The first season you get a season ticket our home form has been awful, its no coincidence. Please don't renew it for next season :p:

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

Renewed it months ago, Vidic, Evra and Ferdinand ( if they go) will be missed, there are more than a couple I would also like to see the back of as well who will not be a great loss. :)

Nani, Young, Fletcher, Cleverley, for certain, Smalling, Buttner, Welbeck, Valencia, Hernandez would make reasonable back up players but not good enough for first team regulars.

Looking at it from a unbiased point of view l think MU need between 6 to 8 new players iadom in the summer and that is dependent as we all know on many factors as its not as easy as some think to get the players the club want.

Sky sources understand the fine will be payable over three years although City are reportedly contesting the sanctions.

Quote:

And with City deciding to appeal, the case will now be handed to a panel whose non-negotiable decision will be final. Full confirmation of the fine and conditions imposed is expected by the end of the week or early next week.
I'd reduce the squad size even more.

Quote:

French giants Paris Saint-Germain are one of eight other clubs currently under investigation for breaking UEFA's financial rules. French newspaper L'Equipe has reported that PSG are facing even stiffer penalties from UEFA than City. Like City, they will be fined and see their Champions League squad reduced. But they will also have restrictions imposed on their wage bill and their transfers.
that will be interesting.

Quote:

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is among those to have previously called for harsh sanctions on clubs that break Financial Fair Play rules. He said last week: "There are rules to apply for Financial Fair Play. If you don't respect them, you have to apply the rules. One of the rules is that normally you should be banned for the excess of the financial amount that is not justified, that is if you are £100m overboard, you should be punished for £100m of your wages bill in the Champions League. I want to see that respected, if that is not respected, then the financial fair play will have problems to be respected in the future because everyone will just not consider it at all. If it is not respected, of course we will feel let down."

He had release clause with his contract before of around £40 million and given that he has since signed a new contract a release clause is likely to have doubled one suspects.

Decent move :) why not. There will probably be claims and doubts that players will take advantage of this but if she can be firm and aggressive as a coach this could be the start of proper equality in managerial vacancies having only just got certain rules in place for non-white managers.

Man City's £50m fine - surely Sheik whatsisname will just write a cheque? The teams most likely to be affected by the FFP rules are those with deep pockets. I thought sanctions were supposed to include points deductions etc? Restricting the squad size is a good start seeing as CL teams need to have at least 8 locally-trained players but point deductions would surely be a bigger deterrent?

As with the case of the female referee's assistant who Andy Grey and Richard Keyes slagged off, I couldn't care which gender anyone is as long as they do a good job and being female has zero bearing on it IMO. Football still has a male-dominated attitude to women in the game are likely to get some resistance/abuse so as long as that gets dealt with I say bring them on :)

I'm sure there'd be training ground banter that she'd probably take on the chin and dish back out, completely fine imo but what Keys and Gray did was just utter bollocks, they can claim banter all they want but it just wasn't and the tone in their voices said it all.

I don't understand how 50m payable over 3 years is a proper punishment.

In a way I think what they did was beneficial. It highlighted what I think was a popular but generally unspoken issue in the game. It got dealt with correctly and encouraged a lot of top players to speak out about sexism in football.

It isn't punishment, as Russ pointed out earlier. It has little to no effect on Big teams.. now imagine if someone like Crystal Palace or a barely stable team got slapped with that, they'd be pretty much ruined.

At Man United's Player of the Year last night David De Gea took the award - very much deserved IMO - but the Lifetime Achievement went to Ryan Giggs, very much inevitable and totally deserved I'd say.

Yes even for a diehard Liverpool fan Ryan Giggs has been a magnificent servant to Man Utd and the Premiership and fully deserves all the awards he gets.

David De Gea has been a standout this season for United

I like this article on pelligrini
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo...rge-glory.html

One part,

"the incident that perhaps best summed up his approach in the rather frenetic, emotional world of the Premier League came at St James’ Park in January when Newcastle manager Alan Pardew called him.........

It was Pellegrini’s reaction after the game that said most about him, though, when it was explained to him in Spanish exactly what Pardew had called him.
‘Is that all?’ Pellegrini smiled, with a raised eyebrow. ‘I have been called much worse.’

That opinion's being driven by the media, and they've been trying to ram it down our throats for the last couple of months. Like you, it's not what I've seen when I've been at work and out and about.

It's only because of the 25th anniversary of Hillsborough which I think it a really cheap way of trying to get support for Liverpool. The team that finishes the season with the most points are the most deserving winners, not one with its glory years firmly in the past.

Yes, I concur with all.

Previously, I would not have been unhappy, if Liverpool did succeed, but given that the liverpool supporters think they have a divine right, I am less so inclined.

I agree with this. They are using that to get people to support them. You didn't see us doing the same in 08 in mark of the Munich disaster

A good point made on Twitter today, more has been made of the Hillsborough disaster than the fans who died in the Bradford fire.

I think this is largely because of the continued sense of injustice, rightly felt as it turned out, of Hillsborough. Bradford was a tragedy. Hillsborough was a tragedy compounded by years of cover up and smears by the authorities.

I don't think this is fair either. The 25th anniversary isn't being used as a 'cheap way' of trying to get support for them. It just happens to be a compelling narrative that people latch onto. It would make for an emotional side-story of the season for Liverpool to win the league again 25 years after Hillsborough during the time that the original verdicts were quashed and a new inquest opened. The story of justice finally being achieved for the fans dovetails nicely with the resurgence of the team on the pitch.

I don't want Liverpool to win btw but that's why it's brought up. Not to guilt people.
