So it all went wrong for my daughter today. They induced labour and she pushed out the baby but them haemorrhaged and lost a lot of blood. They had to rush her to theatre lost 2 litres of blood and had to have a transfusion . Thankfully she got through it

Put the heating on properly this morning as the house was 16.5c at 8am, this is too cold for me.

Missed out on £26 cash back when purchasing my new high-end TV via topcashback from John Lewis because I forgot to disable Vivaldi's built in trackers and only disabled uBlock Origin, hopefully I got it right with my Home Insurance.

All subjective, but 18c is the usual minimum to avoid health (and mold) implications.

16C is cold. I wish I could get our house toasty and stay toasty without running heating all the time but it just isn't built that way so have to put up with around 19-20C.

Had 2 spam mobile calls, I declined both and since then I've been spammed by a text message several times with the name NOTICE and about logging into a Vodafone link which I obviously didn't click on.

Anyway it turns out I can't block text messages with no number on a Samsung!!! So the text keeps coming.

I think I may have solved it now buy installing Google Messages app and hopefully I was able to block that text.

The spam text now says this...... And the name is Vodafone instead of Notice! I've never had spam like this, I guess I pissed them off by declining to answer the calls!

Being very careful when giving your personal info out is the best defence against spam, cold calls, junk mail. I always give out 07777777777 to anyone that's demands my phone no but doesn't really need it.

I never answer a phone call if I don't know the person, hardly use the phone so this is completely spam, can't even get a Vodafone signal where I live, wondering what kind of messages I will wake-up to in the morning.

Well I'm blown away with the new TV everything is perfect, no clouding or bleed and it looks so much better than I had before and PS5 gaming is fantastic, it cost alot but I don't care, it gets used alot and assuming it doesn't break it'll suit me donkeys years.

Inanimate objects will always know the best time to break down in order to annoy the human race. Always pays to be as sneeky as they are. :D

My dishwasher needs a new part been waiting 6 months and even though it's on the extremely urgent list we have been informed it could still be another six months. I hate the NHS system as much as I love the dedicated staff. At least we have a high stool on which my dishwasher can perch which means he isn't totally out of action. <<Jo wanders off sighing>>

I've just spent 45 frustrating minutes on the phone to our bank. We do online banking and my little black security fob(?) has stopped working. It is used to key in numbers to open the account. One of the Bank's telephone operators didn't even know what I was talking about, and sayed my details didn't match, I had given bank account number, names of the account, the type of account and numerous other details, then I saw red and said I wanted to complain. After repeatedly answering the same questions I finally got someone who helped. They were asking questions like what transaction diid I do on 30th October, they didn't understand I couldn't answer because I couldn't access my account.:banghead:

Calcium chloride is often used for de-icing or dust control on gravel roads, in food or as the absorbing agent in desiccants. In much of the world, calcium chloride is derived from limestone as a by-product of the Solvay process. Calcium chloride can also be obtained from brine purification.

I got a letter from pain management out of the blue asking me to give a talk to others via 'Teams' on how to "cope and manage" pain (I'm not sure I do cope myself). Not liking the pressure they've put upon me.
1, No one asked me to if I wanted to do this.
2, I've never used Teams
3, I have a bit of a phobia of using webcams, Teams etc.
4, I hate socialising and talking to others the best of times / all of the time.
5, I'm sure they ain't going to like all of what I'll say....

But on the other hand if I can help someone then hopefully it'll be worth it. (I say trying to convince myself it's a good thing).

Re: Moans and Pet Hates - Part 8

Yeah I know, 1st world problems.

I go to the gym for 4.30am. Why? I don’t like people very much. Outside of my kids, my OH and one or two family I don’t really get along with humans and I like it that way.

The gym is my sanctuary. It got me through my dark cloud days and I still go to stave off the inevitability of them returning and have been doing so for 6/7 years. And one thing I can’t stand is queuing for a machine or piece of equipment when some chav or group of chavs are texting, scrolling through FB etc in between their sets. “Either shit or get off the toilet” is one of my mottos.

Now I can’t expect them to not use the equipment, they pay membership as I do.

My previous gym was about 10 miles away which made being there for 4.30 tough but I’d get my peace and quiet to lift but a new PureGym has opened in my town so signed up for that which meant the alarm could be set for 4am instead of 3.30am.

