David Beckham has told Manchester United he would go back to the club if Alex Ferguson went. The United board contacted Becks about a sensational return this summer. And the England skipperââ‚à ‚¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s advisers confirmed he is ready to say yes †â€ÂÂ� but only if Fergie is not boss. Beckham, 29, was forced out of Old Trafford after a bust-up with Ferguson last season and joined Spanish giants Real Madrid for £25mill ion. But Beckham is now resigned to leaving Spain this summer after a season dogged by problems in his private life. He wants to return to England and be with his family and believes it is just a matter of choosing the right Premiership club. Becks still has a house near Manchester and keeps in touch with pal, United full-back Gary Neville.

NB. The Russian linesman ( or whatever daft name they call them now ) who disallowed the perfectly legitimate goal from Paul Scholes against Porto has been removed from the list of officials for European Championships.

It was actually Arsenal - around the turn of last century, it was a game where United lost their (green and gold) kit - so the Arse donated theirs :)
