Naughty naughty.

Why are none of these clauses clubs seem to be routinely inserting in contracts not being investigated, I seem to remember a certain club paying over 30 million quid for "transgressions" considerably less serious than the ones mentioned on here in the last few Weeks.

Shouldn't the match should be abandoned once a teams down to seven.

There was a classic match in Argentina where the ref sent everyone of, including subs, managers, staff totaling 36 before abandoning the match presumably

Would have liked to have gone to the match today to see/hear the reception for the 1992 committee, I shall be otherwise engaged reading my 'father of the bride' speech.

I have not missed a single home game this season and TBH the atmosphere at OT has been fantastic even when United have played poorly the fans have been terrific in their support of the team and Moyes for that matter.

Russ 26-04-2014 10:55

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

In two minds about LVG. On one hand Moyes messed it up so much he's almost made it impossible for another primate to get in. I've said all along the only manager I'd be satisfied with Mourinho. Regardless of his defensive tactics he does bring success wherever he goes and I'm pretty sure in 10 or 15 years time he'll be regarded as at least an equal to SAF but I can't see Chelsea letting him go.

However LVG does have a history of the sort of success United are used to. Not sure 62 is the right age but given the fact there doesn't seem to be anyone else in the running I'm quietly hopeful. I just wish he'd bring Mike Phelan back, or Carlos Queiroz.

It wasn't just the result, it was the belief in the performance, the confidence in Giggs and his new staff etc, none of which Moyes came anywhere near emulating.

When people try to say we shouldn't blame Moyes etc, just ask yourself would SAF have stood for midfield stats as awful as those.

:) The Infantile one or the one whose antics get everyone moaning about him whilst forgetting about how the team's played. The press anyway.

I didn't realise until today that Atletico are also playing today, later in the day than Chelsea are. I wonder if they will play their reserves?

Yup and Bayern and RM played yesterday although Bayern played earlier in the day than RM. tbh there was more concern over Bayern playing on Friday prior to ties vs Arsenal while Arsenal played Saturday/Sunday. 'Arsenal like to cry' ;)

Who knows, but they won't have as many unavailable on Wednesday as us, that's why the threat is there. They'd have played a day or two earlier if Valencia hadn't been involved in the Europa league last Thursday. Themselves and Real were offered the chance to postpone last weekends games though. Real took the offer up, Atletico didn't.

Bayern have been able to rest as many as they've wanted recently seeing they won the league ages ago.

Defeats are never easy to take though so its kind of irrelevant.

I think that depends if you've walked the league in record time though. However we line up today, us and others have blown our chances of the league over the last month or two. If Jose has decided to prioritise next Wednesday over today, it's not handed them the title, they already have one hand on it. Red card for Cardiff!

That record wont buy them a pass to the final. Performances will and Bayerns performances have dropped. I was more fearful of Peps Barca side than this Bayern side.

I know that, but resting a few players with the knowledge the league is already yours is a position everyone left in the Champions League would like. They're more like the Barca of the last couple of years I think. Dominate with the ball, but up against a well organised defence they can struggle. Bayern had it all with Jupp Heynckes in his last couple of seasons. I wonder how he feels when he watches them now?

thenry 27-04-2014 13:01

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

Barca were better imo. Bayern in my eyes can crumble a lot easier than Barca would. I get resting players and all but defeats are defeats, they take toll on anyone. I mean defeats against Dortmund wouldn't be welcomed. They can say well the Leagues ours, the record blah blah but a win on the day is massive whatever level it is. That boost then helps going forward. I remember Arsenal a fair few years ago when the young guns use to do one better than the seniors and that had a massive impact. If all this perfection bullcrap is to be believed then it should be on show which it isnt. I see it similar to Man Utd tbh. fear factor, take that away and they can be easier got at.

Mr Pharmacist 27-04-2014 13:12

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

Well Barca have definitely lost a lot of their fear factor this season. As have United I agree. But like Barca, if you open up against Bayern, they'll batter you. Sturridge on the bench today. Tomas Kalas plays centre back with Ivanovic. Chelsea team v Liverpool: Schwarzer; Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Kalas, Cole; Lampard (c), Mikel, Matic; Salah, Ba, Schurrle. 4-3-3 I'd say. Subs v Liverpool: Hilario, Ake, Cahill, Van Ginkel, Baker, Willian, Torres. Liverpool team to play Chelsea: Mignolet, Johnson, Flanagan, Skrtel, Sakho, Gerrard, Allen, Lucas, Coutinho, Sterling, Suarez

Yep, hence different tactics for different games. Well, not for everyone.

Anyway, I'm off to the pub. Enjoy the games, and if you're given a sniff after the Chelsea game City, don't blow it!

Chelsea game plan seems to be do what you can to get Liverpool wound up, they do something and get a player or two sent off and then we go and smash them for a couple of goals.

Yet more deplorable tactics from the 'Special One'. Sooner he leaves the English game the better.

I really hope Sunderland stay up now, even though it will make my confident assertion that they were goners a couple of weeks ago seem foolish. I love a great escape and if anyone deserves it from that bottom lot I think it's Sunderland's fan base.
