No comment necessary, really. The TV channels were not exactly falling over themselves for La Liga, were they?

A nice cheap way to fill the ITV4 channel schedule, I guess.

As ever with Old Boy there's a reasonable grasp of facts coupled with pretty poor analysis and the wrong conclusion.

Sky/BT weren't falling over themselves mainly because Eleven demonstrated how little value the rights had. There's no mass appetite from the public to pay £6 or £8 a month more for what is ultimately minority interest content.

The rights used to have value because of the great 'unknown' of what would happen. Now we know.

Amazon could have snapped it up but of course the same old song played out...

looks like you can only watch La Liga on the TV. Tried TV Go and ITV Hub and both say Programme not available on this platform.

I thought that was pretty much what I was getting at, old bean.

Probably is, being Spanish and all that, but Im sure they'd really want to catch the big one, which we all know is the EPL!

I’d assume the all mighty all powerful Amazon, with deep pockets, would want compelling content from all over the world. The Premier League isn’t the compelling content in other territories that some seem to think it is. It’s not going to sell millions of Prime subscriptions in Spain, for example.

You know that for a fact then, do you?

Looked through the schedules for the weekend, but couldn't see any sign of la liga coverage on itv4.

Has it started yet?

Yes. In other countries it’s minority interest content.

In Germany they watch German football, in Italy they watch Italian football... and so on.

That may be, however EPL is very strong in countries that don't have a half decent league of their own.
