Re: Hub 5 at no extra cost

I sent a message to VM wishing to express my interest in the Hub 5 and this was their response..

Hi Paul, I see that you are interested in the new Hub 5 equipment. I can understand your excitement. We will soon be releasing the equipment as a selective upgrade. But at the moment it is still in testing stage so only a few customers have been sent a personal email to sign up for the trial and avail the hub to try the features and inform our concerned team about any pros and cons of the equipment and performance.

We will make it public as soon as we are able to do a selective upgrade for the equipment on the online account, website and also through emails.

We do not have any certain forms to fill in to add you on the trial, but I will leave a note on your account that you are interested in the trial so they would check your account for the criteria consider you for the next phase if eligible. I hope that would be okay with you?

Hmm. They never mentioned a trial or wanting any feedback on Hub 5's performance from me. All I got in the email was this, and I claimed it: https://prnt.sc/1wmqr6o

They have however asked me to send back the old Hub 3, which I did, in the same box the Hub 5 came in using the included pre-paid Yodel label.

When Hub 5 boots up, this happens: https://prnt.sc/1xi98gx

Nothing can make it go away, only another reboot fixes it.

Interesting since I've never been able to amend anything on the website in all my years with Virgin Media. I just get a message telling me to call customer services. I can't even get a price for changing things. Selective upgrade indicates that they might try and charge for it or have an installation fee.

I was told the reason I was getting that was my contract wasn't digital, since phoning up a few years ago I don't get that issue.

I was told the offers + upgrades section doesn't work if you're on any form of discount/special offer....

Seems like they are lying to some of us!

This is the impression I get too re: discounts/retentions deals. For the past couple of years I haven't been able to see any offers but the last time I did, taking any offers seemed to involve the removal of the discounts on my account, so it was actually a deterrent to upgrading.

For example, I had only broadband at that point and the 'offer' in my online account to add a landline (basic weekend calls only) was an extra £30 per month - more than doubling my monthly bill. So, in my experience, if there aren't any offers in your account you're not missing out - they'd be ridiculous offers anyway.

This is my experience too.

Although I have phoned retentions while in contract who have been able to make a change while keeping my offers.

It's not great that minimum latency is flat lining on my hub3 graph in router mode and yours is all over the place.

Well maybe, maybe not. It would be good to compare 2pence hub 3 graph as if the latency spikes are present there too on a normal day, it could just an area thing (utilisation etc)

We'll need to see several before and after graphs from a range of different users to make any conclusions

From my memory, I believe my hub 2 had minimum latency spiking, but I could have dreamt that
