I had been reading through their Twitter feed. They mentioned a few days ago they had made an approach for the fight.

Boxnation tweeted the following yesterday in reply to someone asking if they are showing the fight on Saturday:

"Hopefully mate, although we haven't heard anything yet. If we do, we'll tweet it out. Cheers."

I suppose this doesn't mean they've actually made a bid. I was reading on one of the boxing forums that only Boxnation have shown an interest in showing the fight.

Fingers crossed!

"Warren revealed he will make a major funding announcement for his subscription boxing channel BoxNation on Monday."

I wonder if BT will have anything to do with this?

what does funding announcment mean?

---------- Post added at 18:18 ---------- Previous post was at 18:05 ----------

id like it to be that the channel is being funded by sky and changing to sky boxing and they then get deals with goldenboy toprank and we get to see every good show from abroad and uk but i dont think its that,it could be bt vision putting money in to create boxnationHD??

It could be that someone has invested in the channel. Maybe BT have bought a stake in the company however this is probably unlikely. Maybe it's an investment opportunity. Boxing fans can by a share in the channel. Whatever it is I hope it means they can launch in HD and cover more boxing content.

I've just watched the press conference myself:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJ_wYLXAvj8

14:00mins into the video Frank states:

"There will be an announcement from Boxnation tomorrow concerning funding"

He seems pretty chuffed with himself. He also states at 18:00mins:

"You'll see tomorrow that Boxnation are turning a big corner."

Rumours are now rife in the land of boxing forums. One suggestion is BT have invested and will offer the channel as part of their own sports package from the summer. Another suggestion is Golden Boy have invested in the channel as part of their UK expansion. Remember it wasn't too long ago The Guardian suggested BT were after Boxnation.

Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?

Really bad news for boxing fans, especially those who don't have SKY Sports or Boxnation.

Channel 5 are set to drop boxing from their programming. Channel 5 last week had an internal review of their programming, especially sport, and it looks like boxing is the victim.

http://www.worldboxingnews.net/news/...eubank-jr.html

Frank Maloney was interviewed last night and broke the news. Watch from 2 mins 20 secs:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=q8pUoWV35Lg

Hennessy Sports have confirmed next weeks James DeGale Vs. Alexander Brand fight, which was due to be televised by Channel 5, has been cancelled:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=q8pUoWV35Lg

If true this leaves Tyson Fury, James DeGale, Chris Eubank and Kid Galahad without a TV home. Mick Hennessey has very limited options. SKY don't want him but they do want his fighters. Eddie Hearn recently landed Groves and Burns. Could Fury, DeGale and Eubank be next at Matchroom?

Mick Hennessey could move to Boxnation or try and hold out for the launch of BT Sports in the sumnmer. However Ricky Hatton found himself in the same boat 8 months ago and still doesn't have a broadcast deal for his stable.

Very grim!

Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?

Well it wasn't a deal with BT in the end:

http://www.hl.co.uk/shares/aim-and-s...nnel-boxnation

"Media Corp., an AIM-listed online gaming company, said Wednesday it has entered an exclusive agreement with Boxing Channel Media to supply betting services to its TV channel, BoxNation.

The three-year deal marks the firm's first white label contract win - enabling it to capitalise on its Intabet software platform on a revenue sharing basis.

Media Corp. will provide the platform for an internet sportsbook and casino to be integrated with the BoxNation website, offering a full range of sports betting and casino games, with an emphasis on boxing.

Through the servie users will be able to place bets through the proposed BoxNation betting platform.

Phil Jackson, Chairman of Media Corp, said: "This represents the first application of our white label service. We are delighted to win the contract to deliver betting and, over time, casino products to the only dedicated boxing channel in the world.

"BoxNation has a large and growing subscriber base and we believe boxing and betting go hand in hand and we are looking forward to developing a profitable and long term relationship with BoxNation as they grow into a leading sports channel around the world."

The deal is subject to an initial feasibility assessment period of three months.

The share price leapt 25% to 0.15p by 08:55."

Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?

Intresting info in an e-mail I've just received from Boxnation.

"George Groves to feature on undercard!

Saturday night will also see the return of George Groves to B0xNation screens! He fights Syrian born Baker Barakat in an 8 round contest, which, assuming he wins could be the springboard to challenge the winner of Abraham vs Stieglitz later in the year. Barakat won't make it easy for Groves, however - his 54 fight experience (37-13-4) will mean he'll be used to a number of different styles and fighters. Tune in early to catch the Hammersmith star try and make it 18 wins out of 18."
