The site spellchecker relies on the user installing ieSpell which then does the checking. As for firefox that means sod all as well over 60% of users still use Internet Explorer

I did not specify this site, I just said web page and mine works on every web page regardless.

Undoubtedly. However, we may well be using Nagravision 4 or 5 by then, or another encryption system totally.

There's a few I know who will pay and they can well afford it. They're used to having their mates round to watch the footy on the 50" TV (the one they bought off a guy in the pub - no questions asked ;)) They're used to being able to dispatch their kids to their bedrooms to watch TV. The kids aren't going to take kindly to freeview so they'll have to pay for multiple boxes too. :D[COLOR="Silver"]

Doesn't mean they'll pay for the package though. They may just go far a hacked sky card.

On another, unrelated note: Guys, the subject of the thread is chipped cable boxes. Can we stop discussing spelling and different spell checkers?

I'll watch for new satellite dishes appearing. :D They may be too busy on their expensive foreign holidays to have done their homework on hacked sky card.

FYI, you've have misspelled 'receiver' twice in your signature:-

  • 'I' before 'E' except after 'C' or when pronounced 'A' as in 'neighbour' and 'weigh' (or 'E' as in 'their' and 'heir' ...).

English is so full of exceptions its a wonder it has become the lingua franca. Or maybe it's because it's so full that you can adapt it however you want.

There are more exceptions to this rule, so it carp.

<Major OT>
Hence the '...' at the end of my non-exhaustive list of exceptions. Probably the 'sc' in 'science' is considered a diphthong (look it up yourself!) so the rule doesn't apply.

You'd think the 'lingua franca' would be French. :rolleyes:

I use Google Chrome as my primary browser these days as it seems to have a lot of features for a smaller memory footprint than Firefox. I only use IE these days when I hit a site which insists on using IE-specific ASP code. Anyway, Chrome also has a built-in spell checker which can be tailored to the appropriate flavo(u)r of English but it's really annoying not having spell-checking in Outlook Express without installing MS Office.
</Major OT>

Sorry all, I couldn't resist just one more. Typing 'now' instead of 'not' is really common in forums and I can't understand why. The letters 'T' and 'W' aren't that close on either a QWERTY or an AZERTY keyboard so it must be some mass psychological dysfunction. :eek: Super sorry, Kymmy! ;) Either that or there are more Dvořák Simplified Keyboards (where 'T' and 'W' are adjacent) out there than I thought.
</Still OT>

Right now back on topic.

Does anyone know of or heard of a dodgy box going off at all, as knowing the areas affected would make interesting reading.:D:D:D

I don't associate with the kind of person who would have such a thing so I can't help you there.

Some people may hear about such things from friends no need to know them personally.;)

I don't know if this has been asked before, but does anyone know if there is an estimate to the number of Chipped Boxes that were in use and how much it has cost Virgin?.If you go on certain Forums you would think Virgin were the Villans, being refered to as Vermin and Sky as Sly, they are all looking for a crack to Nagra, hope it never happens, my Internet is a lot faster now that all my thieving neighbours have had to go legal!

Uddingston switched over at the end of last week and the trucks have went through the roof with people plugging in the legit boxes for the 1st time in years and finding the power supplys are going etc. Techs have been offered overtime to get the lead times down.

That's my area. I'll be watching even more closely for dishes appearing now. :D

Just had a thought. We're getting a second v+ box installed on Saturday. I wonder if those who don't know us think we're thieves finally going legit when the see the VM van outside our house.

Having said that we only ordered it on Saturday so 1 week is pretty good for an installation.
