Think the guy posting the prices on DS is full of crap. Some of his other posts suggested that Dave+1 and BeIN had won the Premier League rights.

So whilst there is no doubt prices are going up, don't think they'll be as steep as that as I think it's getting to saturation point now where people are seriously considering dumping traditional pay TV for a combo of FTA and streaming services. A steep rise would just lead to many cancellations.

I also find it very interesting that Sky are throwing 50% off TV for a year offers around like confetti. I'm seriously considering going to Sky myself as you can get the full Sky TV pack for 12 months for £38.25 per month whereas I've just cancelled Sky Sports with VM which was costing me £36.25 alone! I'm in contract with VM until July so will be able to see the fallout of the price rise before deciding.

I think VM are going to need to have something big up there sleeve as they already have the most expensive price for Sky Sports in HD and come next season I'd be very surprised if BT give away their Champions League coverage for free to non-BT customers.

So coming soon to VM is another price rise. Hopefully we'll get something else too as whilst it was nice to get SSNHQ and SN in HD on New Years Day, there are pretty much zero rumours flying around so it's not looking overly promising.

I've had the 50% off Sky for 2 years now, I got rid of Tivo to do it.

It doesn't pay to bundle your services anymore, once it did, keep moving around you get better prices that way.

Unfortunately it won't stop the ads.

You still have to have Sky (NowTV) to get Atlantic.

I've had NowTV for a couple of weeks and i've watched Fox, Sky One and a couple of progs on Discovery. Zero on Atlantic, it ain't much of a draw, except when GOT starts of course, then i'll watch it.

To be fair the TV Listings look poor for Sky Atlantic.

Yep, i think the boat has been missed in regards to VM wanting to get it. The majority of progs are 4-5 seasons in and without a marathon binge playing catchup it's pretty much a waste of time.

The Following looks good but it's on s2 and s1 isn't on catchup.

Very overhyped IMO.

The price rise is confirmed on the Sky website MB, just doesn't specify the amounts yet.

They do, in fact the Sky channels are really in need of a refresh.

I used to watch a reasonable amount that was on Sky 1 and 2 but their schedules now are very uninspiring. If it doesn't improve soon, I might just start thinking about how I spend my home entertainment money.

It is strange to find that there is far more good material to watch on the free terrestrial channels than there is on Sky's pay channels. They will have to do better than this to maintain my interest.

It would be good if VM could do a deal with another programme provider or two to give us some decent channels to watch. Whilst I appreciate they don't want to get into content, they could commission other channels to sign up with them.

Boardwalk Empire and Mad Men were good (got the DVDs) but not much else on there that has interested me.

Thought I might like Treme until I saw the excerpts.

Game of Thrones
Penny Deadful
True Detectives
The Following??
Fortitude

Just a few that I would watch on Atlantic, but I've waited for most to come on dvd, so I'll do the same for Fortitude. I have too much to watch from shows on Fox, Universal, Watch and Sky1, even Syfy... that will keep me going until Fortitude is out on dvd anyway lol

Fortitude has not had particularly good reviews and sounds boring to me. Penny Dreadful I thought I'd like but was put off by the excerpts. The Following sounds like a foreign series I started to watch with subtitles which I tired of fairly quickly.

I would be prepared to give True Detectives a go, but if this is the only programme that I haven't yet seen available on Sky Atlantic, it really does make me wonder why Sky think this channel is worth the hype.
