Damn! How will they put the Sky Sports touch on these two inferior league? Sky once the proud owner of champions league rights. Sky with the newly purchased rights for more premier league games.

Well that's the nail in the coffin for me as far as TNT Sports is concerned.

Sadly, it seems unlikely my Team will be in either.

It looks like Netflix is considering entering the bidding process for premiership football rights. I wonder whether this will spur Amazon to go for one of the larger packages next time around?

https://www.broadbandtvnews.com/2025...league-rights/

[EXTRACT]

Netflix is weighing a move into Premier League rights after narrowly missing out on new Uefa football packages.

The streamer is understood to have bid for the global rights to the Uefa Super Cup – the annual match between the Champions League and Europa League winners – as well as Champions League rights in Germany for 2027-31. Industry sources told The Times that Netflix’s offers were competitive, but Uefa chose not to separate the Super Cup from its wider rights and Paramount+ ultimately outbid Netflix for the German Champions League package.

Netflix’s participation – coupled with Paramount+ winning the main UK Champions League rights from 2027 – is being viewed inside the industry as a signal that global SVOD players are now ready to compete seriously for premium football. That raises the prospect of fresh competition for Sky and TNT Sports when the next domestic Premier League packages are shaped, and for NBC when the league’s US deal – currently worth around £2 billion (€2.36 billion) over six years – expires in 2028.

Broadcast insiders quoted by The Times suggest Netflix could initially target a themed bundle of festive Premier League fixtures when rights are next offered, rather than jumping straight into a full-season package. Such a package was previously held for the UK market by Amazon. The current UK domestic contracts run to 2029, but the league has increasingly experimented with packaging specific kick-off slots and calendar windows.

Those days are sadly long gone.

It's probably cheaper to watch your team's home matches than subscribe to every service. Trouble is, getting a ticket is not easy unless you're lucky enough to be a season ticket holder!

Thinking of dumping the whole lot as getting too expensive and complicated

Then: £50 a year for a TV license and football on Saturday evening and occasional mid week cup games. Women complaining there's too much football on TV.

Now: £85 a month for full coverage every night of the week. Women complaining there's not enough coverage of the women's football.

:D

For non-sports fans, it’s great for them that most of the football is now consigned to sport subscriptions!

Celebrity quiz shows, Reality TV, and everything 'Ant & Dec' should be thrown onto subscription channels . . . please! :D

I know a few avid football fanatics that are now being turned off it all by the saturation . . too much of a good thing and all that . .

What makes me laugh is those who say look how many attend ... its "popular".

Well yes, because its cheap, take my local club as an example (Forest), they only open one stand, and its just £10/£12 for an adult ticket.

Try charging normal Premiership/Championship prices and then see how popular it is. ;)
