Not just a question at you 2k10, just a general question :)

Gizmodo HTML5 support will also bring with it the introduction of an app store to the TiVo platform. Though it's yet to be named, it will be built using Opera's App Store as its foundation, and will house many on-demand apps such as Vimeo, and Virgin's time-sensitive themed content portals.
So according to this article, Opera is just the software which powers the app store. Maybe people misinterpreted this as suggesting Opera was coming?

And if they do come, people will only moan because they are slow to load.

I don't get this obsession with people wanting loads of apps on Tivo. given the 5 or so year replacement cycle. Get the right tool for the job, such as a Roku, which has a much more frequent update cycle.

Hopefully if there is a new TiVo and that's a big if it should be much faster all round.

I think that a lot of the anticipated apps were simply not developed but a rash statement for the VM person to have made at the time
We do know that www.hayu.com is #coming soon. Wonder if there are any other deals planned with Hayu's owners, NBC Universal?:handshake

For a couple of years. Then the 'it's too slow' complains will start. It's a case of 'Horses for courses'

Unless, of course, the powers that be decide that it's a good idea to future proof it and install a bit more memory!
