Arsenals British core will be strengthened if Rooney joins Arsenal. Wenger will no doubt get Wilshere and Rooney ticking... good news for England right!

Rooney's a busted flush in my humble opinion and we shall see on CE as he has repeated on many occasions his love for Liverpool.

Paris haven't quite won the title yet. Apparently, there is still a chance they will be docked points for someone shoving a ref. If they are docked 2 points, then it has to go to the last match of the season. So at the moment they are provisional champions.

Needs someone to get the dressing room back onside, they haven't become a bad team overnight and second in the league and in the FA Cup after two seasons of winning a trophy for the first time in 35 years is a performance that will be hard to better.

Why all the criticism for Rooney, He's been replaced by RVP essentially and has been playing out of position most of the time for a while now. He's the 6th highest scorer overall in the Premier League and will keep climbing and realistically finish second behind Shearer at some point unless he hit's massive form and bags 100 goals from now until retirement. He is the best English striker available by far.

I'd likely have the same mindset as Rooney and see Arsenal and Chelsea as the best destinations. He'll start firing properly again when the switch comes, hopefully not abroad.

I'd love a player like Rooney right about now and I still remember the bidding war between Newcastle & Man United for him when he was 18 but realistically Freddy Shepherd was being a Moron and could have bankrupted us had he won that bidding war. I don't think Rooney would have been as good at Newcastle either. Brings back the question of how many more goals could Shearer have scored at United.

The whole situation makes me laugh. Last time he pulled this stunt to get a new contract he said it was because the club were lacking ambition and not signing enough world class players...so the club sign a world class player and he loses his place in the team! It could be argued that he has himself to blame for the situation he finds himself in. And why he asked for a transfer before the end of the season i will never know or understand. Hes just made the title celebrations awkward for him, the other players, manager and fans. Wait until the end of the season! I hope he enjoyed not playing, getting booed and the awkward handshake with Fergie yesterday. Maybe over the summer he will grow a braincell and realise the mistakes he has made, but i seriously doubt the United fans will be as forgiving as last time if he stays.

There is going to be one big problem at Spurs during the new transfer window.

Levy will wait till the very last minute and try and get a player on the cheap, He won't buy Rooney due to his high wages. Spurs have a wage limit at the club and wont break it, With Bale, Levy will add on bonuses, and wont break the bank, thats a gurranteed certainy. And being a big Spurs fan, we know about Daniel.

I would prefer someone less troublesome than Rooney, maybe younger too. There must be someone better for £25 million and £200,000 in salary. Jovetic and Villa maybe? Also a midfielder and right back? We'll see. Giroud is fine btw. Not amongst the world's best but a decent forward.

Giroud is fine. It's not been a bad first season. We just need more. Players like Giroud add depth if we had another class striker. It gives us cover and someone to come on or partner the main forward. Jovetic isn't bad. Jovetic and Remy maybe.

Rooney falls out with managers, he is expensive and his fitness is questionable.

thenry 13-05-2013 21:00

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

Giroud has barely touched the ball in the last couple of games prior to his dismissal. We've literally played with 10 men. that said Pods been awful too. I get scared of the word depth now, they just drain resources at Arsenal. Should Arsenal go for quality over quantity and throw youngsters in to make up the numbers?

I've not seen too much of Jovetic to comment. If his stats are anything to go by then 100k and 25m isn't worthy, ok he has double digit goals per season but its below 14.. can he step up? people say Wenger can get more out of him

Could be construed as arrogance to sack a manager just because a team didn't win anything for one year, gives the impression that said people think that spending a huge amount of money entitles them to win every time.;)

I'm not a City supporter & wasn't commenting on that or your owners attitude. The players, albeit instilled by SAF, believe that they have a right to win the trophy every year. That is arrogance...

Am really not looking forward to tomorrow night. Should a miracle happen, forgive me for having a few hours gloating about Wigan. Expecting Arsenal to put the final nail in the coffin though. Wigan will be back, as long as they can keep Martinez which seems like they will have a fight on their hands to do.

I don't know. Championship seems a scary place to go to.

I seem to remember a few Arsenal players saying the same thing the second time they won it, funnily enough I don't remember hearing the same thing from Chelski but if you have won it 13 times I suppose it can feel as though you 'own' it. :)

How many times did Brazil win the World Cup before they gave it to them?

Speaking of your club, what are your thoughts on the current Cortese situation?

Interesting though...

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

Hmmm,

not sure about this bit, do you think they would have gone down with Nigel Adkins?

Cortese feels he has proved he has handled the club well and his decision, controversial at the time, to replace Nigel Adkins with Argentinian manager Mauricio Pochettino four months ago has paid off with the Saints having all but secured Premier League status for next season.

Football doesn't work like that. It's not a traditional business. It's not as if Manchester City were mid-table or drastically failed.

It is a bit harsh, I do agree. CL group of D'eath. PL - RVP at Utd. League Cup knocked out by Villa. FA Cup, well it meant little. City had Pellegrini down as the next manager prior to the final so the result meant little to Mancinis future at City.

and just to add, put Mancini at Arsenal for the past 7 years and ask yourself if Arsenal would get CL year in year out throughout a slow decline. I have my issues with Wenger but Mancini had the resources. Sorry but I couldn't careless. Inefficiencies.

If members are thinking that Arsenal are going to walk over Wigan, think again. Wigan need to win to stay up, Arsenal need to win to get CL football.

My prediction Arsenal 2 Wigan 4.

Wenger wouldn't leave. Sacking the manager isn't the answer to everything. Rodgers has spent more than Wenger and he hasn't been fired.

We're going to have to go to game together one day. May be then in person I'll be able to knock some sense into you  I feel confident. Its raining. We do well when it rains.

Last year we had Santos start, Djourou started too. Arteta went off early. It was crap from the get go.
