Suppose we are still only half way through the month.....

..... and NTL did say by the end of June.

I think the phrase 'end of June' may end up etched in the deepest darkest place in my mind for all eternity.

The upgrade to 10meg would take less time as it was a smaller percentage of the customer base the 2mb is the largest part.

The phrase all good things comes to those who wait comes to mind, be patient it will happen one day

I am back on 4 meg this morning, and the web browsing is not as slow as it was the other day while downloading, so hope it stays that way.;)

Still only getting an extra 1 meg in average though:

Thu, 15 Jun 2006 08:34:47 UTC

1st 512K took 1390 ms = 368.3 KB/sec, approx 3035 Kbps, 2.96 Mbps
2nd 512K took 1437 ms = 356.3 KB/sec, approx 2936 Kbps, 2.87 Mbps
3rd 512K took 1453 ms = 352.4 KB/sec, approx 2904 Kbps, 2.84 Mbps
4th 512K took 1452 ms = 352.6 KB/sec, approx 2905 Kbps, 2.84 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 2945 Kbps, 2.88 Mbps

I could be wrong but maybe the config file has been called the same just so it overwrites the last one. I am on a STB but in computer terms it looks like they have just changed a setting in the file and clicked save instead of Save as, sent it out and then when you reboot the modem will check the file and allow a faster throughput. After all, if it is set to the middle section of speeds there should be no reason to change much. my STB says ***.mid.stb or such cos there is only 1mb, 4mb and 10mb.

Sounds like common sense to me but hey this is NTL maybe not. As long as it works will it matter?
:)

I'm in HG3 and my connection was quite slick this morning... before I came to work I ran a speed test and it was still 2meg... but it seemed slick anyhow so I can't complain... if I had the choice between 4meg as erratic as it is now, and 2meg stable I'd sooner stay on 2meg.... but if it's 2meg erratic or 4meg erratic then I'll go for the faster erratic! :erm:;)

I'm willing to bet after my post a week or so back about 'I wonder which area will end up being upgraded last', Harrogate area will end up being one of those areas hahahaha..
