Thanks den and weenie, ugh I don't think I can cope with seeing the world at half 4 every morning. Work was good, got the hang of it and must remember to take my own pen with me next time.

Whatever happens, tomorrow is a day off. Collapsing on the sofa with a pizza for tea, then bed. Nice relaxing bath tomorrow morning. Might appreciate it more tomorrow.

Well Done Marc, ;)

A neighbour's towering leylandii are being cut. A "hedge" 10 metres wide 14 metres high.

The council had given the house owner 56 days to reduce them to 2 metres height. and remove any branches overhanging the gulley.

Today is day 52.

My letter to the council asking for access to the locked gulley they straddle worked. The owner thought he could get away with them as they were, but they are in contravention of the Highways Act as the gulley belongs to the council.

He must also unblock the gulley to the rear of his home.

And his immediate neighbour must replace the gulley fencing and paving he removed.

RESULT!!!! Sod the High Hedges Law and it's £360 fee for inspection. More light for my garden (they used to shade it for around 3 hours a day).

Big problem with Leylandii is that they take very badly to being lopped. Yew is a much better choice as it can be kept in check without turning brown.

I believe they were planted 30 years ago by a neighbour who didn't like his immediate neighbours' large shed. He wanted them to "screen off the monstrosity".

Pettiness, and a touch racist if you knew the rest of the story....

Why not get a slow cooker, all self contained.

Yes that is certainly a good idea but alas with everything from the kitchen in the other rooms space is non existent apart from walking space from room to room :walk::tiptoe: and chairs to sit on as you cannot swing a cat here currently but hopefully by the end of next week the kitchen will be all finished.:cleader:

I'm so pleased for you den as I know first hand just how much of a upheaval a new kitchen causes I bet you will notice a huge difference. I bet you have missed the home cooking, I know my lot did and I never thought my hubby & kids would ever get fed up with Chinese, fish & chips from the chippie etc but they did.
