UBISoft

They are giving Far Cry 4 game free to Prime customers, but you have to jump through bloody hoops.

I have to link my Prime to UBISoft, It didn't like the password so I reset it.

It then says password invaild, now its locked me out for too many attemps.

Wilkinson's (Wilko) declining £45 cashback on topcashback saying we hadn't followed the terms and conditions. We clicked through from the topcashback site and spend £900 in good faith on garden furniture. Seems we're doomed never to have any luck with garden furnitre:shocked:.

It is hit and miss with cashback. I've had over £2k, from that site over the years though deals aren't as good as they used to be, and sellers are increasingly using any excuse not to pay out.

Too late, ordered and delivered in March. The missing cashback claims take so long which is a pain. It's not the first time Wilkinson's have declined cashback but they normally reverse the decision. £45 was obviously too much for them!

Couldn't agree more, the offers aren't as good but I suppose something is better than nothing for example, the cashback from Sainsbury's deliveries is normally more than the delivery charge.

Like you we've had more than £2k, and if you couple it with a cashback credit card you can quite quickly build up a few £'s for nothing.

Great minds think alike. Cashback credit cards are the only ones to have. I've got an old one from Halifax that still pays out 2% on all fuel / groceries. Its my best friend ;) Can't get anything near that any longer .

Last years car insurers who presume that you automatically want to renew your policy with them and deduct money from your bank account without authorisation. So you end up having to phone them for a refund. :banghead:

Autorenew? They should have told you in advance what they were ripping you off for. Always opt out of such an arrangement.

My insurer sends me a letter well prior to renewal detailing clearly the new price, the current price and the change. This is in addition to changes in the policy terms.

The RAC offered us a renewal, that weekend (Jubilee) the AA had a special offer, better cover and less than half the price. We called RAC to cancel and they upgraded our cover and beat the price by £1. Worth phoning around.

'FAQS' - usually listed after some new policy has been revealed.
How do they know they are faqs if something has just been announced?
More like these are the questions we'd like to answer and are not open to any others !

Basically the same as any commercial service provider … seeing as the FAQs implicitly admit ahead of time the things that can go wrong with the service, they use them as an extension of their marketing by having the FAQs suggest all problems are trivial and easily fixed. None of the problems that actually drive you to read FAQs are ever listed there.

Hope you feel better soon, nerve pain is awful. I suffer from cervical spondylosis and regularly suffer from radiating pain in my arms along with constant reduced grip in my hands and in my right arm the pain you get when you bang your funny bone. Been waiting for the neurosurgery dept at Sheffield to put me under the knife which hopefully will stop it getting much worse. I have accupuncture which I find helps (on the NHS & private), everyone's different but it may give you some relief.

Called Virgin to renegotiate 12 days earlier than I needed to. No offers so I said put my 30 days notice in and they said it would cost me £10 something to do it now but nothing if I wait till the 23rd of this month which is 30 days before my deal ends. I am not on a contract so dunno how they justify a charge for that

Anywho I will call again and likely have to put my notice in to get a good deal but tbh I am ready now to give VM the boot and go FTTC as BT do a fair enough deal and will upgrade me to Full Fibre 100 when it arrives within the year. Sick of everything VM hate how they try and screw customers whenever possible

Hue lights....

Never straight forward when you want to swap out 2 out of 5 lights in one room. Then find out you've got to redo every scene, widget, and switch all over again which is a bit of a nightmare.

Chris 15-07-2022 10:42

Re: Moans and Pet Hates - Part 8

Smart lights are *almost* more trouble than they’re worth. I keep it strictly to one bulb per room, just so it’s always possible to put lights on or off if my hands are full or for security when we’re all away. But when you try to set up complex combinations you always end up spending more time maintaining it than you save from manually switching things on and off.

We have been quite lucky with our online orders so far with just 2 or 3 substitutions usually.

The worst supermarket online is Tesco who cancelled 2 orders in a row a while back.

Now its Sainsbury's and Morrisons for us.

Virgin Media Retentions

Called got through to Indian Call centre. Was chatting away got cut off called again got through to UK and was then plied with so much excrement it is unbelievable

Gave her a chance to offer me a deal, said I am not bothered if you drop my speed to which she said you downloaded about 1TB in the last month you are maxing out the 200 meg. I said excuse but if if I was maxing out the 200 meg then I would be downloading terabytes everyday.

She then decided to try another approach saying that if I drop the speed then the modem might drop out or I might get buffering when streaming. To which I told her that 3 of us could stream 4K all day on 100 Meg so I dunno where she was getting her faqs

Anyway ended up offering me a deal which was not good enough especially as it will go up again in April so I put my notice in to end when the contract I am apparently on but is not on my account anywhere for me to see ends on Aug 23rd.

