EXCLUSIVE FROM Paris. Thierry Henry has been named as captain to spearhead France's challenge for the Rugby 6 nations championship in 2010. French spokesperson Jendorse Le cheats said "clearly handling skills such as Thierry is capable of will be of grande benefit to us"

Why do reports always say controversial when it isn't. I don't anyone can argue it was a goal.

Didn't Anelka once play for Arsenal, to quote that well known football sage Russ," once an Arsenal cheat" .....;)

Practically half the France team either play or played for Arsenal and that's been the case for the last 10 years. Congratulations on finally noticing that.

Did you know Arsene Wenger is French?

Same as Russia, i'm also disappointed Egypt didn't qualify, they have a great squad are can play some great football. But Algeria certainly aren't a bad substitute.

after tonight.. Thierry Henry.. Legend status? Revoked

250+ Goals dont give him the right to cheat..

Ever see Pele use his hand to get a goal
Shearer?
Lineker?
Maradonna .. Oh nevermind

Goals dont make you a legend.. a heart for the game makes you a legend.. Henry has shown us now all he cares about is a paycheck hence the move to barca in the first place

Bring back players like Shearer and Lineker... Players who wee proud to wear any football shirt wether the team was trophyless or pennyless

Nope. Almost every player has done things like this. As you said Maradonna is still a legend of a player, a rubbish manager but a legend of a player. Henry has won almost Every Major Spanish, British, and World Trophy.

He moved because he didn't want to be the 'main' player at Arsenal in the way it was, to had too much pressure, and because he (correctly) thought he would have a better chance of winning the trophy that most alluded him. The Champions League.

I don't recall Maradonna willing a Scottish League Cup winners medal and there may be other major British Trophies he didn't win too. ( Did he even play in the Welsh Premier League) ;) :D

.... the same applies to Thierry

As the saying goes "Don't hate the player, hate the game" or is that a saying for something else.

Sorry, Meant England. Not Wales and Scotland, who have something in common with Ireland now. They are not going to the World Cup :D

No it wasn't. Although I doubt he could have gotten to it. Still a penality in this crazy game though.

The higher than mighty faux outrage is basically a load of *******s.

Any player would try and help their team win a match like that, at any cost. This isn't just some run of the mill match, it's a make or break, once in a lifetime match which literally has the hopes of millions on the players shoulders. To suggest Henry's handball has anything to do with money is plain illogical. As is the notion he's no longer a legend or decent person.

If an English or Irish player had done the same (ignore the fact English players obviously never cheat), that's all we'd be hearing; they did it for their country! But no, as it was a dirty Frenchman, it's the act of Satan.

At least it's given an oppurtunity for people to dish out a good bit of old fashioned francophobia.

Are you saying it's ok for a player to cheat, as long as it's in a big game?

I'm suprised people are sticking up for him, but on the other hand it doesn't suprise me those people are Arsenal fans. I wonder what their reactions would be if it was Ronaldo in Henry's position?
