In my original post, I did quote an excerpt from How do I check my TiVo box’s network and system information? which stated:-

This 'household' limitation seems like the only reasonable restriction that providers might impose short of excluding their content from sharing and streaming altogether.

A bit of a mixed bag of responses there isn't there. My understanding from reading many, many posts on DS is that the dynamic Sky EPG is pretty reliable overall.

What my concern would be if say a cup game goes into extra time at the last minute a lack of dynamic EPG would be a bit of a problem. Even if the Tivo gets updated every few hours it possibly wouldn't be much use for that.

I just assumed it would be a feature included but it appears not as it isn't included on the US and original UK version. Never mind.

It does. You can set it manually, or if you put in on automatic it will add 2 mins front and back of the EPG time as long as no other recordings prevent that happening.

However, the EPG still moves dynamically on those channels that manage it properly. Eurosport is one channel that totally fails to manage it properly, causing much frustration, largely because I think they make decisions on a whim about whether to stay with a sport that's overrunning.

Yes your right I was just making the point to others on the forum that just because you can extend recordings on the TIVO box doesn't mean its defo not a dynamic EPG.

Cheers DF I was just a bit curious that's all, it isn't as if i'll be getting it so it's not a deal breaker or anything it was just that the dynamic EPG wasn't mentioned in the manual. I suppose If I did happen to change my mind in the future it is definitely a feature I would expect though.

The TiVo Desktop software (and Toast for the Mac) does seem to allow for recordings to be flagged as protected and won't allow you to copy them. Hopefully that should be good enough for UK broadcasters.

Do restrictions on copying necessarily imply that they can't be streamed in some secure way, perhaps to a supplied app. on the remote device?

just been on the sofa and one of the members has just posted this.
whether it's the truth or not

I have just been speaking to a VM installer this morning,my V+HD STB had packed up again, he said he was on a tivo course the other day and was told the main rollout will not be until june!!
However he did say that VM are trying to "rush-out" (his words), Tivo to 6000 existing VM customers!!
The price he was told will be £99 for existing VM customers and £199 for non-VM`ers, but no word on monthly or VIP pricing.
He also said that there will be two units , one with a 320 GB capacity with sum of the functions disabled and the "big daddy" 1TB with the full premium Tivo service.
It takes 20 minutes to download all of the software at the initail setup of the Tivo. The time is so long he said because the download is coming from the Tivo servers in america!!

Hi Mersey70,this article seems to suggest it does have a dynamic EPG.

Thought i would post before i go out so you could have a browse.:)

Thanks for the link:
Reading through the proposed updates, it seems to suggest that you will be able to stream content from the Tivo box to another VM HD box elsewhere in the house.
That would be a Godsend for me and Mrs. D&C:)
Also streaming to my IPAD would be good, but probably not allowed :(

"20 minutes to download the software and it comes from US servers," that's the funniest thing I've read in a long while on these boards.:D

The software will be preinstalled on the stbs with updates coming from the headends.

Only DF can honestly answer that as question and I doubt it somehow.
