Would they be able to use some nice Red Christmas Ribbons alternating with some lovely gold tinsel? I am sure Natalie will have some left over from her Christmas preparations that you could take in . :)

Well 'surprise, surprise!', in the immortal words of Cilla - I'm off to a funeral later and have just discovered to my extreme relief and pleasure that the smart black suit I bought for a wedding 5 years ago* still fits and feels comfortable!!!! I was really dreading the prospect that I've 'expanded' more than I thought... :)

A battery operated xmas light decoration decided to leak battery acid (overnight) onto our 20+ year old solid tudor oak coffee table and made a right mess of it. The table itself at the time was about £300+ and we have a matching corner TV unit which was really expensive, both can not be replaced now.

The happy part is that we googled a french polisher in the local area (on a Sunday), and as luck has it he lives about 5 doors away from us which is really bizarre. So he came round, said he'll do it a couple of days after xmas, strip / sand the top down and redo it all for £45. So 20+ years of wear and tear (and 1 small burn) and the large acid burn will hopefully be sorted.

Well chuffed. But mainly a major panic situation is over.

I had a similar thing, last year I was rabbit sitting as I put the key in the lock and turned it, it broke, I could still use it by putting the other part and turn but for safety I needed a locksmith.

I found a neighbour who was a locksmith, I was in when he can and he was able to remove the broken bit, should have cost over £40, but only cosr £20.

Sensei Osem Jnr has literally just been awarded his 2nd Dan Black Belt!!! I can't tell you how hard he's worked and how dedicated he's been since he started training when he was 11 years old. When presenting him his certificate his Sensei (a former English champion) said he'd not only comfortably satisfied all the technical aspects required but has also become a first class instructor and fully deserved his award. To say we are proud of him would be an understatement! :D

Drinks and celebrations tonight methinks! :drunk: :drunk: :drunk:

My style of Kung FU has 5 degrees of black sash. You have to train a minimum of 6 years to attain the first. You can attain a black belt in the kick boxing in 2.

Believe it or not they were given to a local charity in bulk by Waitrose and the local charity could not find enough people to give them to. A friend of mine was tasked to get rid of the surplus to friends and family. He turned up with a car full

each come with a recipe book and a meat thermometer also

Thanks Tinky. :)

Put it this way. Yes plenty more Dan grades to aim for - it takes a lifetime really as the process of development never really stops. This belt took him 3 1/2 years and involved his own personal training of 4-6 hours per week plus teaching of at least that, officiating at competitions, gradings etc. as well as satisfying all the relevant technical performance elements. The next Dan grade will take him a minimum of 4-5 years to achieve and it gets harder as you progress.

What started as a way to help him with his fitness and self confidence really has turned into something far more than that. It's a massive part of his life now and I can't see him ever giving it up.

Good luck Russ. I would like to settle down one day, have a kid and all that. It's funny, until I started that work placement and met the girl who I have fallen head over heels for, I had never thought about marriage or children. Now, it is my number one goal to do by the time I am 40. So gives me another 10 and a half years to achieve my goal.

Two very happy thoughts.

Grandson's first Birthday today and had to laugh when he enjoyed playing with the wrapping paper and empty boxes more than the actual presents. His giggles light up my life.

Had my 4th treatment on new Years Eve and now have a month's break. Feel well enough to have my Christmas lunch tomorrow and am really looking forward to spending the day with all my family and pulling some overdue Crackers. :)

Oh my goodness dilli!!!!!!. You are totally incorrigible. :D

As for myself I hope to do a tandem skydive at sometime in the future. Had one booked for last year but had to cancel it when life got in the way.

I'd let them push me over the edge in my wheelchair if I could talk them into it :)

I'd like to do skydiving but I have a large irrational fear of flying :(

Wuss, you're only flying one way!

Was it new or old prisoner?

Funnily enough Doreen is the only character that's more attractive in the old series than the new, not many top dogs running around in it now.

I woke early one morning,
the earth lay cool and still
when suddenly a tiny bird
perched on my window sill.

He sang a song so lovely
so carefree and so gay,
that slowly all my troubles
began to slip away.

He sang of far off places
of laughter and of fun,
It seemed his very trilling,
brought up the morning sun.

I stirred beneath the covers
crept slowly out of bed,
and gently lowered the window
and crushed his blooming head.

Tomorrow is Friday.

Meself and the cats are spending the entire weekend lolling about in our jammies, snuggled up by the roaring gas fire. There will be wine (gallons if it tastes nice), kitty treats (lots, the cats are greedy buggers, especially The Onion) and possibly peanuts. Monday is but a dark cloud in a galaxy far, far away.

**Sigh** bring it on.....

So, I took 9 antacid tablets between Monday and this morning and still felt like rubbish. Took one anti sickness pill before tea, and have felt the best I have ever felt since before my first vomiting blood incident in December. Hopefully a course of antacids, anti sickness pills and Gaviscon can help beat this acid reflux once and for all.

GP says not an ulcer, he felt my stomach and said if he had touched where an ulcer was I would have jumped off the couch and screamed in pain. So that is excellent news.

I had really bad acid reflux due to stress and anxiety about my job, ended up on Proton pump inhibitors, they were brilliant.

I have a hiatal hernia, and for years I thought it was an ulcer. Countless times of puking up coffee grounds coloured bile, constant heartburn, GERD, tightness in the chest etc but it took a endoscopy to be diagnosed with the hernia. Sounds like it could be a possibility. I now take double doses of Omeprezole and careful of what I eat seems to help a lot.

Boots - to cut a long story short let me have a blood testing machine for free as my old one broke (I didn't get it from there in the first place or anything). All their idea.

Very nice.

(Best not mention the results when I Got it home OR the ketone levels') ;) :(

Just took part in the West Glamorgan Cross Country League run for my club and smashed my XC pace, 5.5 miles in 42.43, with 7.46 minute miling - no idea how I managed it but really happy at that!

And on the back of that I went out and cracked 8 miles this morning for the first time in my life - 8.6 miles in total. Bring on the Llanelli half marathon :)

My mum only needs a partial knee replacement, but her left knee is also getting knackered. Thank God she doesn't need a whole new knee though. Hopefully getting it done beginning of March. Her employer, a school, has a private medical scheme as part of its perks. 18 week wait on NHS.

Nice.

For the first time in a month, been able to eat a meal without the need for an antacid or anti sickness pill. Forgot to take them today, and so far not suffering. Please God let it have shifted.

My mum had an ulcer and when the Dr touched her stomach and she didn't leap in pain, she lost 3 stone though.

Take a note of what you eat, try and avoid spicy & fatty foods.

Had the renewal letter for our RAC Breakdown Cover this morning. John has been a continuous member since 1965 and, as I want to feel covered for all eventualities, we have the top cover available for driving in the UK.

£225.00!!!!! checked on line and had a strop when I found that if we were allowed to renew on line I would have got a £71.00 discount but as John hadn't joined on line we were refused the option. Checked out the AA and the same cover as a new member with them was £149.00

Strop intensified and I phones up ready to do battle.

Got a lovely lady who listened to my complaint, put me on hold for a couple of minutes, then came back and ..... exactly the same cover for £111.00

£114.00 saved, I feel a shoe shopping expedition is in order. :D
