Ah, but this is Cambridge United we are talking about here ;)
It just bothers me that he never made the grade at Forest or Lincoln City and MK Dons, that is not to say he won't make it at Cambridge though.

OK and who do you support then?

Judging by the signature you have just got a new pip... ooh, I could take that away for you... :erm: (but I wouldn't)

We may be a bit **** now but it's all Megson's fault and crap clubs don't win the European Cup, that's the Champions League to younger fans.

Just for nffc, its here the long awaited cup draw, well tomorrow anyway, from the European Cup to the LDV Vans trophy, welcome to the real world :o:

Cheers. Dunno what would be worse tbf, winning the LDV or getting knocked out and NOT winning it...

Must be nice for you though, when things go bad for Camb you can always look and see your "other team" rich and sitting pretty atop the Prem... :erm:

Hmmm, were you not relegated from the premiership before Megson joined? Quite a few seasons before. ;) So blaming Megson for your current problems is not right

Oxford- didn't realise it was possible but your team is actually worse than mine.
All together now... you've never won **** all, come on, you lot all know the words :D

1. yes but Platt aside, we had a decent side that did well and lost its way under Hart, we were a few mins plus a play off final away from the Prem. Kinnear came and did a decent job with a talented side, strengthened but also introduced a training regime based on alcoholism and pie avarice- starting a relegation campaign... any manager with 8m players at his disposal, plus the talent of Commons, King etc could have kept us up and I believe Mick Harford may well have done... but they brought in Megson who swapped Kinnear's unfit but attractive purposeful, passing football into a dour, defensive, hoofball load of cack that rolled over spinelessly every game and was anything other than tight at the back, a theme which has continued after the close season :erm: And Darryl Powell...
Plus a lot of the senior players WHICH HE BROUGHT IN are rumoured to be unhappy with his methods and his aggressive handling of the players, and Gary Holt is even reported to be considering quitting football if he has to play for Megson much longer.
I think it's fair to say Megson needs to shoulder a fair proportion of the blame for our current plight.

2. I didn't mean that, I just meant, nice for you to have a "small" team and one that's reasonably successful. All I get is a big team doing ****e.

Re: The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season

I think you are wrong about forest. From what I know (discussions with forest fans) Hart is rated very highly, he had a similiar job to what craig has now at leics and that is to cut the wage bill. Hart did that and amazingly also got you to the playoff's. Since he left forest have done too much chopping and changing and you will come good if megson is allowed time to get things right.

Likewise at leics we are not doing great ourselves but I have seen progress with better quality football and age of squad coming down, players on longer contracts etc. But the results arent going right at the moment which unfortenatly is what manager's are judged on.

25 yard right-foot thunderbolt to beat Portsmouth last year. Passable Ronaldo impersonation. Had a few people wondering if they'd eaten some funny mushrooms.

Other than that, he can only score with his head (providing some mutt of a colleague *cough* Shearer *cough hasn't fouled someone to disallow the goal).

United still tracking Obi who has now returned to Lyn
Quote:

Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson visited Norwegian club Lyn Oslo on Monday to press their claim for the transfer of Nigeria midfielder John Mikel Obi to the club.

But the Chelsea interference comes to the fore again, it makes you wonder if Chelsea as a club, make it their main aim to stop, or try to persuade any half decent player going to Old Trafford, or any other club for that matter.

Chelsea have the power and resources to get anyone they want but if I was Obi I don't think it's possible for him to force his way past Makele, Essien, Cole, Duff , Lampard etc and would see United as a better option, Keane, Scholes and Giggs will be retiring soon so more chance of getting games and the club is proven to let youngsters through to the first team

'Mikel snubbed Fergie in Norway'

John-Obi Mikel refused to talk to Sir Alex Ferguson when the Manchester United manager went to Norway this week, according to Norwegian newspaper reports.

The youngster's agent John ****tu is incensed that Mikel was not told he would be meeting Ferguson this week when he was summoned to Andersen's office.

****tu called the meeting a "dirty trick" and says Mikel was "shocked" to see the United manager in Andersen's office.

He apparently shook Ferguson's hand but then sat at the opposite end of the office, refused to speak and then quickly left.

I wish. Should be our new slogan:
crap teams, come to forest and shed your unwanted record. 2-1 to City

Off to the match...

It's called 'Spurs Miscounting Syndrome' - Spurs fans often think they see 11 great players on the pitch in Spurs shirts. The real figure is zero. A comprehensive course of Arsenal DVDs is the usual remedy.

Tell you what - at half-time, I was all for scrapping Villa and starting to support Grimsby :D

What made me laugh was that O'Leary was saying before that Villa are taking the Carling Cup seriously, then look at the first half

Oh well, at least we managed to score a couple ;)

UP THE VILLA!!!

We're gonna win the cup :D

You probably will from there. When was the last time Villa scored 7 goals without reply? Are you Brazil in disguise (it's a very good disguise, if so).

Grimsby...chortle...chortle...woke up with a happy smile this morning
