Re: New Speed Upgrades 8th March. (Part 3)

no problem, i didnt find web browsing much faster to be honest because it is pretty much instantaneous on the 750k and it is on the 2 meg

the big difference will be on downloading a file ;)

or doing a speed test...

Wow !!!
Well I've just phoned up NTL and got through straight away. No holding messages, just got through straight after pressing the menu options.
I've been told I've been upgraded and it will now take upto 24 hours to go through but could be sooner.
I cant wait !!!
She also mentioned that I dont need to reboot the cable modem so can just leave it on.

Asking about the 3gb cap and what happens if we go over, she said that you would be warned if you go over the top and it wouldnt allow you and would block you once you reach it. Hmmm, find that hard to believe.
Anyway, all in all, its looking good.

If you were told it will take upto 24 hours then I would start to worry as it should be near instantaneous.

Cheers. I'll have a play downloading later. Speed test averages about 900. Is that good?!!

Just gone on and selected 3M upgrade - done in less that 1 minute - and I didn't even lose my VPN connection when the CM rebooted - brilliant :D
Also did a speed check to verify, and it looks pretty good ...

it is my belief that you would need to reboot the modem to get the new config files immediately, otherwise you could be on the same tier for hours waiting for the modem to receive the new config file

Re: New Speed Upgrades 8th March. (Part 3)

So how am I meant to know that ?
If I turn off now and reboot it could be in the middle of downloading the new config file.
The lady said that there was no need to reboot the cable modem.

your modem requests the latest config file when you restart a modem (turning it off and back on)
