No wonder TNT has been cut back on sports rights and even channels.

I do wonder when TNT will axe its UHD Channel (It only broadcast about three hours per week)

But at least their Ultimate channel is true UHD/HDR and costs no more than the base TNT Sport price - whereas Sky Sports Main Event has quite a lot of upscaled stuff and some of the fake HDR looks terrible - and you have to pay extra for UHD.

I don't think they'll receive much for it given TNT's losses.

WBD will own it 100%. I think BT is just exercising its right to exit the joint venture. This was never a question of if but when.

BT plc will retain a 50% interest in the JV, and Warner Bros. Discovery will be granted a Call Option over BT plc’s interest in the JV, exercisable at specified points in the first four years of the JV.

whatever happened to "La liga tv" the standonline channel on virgin media? i assume it was closed when premier sports returned? are some games no longer available to be watched on virgin media as a result?

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news

It is a part of the Premier Sports service but not as a linear channel.

It is in their app and Amazon service - but not on VM or Sky (except via Amazon app).

Most live games on LaLiga are shown on PS1 or PS2.

Good News/Bad News for Rugby fans

Bad: Sky Sports, TNT & Premier snub England Rugby vs USA Test

Good: TNT Sports is set to announce a new 5-year deal giving it exclusive live rights to Gallagher Premiership. TNT will pay almost worth £200m for rights.

Agreed, good news for viewers would be FTA.

I don't think TNT are in trouble at the moment as they've got wealthy co-owners. it's just always been incredibly hard for secondary pay TV broadcasters in the UK like TNT to make money.

Hence the constant changes in the broadcasting landscape which has seen the coming and goings of Setanta, Viasport, ESPN, BT Sport, Premier Sports, Eurosport, etc.

For how long WBD decides to continue shouldering the losses of TNT or if they can turn it around remains to be seen. But for now, they seem to be committed.

But WBD and BT have debt of £53.38 billion.

Warner Bros. Discovery's total debt, as of December 2024, was £29.75 billion.

BT Group's total debt as of December 2024 was £23.63 billion

To provide context, BT had total assets of £51.74 billion, and WBD had assets of £78.86 billion.