But each time I’ve been there (this morning included) there’s already 8 or 9 people there. Granted they don’t really get in my way much as yet and whereas getting up so early becomes more tough as I get older I’m not going to go there any earlier.

My only hope is most of them are the usual “I’ll sign up with the new gym!!!” then after 2 or 3 weeks when they realise they have to put the work in to get results, they slowly drift away (this is a no-contract gym).

Yes there are people out there with ‘real’ troubles in the world but hell that’s my moan for today.

So far.

Nobody who knows me in real lift has ever mentioned it. I’ve never hidden the fact I don’t really like humans.

I just tend to look a bit grumpy when other people are in the gym the same time as me.

Not really answering the question. I don't take the way people look as an indicator of what they're feeling or a descriptive of their personality. It's not what others think, but how are with yourself.

(Though you do look like you're just about to kill someone, lol).

Russ 17-11-2023 08:51

Re: Moans and Pet Hates - Part 8

It’s the only way I can answer really. I don’t feel particularly angry (I used to when I wasn’t allowed to see my son but that’s a different story) but nobody has ever commented that I act that way for a long time now.

But I do acknowledge I have RBF and my natural expression can sometimes look a little intimidating to some, that’s more my natural way of keeping people at arm’s length (especially if they look like a ‘talker’). The CF members on my Facebook will be aware of what makes me smile.

Oh and I appreciate the compliment, that’s the look I was aiming for that morning :D

peanut 17-11-2023 09:01

Re: Moans and Pet Hates - Part 8

That's fair enough Russ, and I appreciate your answers. It's a world away from my kind of life. That kind of dedication I just don't understand unless it's addiction, both are similar but two sides of a coin. I know from your reasons as to why you do it and that is your thing. In my world I'm not sure if I admire or envy that kind of dedication or I pity it. But if it works for you then all's good.

Keep on smilin' :D

Russ 17-11-2023 09:08

Re: Moans and Pet Hates - Part 8

Is it an addiction? Maybe, I’ve never thought about it, although addictions aren’t always necessarily a bad or negative thing. All I know is until the day comes that I can no longer lift, I’m going to keep on lifting. I hate missing a session and only do so in the event of injury, illness or needing to be with my kids (in which case I tend to use my son to train - press ups with him sitting on my back :D )

Jaymoss 17-11-2023 09:37

Re: Moans and Pet Hates - Part 8

I would call it a compulsion rather than an addiction.

I am a very compulsive person which definitely can be negative as well as positive.
I am a compulsive eater which led to my weight problem and I am a compulsive dieter which is leading to my massive weight loss and when I train I am a compulsive trainer'

I have been going through my clothes and I have 32 inch waist up to 64 inch elastic waisted trousers and massive joggers and over my adult life I have drifted between them a few times. I do feel my diet this time has a better chance to remain due to a more balance with food than I have had and so far I am not training which may sound mad but is a good thing. When I get fit I pull women which inevitably ends in heartbreak which starts the eat cycle again.

So I guess this brings me to a hate for the day and that is my brain injury my anxiety and by depression which means my life has been a yoyo of good times and bad times and the mirroring fit and fat times

There is no way she could push the door open, she is small and I tried shaking the door and it wouldnt come loose.... Someone is opening it and its really a pain!!

Ah well.........

Annoyingly, these days I don't think anyone knows how to shut a gate after themselves anymore.

Power supply for some brand new Christmas lights exploded the third time they were turned on. Took them back yesterday and the replacement set is also faulty. It's a 30 mile round trip to the garden centre we got them from so not too impressed.

No, but it locked the pin number so l have used the banks online option to order a new pin number.

l keep them securely but typed in the pin number of another security pin number thus no wonder it was not working.

I have a habit of putting in our home alarm number and then getting annoyed when the card machine won't accept it.. Always end up feeling embarressed.

Did it one Christmas Eve at TKMAXX with a very loooooong queue behind me, thought I was going to be lynched. :D

I have a POA card for my dad bank that I use for food shopping, unfortunately I have the same bank card, I thought I had his card and it didn't like the number, (it was my card). I swapped card and typed my number and it rejected it. I end up locking the card when I realised my mistake.