They need to offer me a stonking deal this time as I feel like it is time to go on Openreach so I can be a new customer every contract and get all the lovely 80 to 100 quid gift cards they give away every now and then

Psoriasis. I only get it occasionally and usually mild but this time quite bad. Itchy does not even begin to describe it. Unfortunately it's also gone into my hands like nasty paper cuts and is affecting the finger nails. Not pretty.

Good thing it's not infectious as it's an auto-immune response.

Mr T fell yesterday and broke his (bad) leg, he was being operated one this afternoon. Hospital is not answering the phone. That will make two of us hobbling about. :(

Thank you Den. Apparently it peaks at around 25 and then again around 60.

I didn't get it much when I was younger but I did get dreadful hay fever which is a related condition.

Mr T's operation was postponed as urgent cases came in, today is fully booked, so hopefully tomorrow he will be 'done'. :(

Hate when this happens. I got bumped twice for one operation but the year before when it was me needing to be operated on immediately due to a perforated appendix I really understood why these decisions have to be made. I am sure Mr T will be seen as quickly as possible and then be home soon after.

I got up this morning and had to crawl on my hands and knees to the toilet, my hip was so painful. I've had this pain now for 42 days despite 2 visits to the Chiropractor, 1 lot of acupuncture and one deep massage by physiotherapist. It was suggested to me that I put a pillow between my knees when sleeping, I tried it last night, it didn't work. Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated. :(

After trying all sorts of medication without success , the Doc decided to go old school and prescribed cheap and cheerful amitriptyline. It doesn't work 100% but the pain in my arms is bearable (even the constant feeling of having banged my funny bone) and the migraines are now so rare I can't remember when the last one was. Wonder if it may help?

Many thanks for that Grim, but I am already on 2 x 10mg amitriptyline a night, plus I take zapain (POM) 2 tablets every 4-5 hours, and Fenbid gel nothing is working. Strange that his pain keeps moving around, it started in my right hip and has gradually move to the left.

It only took me only 35 minutes in queue number 13 to get through to the Doctor's surgery this morning, that is a result! However I wonder how many days before I get a telephone consultation.

Hospitals are terrible for getting through.
When my wife was in hospital I would phone up, finally after getting through I would get put through to the ward, and then either no one would pick up, or if they did pick up and say they will go and find out some information for you, someone else would put the phone back down and cut you off.

My mum had pain relief pills in a childproof lock that she couldn't open, she had to ask her young grandkids to open.

Mine is the easy open/close zip lock they put on grated cheese that take about 10 minutes to shut.

My sister brought us one of those food vacuum sealer things that uses those kind of bags with a hole with a seal where you suck the air out. Great when they work first time but half the time you have to re-open and close because its not working and you can't find out where the gap in the seal is. Fiddly!

Don't want to be 'that linux guy' but I really do hate Windows, especially Windows 10. I needed to have it installed on one of my laptops because what I was doing wasn't feasible in a virtual machine.

First month running on the laptop, no issues. Then it had issues doing some updates and spent half a day doing stuff and rebooting. The last month I keep getting blue screens, mostly Cache Manager and sometimes an 'Internal power' or something issue. The cache manager has started to happen daily now.

If I boot a live linux ISO on the machine and use that for a few days, no issues at all.

So im blaming Windows 10 rather than RAM on its way out or something.

Bought a pack of microwave rice from Aldi. Tore corner and cooked but on opening fully, rice shouldn't be green and smell like that, I think the packet seal was compromised. Fortunately I spotted before I tipped into the curry and only cost 35p.

Are you able to see him?

After my dads surgery for a perforated Ulcer, he was on a ventilator in ICU (He had covid before he went in.) So my sister and I had to done full body PPE and wear an air filtration mask, and saw him everyday.

We didn't stay too long as he was in an induced coma.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates - Part 8

Ordered 3 items from Amazon. I cancelled prime a while back but order was over £20 so qualified for free delivery.

Get a delivery of one package with one item in it but a status update and email saying that all 3 items are delivered. It says another item should have been in the package with the item I got and the last item in a second package.

This came via my postman (instead of an amazon driver) who arrives early and always hands the parcel to you after ringing your doorbell and is the best posty ever so won't be to blame. He scanned/photo'ed the one package so at least shows only one package was there.

Amazon refunded me the amount for the two missing items but when I went to re-order, it was going to cost more than it cost to buy the 3 items before because of an additional £7.99 charge for being under £20. One item less but costing more!

Complained that I shouldn't have to pay delivery because of their mistake and explained the whole lot but I think it was foreign chat support who didn't understand and the result was they refunded me for the item I did receive too.

In the end I re-ordered the 2 missing items and a cheap NFC signal card blocker to get it over £20 so I paid £21 instead of £27.

So stupid and time consuming and now I have to try and be around for another delivery because one of the items they won't deliver to a local shop or amazon locker like I usually do for deliveries.
