If that were the case she would have left Parliament and gone on to richer pursuits. The fact she remains on the backbenchers and promotes causes such as domestic violence suggests she does have a sense of public service.

What she believes is in the country's interest may not align with your idea of what that is, it didn't align with mine, but that doesn't mean she wasn't acting in bad faith.

the BOE support ends at 4:30 lets see what markets do then

Quite a few Tory MPs are asking - seemingly seriously - "can she last the weekend?" Truss's massive tax u-turn and sacking of Kwarteng may have stabilised markets to an extent. She has not stabilised her own position as prime minister. Au contraire

I think The Sun has lost its way in recent years but The Star has definitely found its voice now. :D

LATEST: Guido Fawkes on Deputy PM call with Tory MPs, trying to calm waters.

Quote:

The Deputy PM Therese Coffey has just concluded a call with Tory MPs, which saw under one third of MPs bother to tune in. Guido’s mole reports that they left the call early as it was “just f***ing awful”, with loyalists continuing to blame the media and “comms” for the tanking poll ratings and market instability. She apparently kept referring to notes…

One MP said it was pointless denouncing the media for instability when it’s the Tory party causing the instability.

Johnny Mercer led the charge against the current situation, calling it “dire” and “unsurvivable”, and saying it’s pointless to pretend otherwise. Guido’s unimpressed red wall source called it all “delusional nonsense”, accusing the deputy PM of being “monotone, dull, and having nothing to say”. Another argues that Coffey sat there as DPM was the “personification of how it’s all gone wrong.” Will the Tories pause tearing each other apart over the weekend? Guido highly doubts it.
