Good if you can actually get 5G. :)
I have a 5G router, and a 5G enabled SIM, but there is no 5G around here. :(

So, my first side-effect of Ozempic.

I knew it can give you an upset stomach initially and that came on about an hour ago. I felt I needed the toilet.

To quote Mickey Flanagan, I gave it the gentlest of pushes and I swear the world fell out of my arse. I felt like I was going to empty. As the great man also said, it was like emptying an old radiator.

Then funnily enough my stomach felt amazing. Not weighed myself yet but if I didn’t lose at least a quarter of a stone during that faecal explosion I’ll be very disappointed.

And I have another 3 weeks ahead of me now!

Sounds very much like the symptoms of Crohn's / Short Bowel Syndrome. The more you eat the more weight you can lose... That might sound great for those wanting to lose weight but then try putting weight on then it's quite an impossible task.

Though I never had you done as needing such a thing.

Re: What have you just bought?

It isn’t something I need, it’s something I want to do. Given my age a straightforward low calorie diet isn’t going to work considering my high protein intake (around 220g per day). I could leave things as I am and live a healthy lifestyle it’s just I figure this will be my final effort to get my waist to where I want it to be.

The only symptom this react was is a common side effect of a first-time Ozempic user.

I brought privacy screen protectors for my dad's OnePlus 9 Pro and my Google Pixel 9 Pro XL from AliExpress. Those lovely Chinese people give foolproof instructions. The application is seamless. :D delivered in a week may I say.

The strap also came for my Google Pixel watch 3 45mm. It's too bare bones for my liking. The Spigen strap is so much better :tu: still nice though :)

I wouldn’t have one myself but there is quite the market for retro kit like that.

Back in the 90s I ran the Port Talbot branch of Tandy and I’m still in touch with some of the managers now. They’ve got kit like this which they occasionally put on eBay and make a decent bit of cash from it.

When our local Tandy closed I did really well out of liquidated stock. Made good friends with the manager at the time.

A lot of people did that. They were bought out by Carphone Warehouse so a lot of stock became theirs, which they sold off but quite a few staff got their hands on some bits and pieces. I bought a radio scanner and a CB radio, which are still in my mother's attic. I figure when WW3 starts and the mobile networks go down, we're going to need some form of means of communication ;)

No idea if they're worth anything now, I did used to get the scanner out now and then, but after the emergency services went digital with their comms, there wasn't much else interesting to tune into unless you get off on listening to taxi drivers bipping on about their next pick-up.

I did once hear an unintentionally embarrassing and funny interaction between two local amateur radio enthusiasts who were arguing over who had the better equipment. Might bring the scanner out again when the Sun spots go crazy and send us signals from all over the world :)

Ah you should hear how the recording sounds Russ!!

I recorded a bit of a song from a local rock station here and then put the tape in the player I have hooked thru my sony tuner and it sounded quite good... Even playing the tape in my Crosley player sounds excellent for that!! (Most stuff sounds like crap in these newer crosley units)

It records in MONO. I mean perfect Mono......... Is there a way to find out when this came out??? (I recorded myself to test the microphone and the recording sounds excellent.... Hardily any noise from the unit!)

How can mono be perfect?

We naturally hear in stereo, and it’s how our brain processes sounds.

Then you are loosing that natural element that we hear in stereo. Sounds and instruments going between the left and right a big wide open sound stage gives you a more natural soundscape. .

15 cans of flageolet beans from Waitrose.

I was shocked at how many cans of them and other stuff on display were dented or partially crushed.

The missus filled her trolley with French origin items which were actually far cheaper than they are compared to an online site she sometimes uses. She didn't get any of their "artisanal" French breads, saying they were only good enough to hammer nails with.

A bike, a medium marin wolf ridge 6.9 140 xc

https://www.pinkbike.com/product/marin/Wolf-Ridge-6.9/

Slight different colour scheme, mine is white black orange. Bike was £200. I travelled to Tunbridge Wells to get it this morning.

I've also purchased a brand new Shimano SLX groupset 3x9 for it £270.

Also a brand new kryptonite 1055 chain bike lock £40.

They hold the charge for at least 2/3 weeks, so your fine using it 1 - 2 times a week.

I’ve yet to leave mine 2-3 weeks without a top-up but it will go a full fortnight at the beginning of July when we’re on holiday. I can let you know how it fares in mid July if that’s not too late for you. Best I can say so far is it dropped about 1-2% when I left it a week recently.

I have a Dacia Spring, which is the cheapest ‘full size’ small electric car on the market. It’s cheap as chips but great value as long as you really don’t ever need to go out of town in it.

Re: What have you just bought?

Phantom drain on EVs is very model dependant, I believe on a Tesla with sentry mode etc you can expect to see perhaps a decrease of a couple of percent every couple of days

I’ve had both my taycan and my wife’s rsq8 parked at the airport and come back after two or three weeks with zero loss to the battery

Some things you should consider

1. The quoted range ? Forget it it’s all dependant on your driving style
2. Cold weather ? Knock 20% off the quoted range
3. Many manufacturers advise to charge to 80% capacity for day to day use only charging to 100% when you’re going on a long journey
4. If you’re buying used make sure you get a battery health report , repeated rapid DC charging will over time cause the battery to degrade quicker

So for example our very first EV was an Audi q4 40 sportback

Quoted range 312 miles at 100%
Charges to 80% during summer approx: 249 miles range
Charge to 80% during winter approx:205’miles range

Driving round town you’ll can use regen to add charge back on motorways you need to be using adaptive cruise control if available.

