If anyone is living close enough to it, my illustrious employers 118UK are taking on :)

(those are the guys who provide the 11 88 88 service, wth the advert containing the cartoon with the 'superheros' jumping over buildings wittering "We'll save you!" :))

Can I add my sympathy to those who are being made redundant.

It's not a nice experience (I'd like to thank Texaco for making it a nightmare for me and the other 167 site managers they decided were surplus to requirments).

An advert that's only marginally less annoying than those two ugly blokes in the 118118 ad (a service that I'd never phone simply because their ad pi$$es me off so much!)

Although I can't phone 118888 either because NTL are being really childish and only allowing access to *their* directory enquiries services and telling people that all the others are "not yet available" (or, when I phoned up to ask, they said "they aren't being supplied by those companies yet"!)

So much for "free and fair competition"!!

What's the number for the ntl Directory enquiries?

Munkeh 06-07-2003 01:04

hmmmm... sounds like the Newport project "nero" to me...

my sympathies to those that are out..

no doubt some managerial type is getting a bonus somehwere :(

Basic is £12k and yes, it's above Iceland in High Street.

To keep this on topic, if anyone wants to know more, please PM me.

Is that your way of showing sympathy? or compasion for the people who are being made redundant??
It's a delicate subject, and tempers running high because of it.

Any losses of jobs by redundancy are generally announced in the local newspaper through a press release by the company.

I have allways felt on these sad occassions in ntl, that the company has tried it's best to keep things low key and tell as few people as possible.

The 96 jobs are a considerable number and when added to the dribs and drabs that have been quietly made redundant since the last big shake up, it amounts to a lot more redundant than figures suggest.

I know from speaking to people in ntl over the last two years, I have been told things like quote "People are dissapearing daily" and "remember Fred Bloggs? he was made redundant last week etc" Remember these also add up and save the company giving the true story!
