Fingers crossed for you dilli and whilst you are out tomorrow how about buying a pair of discrete earplugs? They won't block out all the, errrr, interesting sounds Peter will achieve but they will reduce the sound levels a tad. :)

This morning, I got up late. Nearly missed my train which was then diverted away from my destination, so I was late anyway.

Then I spent the morning sorting out problems that occurred over the weekend, before spending time with a student who had chest pains and breathing difficulties. In short, displaying the symptoms of a minor heart attack. Thankfully the ambulance was there a few minutes later and as it turned out, he had a severe panic attack rather than anything more serious. That's my first happy thought (that he hadn't had a heart attack).

Then, after lunch, I spent the afternoon trying to catch up with what I should have done this morning. Hopefully I'll be able to catch up tomorrow.

My second happy thought? I am on my way home and looking forward to a very nice, if unhealthy, chicken in cheese sauce.

Did no characters at all, just good old fashioned stand-up. Though if you closed your eyes you could picture Brian Damage or one of the Balowski boys.

My happy thought today is I think there is a permanent part time position in the warehouse where I am doing my work placement. Think they are lining me up to take the position once my placement is finished. Hope so, love it there.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

Nah, I will still be a grumpy old git. I am grateful for the good luck wishes and digit crossing, etc. I had a suspicion last week when the warehouse supervisor asked me if I would rather be on the shop floor or in the warehouse. As I had only seen the warehouse at that point, I said that I couldn't really say for certain until I had tried it.

Having had a taste of both now, I think I would rather work in the warehouse. I like shelf filling, but trouble is when the only warehouse bloke has a day off the warehouse gets all backed up with cardboard boxes and plastic wrap. Friday afternoon when I left, there was plenty of room for new stock to be delivered and the card and rubbish had been done. Went in Sunday, load of new stock delivered, 6 cages stuffed with card and plastic to be got rid off.

Go in today, and there were loads more pallets in the warehouse. I mean, you had to suck your stomach in to move around the warehouse today. Even skinny people were having to squeeze their stomachs in to move around. Enjoying myself very much there, lovely people so far. I am one of those who looks at someone and can take against them with a first glance. Happy to say, haven't had that feeling so far.

Good luck Dilli. :)

My good news is my vit levels are now all good ish. (That's with regular B12 jabs and 50k Vit D tabs etc). Apart from my Iron is levels are really low but blood count is surprisingly normal but now closely monitored. Also LFTs are all fine considering the amount of alcohol I've got through lately.

The bad news is that I'm booked in for yet another colonoscopy and MRI. Hopefully that'll be after Christmas. I can't do with all that right now.

I still feel like crap but at least it's good news because I thought it would be all the total opposite.

I asked what car it was and it was a Toyota, well I knew who the agent was so I was able to tell them but they had no breakdown service. I remembered the name on some tow trucks that operate locally and advised them. The company was able to come out and give 30mins of roadside plus a tow to a service centre if needed for £70. Not a bad price I reckon.

Just glad to help. Hope the karma helps me.

I'm with you on that one den. The best nurse on my day ward at the moment looks like a real battleaxe, she won't stand for any one messing about and soon knocks any newbies into shape, but, if you need anything she is the one that goes that extra mile.

Oh I forgot my happy thought. I ain't had to go to hospital to-day. Yippeeeeee.

@ dilli. :D My notes now have their own set of wheels. The good thing about having such a large file is that I can always see it when it's in a pile and the reception never has to hunt around for it amongst all the others. I also have a red star on it which get me to the front of most clinics as I usually have multiple appointments and none of the Consultants appreciates my turning up late having been delayed at the previous appointment. :D

Apparently my red stickers on my notes (vol 4 ;) ) are for
allergic to penicillin and Blind.

But I ALWAYS tell the doctor I'm allergic before they give me pills as they ALL seem to miss that ;)

We seem to have more in common dilli then you think as when my GP prescribed antibiotics on Monday to me the first thing he looked at was the old are you allergic to certain antibiotics and l confirmed that l was allergic to such and such and that way no mistakes are made as l don't want to go down that road again.

indeed it's always better to be safe than sorry.

In other news..... I am now on the housing list to get a bigger place (for when I'm on dialysis etc) not as high a priority as I'd expected but at least I'm on the list ;)

Because of your medical conditions you should hopefully get a place quicker then would normally be the case one would hope as some can wait up to 5 years given our severe housing stock shortage.

Good luck to all of you who are going through tough times!

Our youngest is allergic to latex and we're constantly having to remind the various doctors and nurses we see as he can't do it for himself. We remain conscious that there are always plenty of people who're worse off than we are however.

Don't want to sound too confident, but it is now looking like 80% certain I will be given a permanent contract. Apparently good feedback from customers and supervisors, so now to carry on impressing them and hopefully grab that permanent spot.

They are very common as they are virtually indestructible and will survive in almost any situation. A bit like me I hope. :D

Had my hours increaaed today from 20 a week to 30. Now doing same 5 days, but with hours of 10 to 4. Get a 20 minute break during the shift, so am thinking of doing 10 through to 1 and then take my break. Starting tomorrow. Also will be put into warehouse to help them get it into shape, they had a visit from the big bosses yesterday and I think they got a bollocking for the poor state of the warehouse.

Yep, and apparently it is now a straight fight between me and another girl on work placement as to who will get a permanent spot. I feel that we both are actually just as good, and as they have around 5 permanent slots to fill that could bode well for us. But we also have 6 seasonal staff and another 2 work placement people coming in who will be fighting it out for those slots as well.

So I need to get my head down, help them get the warehouse into shape and hopefully land a permanent spot. Wouldn't mind being in warehouse permanently.
