1st thrown away on first day with that mindless declaration.

2nd test thrown away when England went from 181 for 1 to 220 odd for 4 in the space of 5 or 6 overs of brain dead batting from Pope, Duckett and Root.

Major League Cricket - USA 20/20 cricket (currently on BT), live from a baseball ground in Texas. The locals don't sound that excited, just confused....

Should have have given them some Test Matches, much more exciting!

Yes l agree it was a poor decision but one does not expect to lose 150 overs in mid July.

I actually agree with this, two whole tests have been lost there due to rain, two whole test matches, shouldn't happen again and the Australians couldn't complain if they were 4-0 or 3-1 down, never known a team to get so much luck

Bollocks.....The Ashes have not been won entirely due to an absolutely stupid declaration in the 1st test and brain dead batting to go from 181 for 1 to 208 for 4 in the space of 5 overs in the 2nd test.

It is bollocks you're right, two entire test matches lost without a ball being bowled and countless other days being lost, if the Australians can call for Sydney to lose its test status due to weather we can do the same for Old Trafford, it wouldn't be the first time tests weren't played there

Neither Old Trafford or Headingley are getting a Test for the next Ashes. Why London always gets 2 Tests is a mystery....

Personally I think Colwyn Bay's time has come. Lovely ground and it never rains ;)

A man of considerable character, he didn't want to make this test all about him but will hopefully get the send off he deserves tomorrow and whilst I didn't see it coming either it actually makes perfect sense to me now I've thought about it

I suspect the offer of a lucrative tv commentating/pundit role, will have more to do with it. You don't make money running pubs these days. He had a another couple of years at least, but guess he's got to look to the future.

As for Anderson who is 4 years older, admire his spirit but if he tours India I'd be amazed.

Might be just aswell for England.

Never mind the Gaelic Football Cup final is live on BBC2. 82,500 watching , slightly more than the Oval. Seems more entertaining too. Just need to work out the rules , they seem to have goals and rugby posts.....

Aussies are 22/5 with the bookies.
I'm tempted!

Actually, it seems to be one bookie who doesn't now seem to be honouring those odds. Damn ...
