Rumours seem to be malaga coach. Personally I don't want mourino, I don't like his football (didn't enjoy chelsea's style when he was there)

But to be honest, I just want a change (seen too many questionable decisions by Mancini), and some new good players (of course :D)

Natural pessimist here but I am genuinely worried the dynasty will be over. Unless the new guy fully understands SAF's brain and can wield his level of fear/respect then we'll turn in to Liverpool from 1991 onwards, or Arsenal since 2006.

Really don't think so mate. Think Utd may even push on from this.

Who else would put up with crap from Rooney? Who'd have the testicular fortitude to blow out Stam, Ince, Beckham etc in their prime?

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

I think it's inevitable that United will fall back when/if he leaves. Not by much. They'll still be around the top, challenging for titles, and so on. However they wont dominate in the same way they've done for the last 20 years I don't think.

Russ 08-05-2013 10:11

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

When I went for a tour around OT 3 years ago I got chatting to the tour guide (mainly because I was the only other English-speaker on the tour...) and he told me EVERYTHING at OT runs under SAF's control. Any replacement will have to quickly adapt to that and I don't see any high-level managers having less enough of an ego to work with that. I can't stand being proven wrong but if I turn out to be wrong in this then I'll happily shout it out.

Can't see this happening but the only man I'll be comfortable with taking over is Mourinho. He may be a stroppy idiot who always leaves after 3 or 4 years but where he goes he gets results, big time.

Damien 08-05-2013 10:21

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

A BBC reporter on Twitter saying there may be nothing in the rumours and that no topic was discussed at the golf thing yesterday. Odd for United to have denied it however, quite stupid really....

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

Mind you, he's been in football for so long I doubt he'll be able to leave it altogether and may settle for a more part-time role so as a long shot....manager of Wales? The right manager can make all the difference and we did quite well under Speed. Final challenge for SAF - get Wales to a major tournament?

1. If details of #afc £30m Puma kit deal are accurate, would be highest in England & 2nd highest club deal in world.

Swiss Ramble ‏@SwissRamble
2. But media kit deal figures notoriously inaccurate, eg #lfc £25m Warrior often reported as England's highest, when it is #mufc £25.4m Nike

https://twitter.com/SwissRamble/stat...67368081707008

Swiss Ramble ‏@SwissRamble
3. Also kit deals include performance bonuses => phrases on #afc deal like “could see 5-year contract worth £170m in total” (£34m a year).

https://twitter.com/SwissRamble/stat...67493566881792

4. Another important part of kit deals is share from merchandise sales, eg #lfc allowed to open retail outlets, #mufc 50% of net profits.

David Moyes, decent success on limited budget, universally well liked.

SFA, stellar success at both Aberdeen and United, not universally well liked.

Jose, brilliant success at four different clubs, not universally well liked.

Which is more damning of England than praise of Rooney. Also why would "any club" want Rooney? His form has been off for a couple of seasons and his fitness is questionable. At 28 neither of these things are likely to improve and he causes hassle. £200,000k a week? Pah.

Gallas one wasn't the same season so shouldn't count however.

Mentioning Spurs then, Sacking Harry Redknapp because Spurs didn't qualify for the Champions League (Finished 4th, Chelsea won etc.) and AVB looks set to guide them to 5th... Sheer genius.

That discussion yesterday on SkySports was funny. Harry crossed the line when he media whored Levys mum dying, pushing for a new contract, all of that insensitive act.

yes be interesting to see if they sack AVB if they finish outside top 4 which looks more likely now

Being a Spurs fan for over 30 years, IF we dont finish with CL Football, l will settle for Europa League - 5th place.

I have a sneaky feeling that we WILL get 4th spot. Chelsea and Arsenal have tough games - and we have the easy ones.

It depends on how much cheating Arsenal and Chelsea do.

Arsenal have Wigan at home and Newcastle way Chelsea away to Villa and home to Everton. Three of the bottom clubs, not that difficult I would say. As for cheating? You are joking aren't you? Bale talented as he may be is one of the biggest cheats in the Premiership.

Arther you were boasting about Spurs being the best club in London a few weeks ago. Remember that if one or both of them finish above you.

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

You know even our rivals for CL will not want an Arsenal defeat vs Wigan. If Wigan pick up points then that will put pressure on the teams that face Chelsea and Tottenham.

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

Henkesghost, You are forgetting several things. Wigan have to win games to stay up and Newcastle won't sit around for a hiding, and Aston Villa need to win games to stay up, so if you think Arsenal and Chelsea have an easy ride then you are mistaken.

I glad it will go to the wire, l am waiting to see which one cracks first. And as for Bale being a cheater - Look at Luiz at the weekend, but Arsenal have always been known for cheating, and you only have to blow at a Chelsea player and he will go down. I reckon that it will go down to the last game of the season.
