Surely it's a sign that it isn't. It wouldn't be necessary if all the channels were about to go HD.

Going forward it may be worth a going soon thread , it will be interesting to see whether Virgin has any spats at carriage renewals.

Sky has already had a difficult one with Discovery and it looks like the same in Germany were it's removing pay channels.

... that story is interesting and may signal how things go here with each platform only carrying its own channels and services. It will likely go that way in America too, once all the mega media mergers are done.

Paramount Network will be on 220 so that's one that is actually "coming soon" https://www-prelive.channel5.com/paramountnetwork/

Thank goodness, logic has prevailed. It's in the interest of both parties for the channel to be carried on Virgin Media.

I wonder what has been allocated the vacant slots on 217, 218 and 219.

Not that there's much on there to watch, at least judging by next week's schedules.

We do still have Sky Atlantic, hopefully AMC and some new sports channels to look forward to over the next year or so, but other than that, any new pay tv channels are likely to be lacklustre at most. I would love to be proved wrong, however...:o:

SD is blurry as hell lol

I guess it depends on your TV (size and model will have a difference) which I would say you have a decent TV is SD is watchable...but if you are paying VM hundreds of pounds a year for the privilege of having HD channels on your subscription, why would you not watch your favourite shows on them?...I know not all channels have HD variant, but those that do, I always make sure I watch or record using them.

Out of interest does it work the other way round, too?

For example, I have always been told that you can't tell UHD / 4K quality unless it is on a big machine but I never realized that it warps / distorts as it gets smaller. I just thought that you can't tell the superior quality, is all...

I think Viacom have some tricks up their sleeves. More +1's, I bet.

Rugby AM tweeting that Freesports will be on Virgin Media from end of July, so looking pretty likely now.

I'm not sure when in 2019 VM's contract with Sky runs out, but it will be whenever that is, I assume.
