Re: Changes to Virgin TV (2021)

Virgin Media do have some spare cash due to FOX being axe as TV Channels by Disney. But BT has come to the table with nothing new to give Virgin Media this time around.

Last time in 2018 BT give Virgin Media the BT Sport UHD Channel.

Maybe for all we know BT wants more pennys per head or Virgin Media wants more % from the BT Sport PPVS*.

*In 2018 BT Sport did not offer WWE on PPV.

In the US you have to subscribe to Peacock to get the WWE Network material - it is not available on the free ad-funded package.
Also, they do not get the weekly Raw and Smackdown shows until at least 28 days after they transmission on other networks as these rights are different. So currently on US Peacock the latest shows are from the last week in June and we are in August.

If Peacock becomes Sky exclusive and they take the WWE network away i'll be fuming haha

Found that two "total channels" has been removed from the NIT overnight.

I think the channels are Get Moving HD (May 1st) and BET (April 8th).

You'll be able to subscribe direct to peacock one would imagine, prices prob similar to USA but in gbp for us so £4.99p/m and £9.99p/m at a guess.

I would have thought that all three tiers would be available on other platforms before long, Legendkiller. Sky just happen to be getting the free ad-adulterated one first.

Would it be an app in its own right or will it just be a pass on Now TV or indeed as part of the Entertainment Pass on Now TV?

I imagine Comcast has had these debates internally and decided a route.

That hasn’t been immediately clear but I saw this tweet from one of Peacock’s Senior Tech People…

https://twitter.com/mattdeco/status/...597383683?s=21

I believe the plan is initially you’ll access Peacock as a section in the Sky platform app and then a standalone app will come later, with Fire TV and Google TV supported at launch

Seems to suggest on Sky and Now it’s integrated into the existing ecosystems - which would make sense given that Peacock was built off the back of them - but a stand-alone will eventually be released, which in itself raises questions about why Comcast would want two potentially competing products in the market but i guess it remains to be seen…

Get Moving has been partly removed. BET was removed early in July.

The most obvious reason to accept a short term contract (over none) is that taking a hit later rather than now is an improved financial outcome. Regardless of how many people genuinely have BT Sport as a factor for subscribing tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, will be onto retentions.