Luckily I did get the food

Consultants that just do not want to listen to their patients. I've waited over 2 years to see a Gastro after having my most of my bowel removed as my last Gastro retired hence the long wait. Long story short... it didn't go down well to put it mildly.

Is there someone you can complain to peanut as Consultants should be listening to what their patients say.

My brother saw a consultant a couple of weeks ago and when he came out he said the consultant was deeply patronising and insulting about his weight.

My brother used to bodybuild so has a lot of muscle which weights far more.

That's shocking but so believable today. I've tried PALS in the past but you get nowhere. Their word against yours. They make it too hard to complain so people don't bother.

I walked out mid consultation after I told him what's the point of me being there if he's not going to listen a single word. After 2 years I have a lot of questions which he wasn't interested in listening to any of them. I told the receptionist on the way to make sure I'm covered. Strangely the receptionist didn't look too surprised either.

I should get a call today to rate the quality of care etc and I'll add a comment to that. But I will ask for someone else in future.

Mmm that really true?

Hope he and Peanut get treated better by their consultants next time though, you shouldn't come out of a meeting like that feeling worse, that's the very least you should expect

Yes as muscle weighs more then fat as the reason he had to give it in was became he has got a umbilical hernia and finally after 2 years of people fobbing him off has been put on the operating waiting list.

Muscle does not weigh more than fat 1lb of muscle weighs the same as 1lb of fat. Muscle is more dense than fat though so 1lb of muscle takes up less space than 1lb of fat

Well I've just read the consultants report letter...

Reads nothing like what was said in the short consultation. He states it was 'a pleasure to meet me' -wtf... And the rest is just full of made up rubbish and the parts I did manage to say he's got wrong also.

So annoyed right now. I'll be writing them a letter to give my side and the correct information and ask to see someone else.

Bloody irritated this morning as l had a half hour telephone pre-op appointment this morning and now they tell me l have to come in Monday as well for blood tests and swabs before the procedure three days later.

Surely it would have been far better if they had done that in the first place.

And yet more expense into the bargain as well.

Dentist and their prices - how do they possibly justify them?

Apart from the near impossiblity of NHS treatment, private prices are insane. Having a hip replacement or heart bypass isn't that different in cost. Come the revolution they will be first to be nationalised !

We are lucky that we have had the same lovely dentist duo for 20 years as they both came here from abroad as friends.

That is bloody immigrants for you.;)

I bought a bedspread from Ebay, I didnt like it so tried to return it. I was given a printable postage label to send it back. A friend took it down to the local Post Office but returned saying it could not be accepted because it was over 2kg. I spent over an hour to Ebay they told me their returns labels only covered items up to 2kg and that I would have to get my own courier, or get the Post Office to pick it up. Money back does not apply until the goods are received back. Needless to say yet another item going to charity.:(:banghead:

The seller has now made a generous offer to give full refund plus 50% of return postage, seems fair.

Stupid cookie pop-ups on every bloody site, FFS, its really.. really.. annoying.

Sites that insist my password has a "special character" in it.
One site then rejected the password as "contains an invalid character". Morons.

Sites that want you to confirm your email, then block copy/paste of it - what is the point, idiots.

Amazon deliveries.... When they turn up, why can't they just press the doorbell instead of leaving the items on the doorstep then walk away. How hard can it be.:confused::mad:

My husband is due to have hip replacement surgery on the 20th. His latest Urine Microscopy post-op test has shown a high WBC and his operation is now in jepardy. Most probably a UTI but more worringly it could also be a Kidney infection and, as he only has the one kidney, we are now feeling very stressed with his RenalCancer Consultant now being envolved.

John is going in for blood tests and possibly scans early Monday.

Good that it's been picked up but we could do without all the worry and stress this is causing.

Mrs P asked a delivery man (not Amazon) why he didn't use our video doorbell. He said they had been told not to so that it didn't capture their image. She pointed out that it captured him anyway. He didn't have an answer to that.

I have a Ring floodlight cam as well as a doorbell. I have the floodlight cam set up on a tablet showing live view with an auto clicker that restarts the live every 12 minutes. Pretty much get 24/7 recording and and monitor the Front of the house at will

Caught an Amazon driver throw a parcel into my Garden once. Would never have known it was there
