On that note, yesterday had a text from Docs to make an appointment for blood tests, because previous tests (for the last 20 years) show me as being 'borderline' in the diabetes thing.

It also seems they've accepted that I won't get up at 7am to ring the surgery and sit in a phone queue for half an hour only to be told "sorry, nothing until next week" . . so the text included a link to online booking . . sorted, thank you ;)

My docs has gone online triage they ask a number of questions to get an idea of what your needs are. The 2 times I have used it I have had same day appointments 1st one not so get with a nurse practitioner that first said he could not print my scriptcuz the printer was broke and had to send it to the chemist but they will get it straight away then went on to print a bloods form. The script was not there and caused issues. Second time was great .

Bought a new TV cabinet ready for a new TV I am buying this month

Some bottles of Waitrose Loved & Found Castelão red wine.

Shared a bottle at the weekend with my brother-in-law (his bottle), and liked it so much when we passed a Waitrose this morning I popped in and bought three bottles.

Surprised at Miele mind they always had a good reputation. Heard good thinks about Liebherr

I need to get a load of appliances as we’re about to complete on the new house, inc. A chest freezer to go into the garage and a under counter fridge for the kitchen and a new microwave.

A big birthday card for my sister's 60th from Moonpig for the 12th. She's a vegetarian but we joke about it being the "glorius 12th" :D

20 cans of Flageolet beans from Waitrose. I only go there about once a year, and these beans are a must-have for the missus.

I've bought a house ( for my son). No other way anyone from his generation will afford one.

However he now expects me to paint it, and do all the maintenance... Tried to explain that i'm not the landlord. Bless him !

I was about to buy a Kärcher K 4 Power Control Flex Pressure Washer due to a price drop on Amazon but seeing I can't use it with a hosepipe ban I'll wait until Black Friday!

I was going go ask what you were trimming in order to drop it into the toilet, but then recalled all the stuff I've accidentally dropped down the toilet . . .

. . . a microwave, a 3 man tent, 2 garden forks, a barbeque (still lit), double bed . . ;)

What I now realise is when ordering from Amazon if you select a no rush delivery you get a few % discount and with my last 3 orders they have all been delivered on a Tuesday when I specified Saturday as the no rush day.

I wonder if this would work with something far more expensive?

Paul 24-08-2026 13:53

Re: What have you just bought?

"no rush delivery" isnt always an option, at least not in my experience.
