Channel 5 HD deal was signed the day before it was added on it launch day.

They could always spread the cost across all services and customers with the next price increase. Little bit extra on phone call costs, higher rise on broadband cost etc, just to cover it. So they could always hide the extra costs if they wanted to do it that way, which would stop non-sport fans complaining about an increase in price.

My total number of channels has gone up by 4 overnight, yet no VISIBLE channels have launched on the epg. Could those 4 new channel streams be BT Sport 1 & 2 SD & HD?

My total channels have also gone up from 419 to 423 overnight on my TiVo box...... Fingers crossed.
