Re: [Update] Windows 10 Discussion

My main PC has been displaying the Windows 10 update notification for some time - since June. I know it is of a suitable spec.

Having become impatient I decided to install by downloading directly from the windows site. I opted to install directly to "this PC". Unfortunately the installation has failed three times on the first reboot. On the second attempt I disconnected all unnecessary devices. This made no difference.

I tried also to install via bootable media, a USB stick. (NTFS) Repeatedly the system fails to create the necessary media, let alone be ready to install.

I am reluctant to disconnect all my additional internal hard drives, sound card and video card to make things less complicated for the installation. Surely a well constructed installation file should be able to upgrade any suitable device. I do hope when my upgrade comes as part of the roll out I do not have similar problems.

Uninstall any security software you may have installed prior to install.

I keep getting a message to download, still have not done it yet, I hate changes so I will read all your reports first, It says it is free and then in small print it says " your internet provider may charge a small fee".

For downloading the file. MS cannot possibly refund those people eating into their monthly usage allowance.

Never disabled anything including Malware Bytes and Trend Micro Premium, no install problems whatsoever.

No go I am afraid. Did as you suggested thenry, but now I get the message

"Setup couldn't start properly. Please reboot your PC and try running Windows 10 Setup again"

This is entirely new. It occurs when Media Creation tool x64 is creating the setup media.

I have made no changes apart from uninstalling F-Secure and Spyhunter.
