My internet was down for four days and was able to watch individual recordings on the 360.

Any comments about the rest:confused:

I can see no difference. Maybe the capability to add information on episodes has been added, but Virgin hasn’t enabled it yet.

Episode info is now there on my box - still on 5.14 so I'm not sure what was going on.

• Wishlists - we have that with watchlist?
• undelete - it'll just be on demand to recover?
• series link+ - recording series works fine
• series link manager- can amend series? never needed to go into that before
• suggestions - suggestions were absolutely awful!
• skip-back on fast-forward- can watch from the start of a program?
• quickview- no idea what this was never used it.
• default recording options- again i only used recording of a series or a program no idea what this is. never used it
• cancelling individual recordings from a series link- just let it record and then delete it?
• multi-channel series links- it just records everything on 360 and i delete what i dont need?
• allowing recording of radio- can stream past bbc radio shows on bbc sounds
• separation of recordings between boxes- You can filter that to show whats recorded on individual box
• watching recordings when internet is not available- this can be done
• a lot of programme info on the epg- info is absolutely fine on epg not sure about this one!!

a lot of the things you mention 1) aren't a big deal and most people have never used before or 2) things which the 360 can do its just called by a different name.

On TiVo:
Wishlists allow you to select parameters to record from all channels at once - so for example you can record ALL programmes on any channel which is (say) ACTOR BRUCE WILLIS
Undelete - a lot of stuff is never available on demand or via any app
Series Link + is where you can select a single series link for NEW only, all or old for a particular programme - whatever channel it airs on.
Series link manager - allows a series to get a higher priority over another if short on tuners at a particular time.
Suggestions - yes - they were awful.
Skip back - this is when you stop a fast forward at the point you see is required then the unit rewinds a few seconds so it actually starts at the point your saw.
Recording of radio - it was not just BBC I was recording

Techincally the 360 is better and seems faster software - but is missing a lot of useful features.

But they ain't coming back

'All fur coat and no knickers' sums the 360 up. Might appeal to those who like looks over function ( and love Apple products for the same reason).

I find Quickview very useful. E.g say you want to watch the film 'Cleopatra', but don't have 4 hours spare. Quickview let you see it in 2.5 hours without affecting audio or losing content. The 360 won't get this, it's Tivo patented.

360 has a default recording option in Settings -System-Recording settings

Re: Virgin TV (2024)

As well as all that, it is worth mentioning that the early issues some had with the 360 have long since been resolved. You can, in fact, select certain programmes in a series link not to record. Just go to recordings under ‘View All’ or select ‘Episodes’ and delete what you don’t want.

Suggestions are also available on the 360, it’s just not called that. Instead, you go to ‘Recommended for you’ on the Home page and the programmes highlighted in this section are far more relevant to me than ‘Suggestions’ ever were.

There are default recording options on the 360, but I can’t remember what these options were on the TiVo. I dare say they are pretty similar.

As for programme information on the EPG, to the best of my recollection, the same information appears on the 360 as for the TiVo.

So most of the features people on here believe that the 360 doesn’t have, are in fact there, but with sometimes a different means of accessing them.

In addition, of course, the 360 has profiles (a ‘must have’ unless you live alone), more apps and voice control.

It is faster than the TiVo, and there’s no lagging or freezing.

If you are using your remote in a darkened room, the keys light up.

As for the wishlists, it is true to say that if there are no shows matching your search on the system, the 360 won’t show it. But if it is somewhere on the system, it will find if for you. I have just searched for the director Alfred Hitchcock and is has come up with 27 results.

Yes, some things are different, but no two systems are exactly the same. The 360 certainly isn’t the downgrade that some of you make it out to be. Although the TiVo was good when I had it, I wouldn’t go back to it now.

As a point of interest, I have two 360 boxes converted from V6s. I could record 12 programmes simultaneously if I wished. Actually, I have never needed to record more than three at any one time - and that was only because of overlaps.
