I love being debt free, the closest I come is my credit card, but I pay that off monthly.

I have set a figure in my account say £3,000 and below that I'm in the red.

Its a great buffer which goes up as funds go up.

Excellent, always nice to be debt free and to keep it that way, if you have a dodgy credit rating(you can check) you should look into improving it.

My understanding is you need some debit to get a good rating.

i.e have a credit card and I pay it off everytime.

Mine also, it is a good idea to have a credit card and pay it off every month to build a good or clear a bad credit rating.

A credit card is only a good idea if the user consistently pays it off each month as in the wrong hands it can have pretty bad consequences in my opinion.

Absolutely, there are alot of irresponsible people about when it comes to money.
