP50 that one box will receive HD premium channels. I believe that does not apply to VIP20?

Yup, only VIP50 gets Sky HD Premiums included within the bundle

VIP 20 customers will get 'basic' HD on both boxes by default, and would have to request the HD bolt on (at which time they might as well upgrade to VIP 50 anyway)

hi guys, thinking of upgrading from vip 20 to vip 50.
What should i say to CS. Also are their any extra costs?

BenMcr 24-10-2010 13:02

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

'I want to upgrade to VIP 50' would probably be a good start ;)

As for costs, you will probably have to pay £20 for the 50Mbit activation, but you may be able to get the installation free

The monthly cost will be £96.50, so take away whatever you are paying now and that will be the monthly difference

jab1990 24-10-2010 13:09

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

thanks,y
just another quick question, will i have to ask for the hd channels, or will they automatically put it on my v+ box.
Also when they install the new modem, do you have to use their router or can i use my current one?