An EV with a heatpump will also help

Ok so what the charge costs doesn't matter, off grid . More interested in how often I would need to do it . And if I need to go unexpectedly would it be good, my other car does gallons to the mile not the other way round. So use many to go to Oxford , France etc. just for a guide my little car gets a full tank twice a year. Coming up to 3 years old , done just under 1500 miles . So looking to trade in. Yes I know !!!! so something like £5,000 more than a petrol to buy , would save £90 per year in fuel costs , dearer insurance ( I have checked) add charging point say £500 not looking worth bothering with

Strange how doing/buying one thing leads to a cascade effect…

SWMBO convinced me we should have the hall, landing, stairs, and upstairs office re-decorated (new wallpaper with appropriate paint shades, all woodwork painted) - this led on to new carpets (apparently to "help brighten up the area and match the new decor better"), and we might as well replace the furniture in the upstairs office and hall as well, so ordered new solid oak desk, two drawer filing cabinet, three drawer cabinet for the office and a bureau for the hall…

Now, apparently, this makes the lounge look "faded", so we "need" to replace the lounge carpet and our 2 and 3 seat sofas with new lighter (colour) carpets and a 2 and 3 seater electric recliner sofas from Parker Knoll she’s been keen on since she saw them at her brother’s…

When it arrives I'll update you, buy it from their website it's cheaper than Amazon but it will be shipped by Amazon Logistics. https://www.aawireless.io/en/products/aawireless-two

It's a pain in the ass to have to get it out your pocket and plug it in with every journey I wish to use it on, which is 99% of journeys for me because I always want to see live traffic when driving.

The only time I plug it in is when I need to charge the phone because Bluetooth drains the battery, so a 3hr commute I will always plug it in, luckily that isn't very often.

I just got a new TomTom partly because the stand is powered and the unit connects by magnet to that, so I can remove it without playing with cables.
What I think would be good is something I could attach to a phone with a connection to the power socket on the phone. The combo connector/phone could then be attached to a mount that provides power to the adaptor.

Is there a reason you are going old school and not using android auto or apple car play? Maybe you vehicle doesn't have those features I guess.

Gold paint for a friend who could not find stocks anywhere.

He used to pay £14.95 for 250ml cans at B&Q, then they stopped selling it.

I went down a rabbit hole trying to find stocks and was tipped-off by an employee who used to make it. Some places he mentioned were asking £50+ per can, plus P+P, but one was sending it out free P+P for £10.99!!

Just tried it out, plugged it into the cars port clicked a few buttons on its phone app and that was it, so no messing around with pairing to Bluetooth I believe that was sorted via the app and I only clicked something on the cars screen once.

The proper test will be tomorrow on my 30min commute into work but so far Google maps just works and my Tidal music service sounds great, hopefully battery drainage won't be any different to my old Motorola MA1 dongle.

One of the options my old dongle didn't have is to change my car screens DPI, I wanted to try this because my screen is rather small so when Google Maps is used it doesn't display the report button, so after trial and error I now have this option.

I found 2.4kg of chilli-spiced chicken wings half price in Morrisons. I've just cooked them, and now the lad can stuff himself silly.

Cheap soldering iron and hot airgun station off AliExpress, hopefully it'll be good enough for replacing my PS5 potentiometers on a few controllers that have stick drift without me destroying the PCB tracks.

Soldering mat and PCB vice from Amazon.

My car missed those by about 6 months, I have Sync2 not Sync3. If it were 6 months newer it would have those features and this would be a no brainer.

An almost £300 online beer order for our lad. That's last him months and stop him nicking mine.

He's a very moderate, slow drinker. But he's had 4 cans of my beer this last month.

The missus made a clothing order from Temu, so I added a few bits and pieces for myself.

Enjoy the lower prices from Temu and AliExpress while you can. I fully expect Rachel "Robber" Reeves to slap some form of tax on their packages coming from China.

I've just bought a soldering iron/hotair rework station from AliExpress for £34 shipped, can't get anything like that on Amazon UK at that price, so I will be disappointed if we get screwed over.

Evri the delivery partner of AliExpress has been taken over by DHL who love ignoring declarations slapping on high fees on anything and everything. I'm sure China will find a way though.

Make them yourself for 10p a shot rather that £1.50 and you know exactly what's in it then too

They are 100% organic juice not from concentrate. Ingredients one juicy orange 51%, one large chunk of ginger 30%, one quarter of a tangy lemon 17% and one fifth of a tumeric tuber 2%. They cost 99p each.

My dad loves making fresh ginger slices in lemon juice and turmeric and some fresh lemons cut into pieces. He leaves his batches in the fridge.

I didn't select any delivery options because delivery is always FREE with the items I order, other items have been delivered by Evri a few months before though.

What's also good about AliExpress is it always pays 6% cashback with Topcashback.

A second hand Google Pixel 6 Pro 256GB. I've lost the value unless I sell it now which I'm not doing. With Google updates ending next year you'd probably be asking why I brought it. Firstly it's a secondary device. Secondly I always wanted one. Third I paid just under £150 for it. I'm chuffed with it though, it's been well looked after :D

Doesn't really make financial sense when I thought you had a Google 9 Pro XL. My secondary devices are always my old phones gathering dust in a drawer and I still never have a need to use them.

It doesn't make financial sense :tu:

I was using my OnePlus 9 Pro as a secondary device but I didn't like the support they offer. Updates are wishful thinking. Recycling have offered me around £50 for it. Prior to that I had a Xiaomi Mi4C which developed display issues, random touch points, weird but it was a fun 4G device running custom ROMs.

3 Parker Jotter fountain Pens to be exclusively used at work, that brings mine collection up to 31.

I also managed to convert 3 of the 4 people I work with to use fountain pens.

It would be impossible to convert me being left handed, we lefties have our own styles to avoid smudging so in my case my hand is above the written text.
