Whoever said you slow up in old age obviously never told Murdoch this.....

If true:

Fox Kids may relaunch in UK and Ireland (with Cartoon Network name being axe).

But will not happen as RM will own (If takeover happen) CNN and Fox News in the US.

I should add that the other main media players like Comcast are also looking at buying Time Warner, even Google are considering a bid.

John Malone is at the summer camp too...

The Time Warner Cable/Comcast deal has yet to be approved, so not a dead cert yet. But it seems the Americans are back in mega merger mode. You have cable tv companies, satellite tv companies (Dish & Direct tv), telephone & mobile companies (AT&T, Verizon etc ) and the big five media giants (Disney, Viacom/CBS, News Corp, Comcast, Time Warner) all looking at further "consolidation".

What implications could this have for VM customers if it goes ahead?

I just delete them all, I guess I could just turn the feature off :)

If they could make the Tivo slightly quicker when moving between screens, that would also be a bonus ;)

Totally Agree! However ther is no need to delete them or turn off the feature as Tivo automatically deletes them if space is needed. They are not included in the percentage space figure which is shown.

Whether this goes ahead or whether its some other mega combination over there. I think the implications for us in the UK, rather than specifically VM customers, is that we'll get further consolidation here too at some point.

I've long said on forums that I believe the UK will end up with 3 or 4 large media/telecoms companies consisting of a terrestrial tv channel, broadband network, mobile network, newspapers & magazines, film and whatever else they can chuck in. And of those 3 or 4 companies, I'm hoping that one will remain entirely British controlled.

Viacom now owns Ch5. ITV could be a target next and the BBC and Ch4 could be targets or predators, if privatised.

If most US tv and film content is in the hand of just a few companies (the big 5 control most of it already) it will put pressure on UK operators when deals for channel carriage agreements come up, content deals etc.

John Malone is buying up UK content not for no reason, neither is Murdoch. Both if them now control a vast chunk of "independent" tv production in this country.

True, but I consider it a done deal in my opinion. There are no competition concerns. But until it's done it ain't done, so you're right to highlight that.
