Cable Forum - What have you just bought?

Two low voltage halogen light kits, bathroom rated, and (electronic) transformer to fit for a mate tomorrow. Could have got them on Amazon or Ebay but B&Q were actually quite competitively priced. :shocked:

Have to use low voltage as his mains is 255+ volts and destroys GU10s in minutes: I've never seen halogens go black before.:( Most mains LED offerings on the general market are rubbish.

I can get the good stuff trade (GE / Panasonic) but it's also all a matter of aesthetics. I hope he's happy with my choice.

Erm if his voltage is that hig his supplier should supply bulbs free

I'd bought a single phillips LED GU10 from Wickes a while back as a bit of an experiment and found it to have a nice colour and pretty similar beam angle to the other GU10s in the fitting. This set of 3 is a slightly cooler yellow, but as it's the only branded 3 pack about (the fitting takes 4 bulbs) and the price was right I decided to go for it.

The light output's good, and I'm going from the original 4x25w halogens to 4x4w LEDs (equivalent 35w). That means I get 140W of lighting power versus 100W with the halogens, but for just over half the energy use of one halogen bulb.
