but, most of the time they sit in their display boxes.

It’s an odd one, I just have this thing about watches , mechanical ones fascinate me , not all of them are expensive , I’ve got everything from a £50 Casio right up to very silly money ones.

I also have the same thing with trainers

I suspect it’s psychological tbh

Zero credit card debt , after getting myself into serious financial troubles in my early twenties, any credit card spending is paid off in full each month

Luckily I'm in the same situation being able to pay off my CC every month, which reminds me it's due today!

I do every now and then allow myself to pay a little interest. For example Paypal have given me a 2k credit limit. I often buy tech off ebay but normally only from firms I deal with normally and the credit charge on Paypal is monthly so say I buy something for £250 @ 12.9% but pay off £200 straight away and let then charge pennies interest on the £50 they have made a profit and it improves my credit rating and keeps me getting increases which in turn helps my credit score. I keep getting booting from cards that I had a long time that made no profit

I've had the same 1 credit card for 20+ years and pay it off in full apart from the 2 times I forgot. I've no idea what my credit score is I've never checked but I would expect it to be very high.

Edit - I nervously just checked it in my banking app it says 673/710 so I guess I'm relieved nothing appears dodgy. Is 710 always the MAX score limit or does change?

Edit - it's the Max for TransUnion UK.

A credit card gives far better purchase protection if something goes wrong, but if you don't trust yourself with a credit card then it's best to avoid.

We pay ours off in full each month, but we put as much as possible on them for the Avios (air miles) points - We have Amex BA Premium Plus (1.5 points per pound spent, with a free Companion ticket if you spend £15k per year) and a Barclaycard Avios card (1 point per pound spent, and we use it in places that don’t take Amex).

The Avios points (and the Companion Voucher) can be used on British Airways, Iberia, and Aer Lingus flights, and you just pay the taxes, nothing else, which means the two of us can fly long-haul Business Class for around £1k - £1.5k, which is nice… :D

Very nice.

I'm wondering if there is a cashback Credit Card I could get that pays better cash back than just Tesco Clubcard points.

There are 3 and you can get the scores free. Experian only gives out limited info free and cut off 3rd party sites a couple of years ago. Clearscore will Give you all your Equifax and you already have access to TransUnion but for those who do not know Martin Lewis has a credit expert that gets you free access

Mine just got battered by 2 hard searches the second was mis sold sim card so I might contest it

That Amazon card is what gave me £40 just for getting the card and will give me another tenner when I activate it on the app and I think it is higher if you are a Prime member and you get less but some points for none amazon sales. I had the last card they did through New Day and did ok out of it

Not paying the ridiculous money I’ve been quoted to get just one side of the grass returfed unless I have too

So if there’s any keen gardeners who can help a novice out with some knowledge/tips on patching grass and overseeding grass I’d be most grateful

Ouch there expensive, I bought a couple of fans off Amazon last year and they're fantastic and alot cheaper.

I couldn't find it on Amazon but it looks something like this but alot cheaper, I bought 2 which worked perfectly in my place.

So if you got 2 for £15 each and they're not too big for then you should be fine.

It's likely not been used enough to clean it to be honest so not sure if it difficult to clean, but it's definitely not junk, they're the best fans I've ever used and super quiet.

They're boxed up in the loft I'll get them down in the summer but as they're bedroom fans they don't get much use, I've got an older normal fan in the living room.

A solid oak, L shaped standing desk for my new office space. It is 2m x 2m and 80cm deep. I would have gone for something smaller, but 2m is a standard size so is cheaper and has quicker delivery. Not cheap but it should last and saves me using different tables and cabinets for equipment. The electrician is coming this week to fit power and ethernet.

Hi paps, I have the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Chromebook which I bought in April 2024.
When my Acer laptop died (using Microsoft and Linux) I decided to break away from Microsoft and I have never looked back. I'm not a gamer, unless I can count 3D Sudoku :D, and find the Lenovo chromebook does everything I want in every other area.
I would be interested to hear how you get on with your new purchase. :)

Ha, same here. I've still got to do the Ferrari Daytona SP3 42143. The original batman car - 76328. The Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E - 42171. And the Wall-E & Eve set.

Not been able to get my head together just lately and everything's been put on the back burner. But been after the Iron Man set since it came out so depending on how a certain hospital appointment goes tomorrow I'm going to start it this weekend.

Oh I've got about 20+ sets to build still. Ran out of space for them all. There is another 5 not in the photo. Like a few speed champions cars, Disney camera, Nintendo Gameboy, Iron Man bust. Some of the smaller ones I can probably get built soon.

Hope your appointment goes well tomorrow.

A young girl advertised an 8 month female persian chinchilla for £600 in my town on gumtree and petsathome. My mum already has a male persian chinchilla 7 year old. The deal looked too good to be true until I later come to know the owner is relocating to another country at short notice. Anyway my mum was suggesting getting a mate for her current cat some time ago so I got permission and went to go get the 8 month old this morning. I got the price down to £500. She, the kitty came in a gym bag like carrier but for cats which I transported to London. She's like a pillow and her personality is soo sweet.

I had a Dutch friend who for many years was a foster carer for a Persian Cat rescue centre which also rehomed Chinchilla Persians.

The Chinchilla was her favourite and she ended up adopting two 10 year old sisters. After she died her daughter inherited them so they continued to have a slave who pandered to their every wish.

Such sweet loving cats, I envy your mum.

Circlip pliers and a Door Handle Spring Repair Kit (ten 2.5-turn, 2mm thick, 30mm diameter coils plus ten circlips) yesterday, so I’ve spent yesterday evening and this morning replacing eight door handle springs which had broken (we have a six year old grandson who visits/stays over frequently, and the wear & tear on the door handles led to a lot of floppy door handles).

Never done this before, so the first three were a learning curve (some swearing may have been involved), but the next five went quickly.

I originally wasn't keen on the latest A3 but the Black Edition looks very nice in my opinion.

I wasn't going to buy anything more powerful as that would bump the road tax upto £600 a year for the first 6 years, this is if a car costs more than 40K new.

I originally wasn't keen on the latest A3 but the Black Edition looks very nice in my opinion.

I wasn't going to buy anything more powerful as that would bump the road tax upto £600 a year for the first 6 years, this is if a car costs more than 40K new.

My A4 was a Black Edition and we loved it but the 2.0 litre 252hp TFSi wasn't the best build quality and it was expensive to run at £65 for 300 miles. The final straw was the plastic water pump that failed at about 50k miles and the local Audi dealer breaking the frame on the driver's seat and bodging it so I didn't notice for 6 months until the bodge failed. We decided to cut our loses and move on.

While not as flashy the electric Volvo XC40 twin motor is a beast of a car with >400 bhp and brings a smile to my face every time I put my foot down.

I do miss the Audi though. It was the sales manager's car so when new in 2018 he specked it to spend £49980 of his £50000 allowance. It had pretty much every option and extra. I'd wager it was the only A4 of that speck for miles around if not in the country. When we traded it in the Volvo garage admitted they were struggling to value it.

I've currently got an A3 2018 S Line and the only trouble a few weeks ago was 2 garages had trouble removing the oil filter.

This new car is a huge step up for me because it's my first semi automatic and first with reversing camera as well as lane guidance and god know what else. It'll be like Christmas until the novelty wears off or a curb the first alloy wheel!

Just updated my insurance and that's another payment of £168 for the remaining 9 months, seems a lot.
