Going up to 10p for a single use plastic bag and it will be rolled out to every shop.

These bags should not have the stores name on it.

I don't want to have to pay to advertise

Seeing as they manufactured it....(feel free to go buy a brand free version of them if you feel like it).

Not a expert at law but apparently if they have their name on the bag they should not be charging for it.

According to what??

What prevents them for charging for it if they have their name on it exactly??

I often see ASDA bags used in Tesco, Tesco bags in Sainsburys. Bags in Waitrose are gilt with the owners monograms and family crests...

As l say l am not a expert on these matters Chloe but if their bags have their name on it that is classed as free advertising thus they should not be charging for it.

Ummm so if I buy a bag I should expect for them not to put the brand on it, because otherwise it is free advertising?

Re: The 5p bag charges...

Simplest way to nullify advertising is to turn the bag inside out.

Yeah, if the customer is not happy with it anyway.

Yeah most folks from Yorkshire usually do. They are not bad with potatoes and carrots, too. Not too much else, mind you. ;)

I keep the car boot well stocked with old shopping bags from various supermarkets.

It should also be noted that Aldi and Lidl have always charged for bags .
