Look like More4 HD will only be on Sky from late January 2013.

WOW! Another nail in the ESPN coffin. Really surprised as ESPN only agreed a deal with NBA last month. SKY showing Basketball in 3D, that should be good.

http://www.espn.co.uk/more/sport/story/182516.html

Also BBC extended their coverage of the BDO World Championships until 2016. ESPN the pay broadcaster of the even did not.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/darts/20917631

How long do people think ESPN have left? I reckon the 31st May will be their last day.

Looking forward to having access to BBC One Scotland in HD. BBC One Scotland have the rights to Scotland away internationals through to the end of the qualifying campaign.

Come on Chad don't you think its a bit far fetched in thinking ESPN will end on the 31st of May.

I can see the end of ESPN (as we know it) on that date with ESPN Classic and ESPN becoming one so that ESPN can show old things like Scotland beating England in 1967 when no live Sports - if they have any left - is not being shown.

I think it's very plausible. All Europa League, SPL, Premiership and FA Cup commitments for this season would have been fulfilled by the 31st May. All European football commitments should also have been fulfilled with BT Vision taking over the rights. The Premiership Rugby season ends in May with BT Vision taking over the rights. The NBA finals should take place early June however it looks like SKY have the rights to this. ESPN, come the end of May, will have very little live action for June and July. ESPN America however should be fine.

Same here, I just want to relax when I watch television, not be bothered with subtitles!

Re "refute the allegations" - you could have found this out for yourself, rather than repeating baseless innuendo; since you couldn't be bothered, you then tried to weasel out of it - repetition of lies is almost as bad as the initial utterance.

You say pedantic - I called it fact-based discussion; you should try it, you may like it.

You are entitled to your opinion, but my choice of vocabulary remains unchanged. I found it heartwarming to know that even this particular channel believed that this would be a step too far.

This is an informal forum to chat about various issues, not a legal statement or an essay submission in an exam.

I stated what people had written on the Current TV facebook page, nothing more, nothing less. I made no claims that any of the allegations had been verified in any way. If I had attempted to put forward these statements as fact, you would then have had a point.

People were free to discuss/challenge any inaccuracies as they saw fit, as indeed you did regarding one of the allegations.

My accusation that you were being unnecessarily pedantic related to your fixation on the word "confirmed".

This link has some interesting information about the country that funds Al Jazeera.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/expat/exp...t-country.html

They have money to burn and money talks, to such an extent that they can afford to buy their way onto the VM platform to show a news channel that has their own agenda/bias.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2012...estioned-qatar

Al Jazeera claims editorial independence from the government of Qatar, but many dispute this.

I don't believe that they are gradually increasing their presence on British TV platforms with this channel for the fun of it.

Mistrust and fears of propaganda has led to many American cable customers seeing Current TV disconnected as a result of the channel being bought out by Al Jazeera.

The mistrust and fear is raised by people repeating falsehoods on forums and blogs, and these calumnies being treated as facts.

Pity these Americans don't treat Fox News or Glenn Beck the same way - I wonder why....

Richard you seem to have some issues but I'm not sure if it's with the channel, the country of origin or a mixture of both. I can't work out why you try and whip yourself and others in to a frenzy of something which most people think is nothing more than trivial. Thinking about it, it looks like you've got an issue with neither of the above but have an issue with the whole region as now you've had your Saudi reference corrected you've done some digging to try and put down the correct country. If you've got an issue, you should stop beating aroud the bush (and cross posting) and just come out and tell us what it is.

Cheers

Wow - when did this thread get all political, might have to pop back more often. No new channels I see but this is much better :)

I think you may be right, GUN.

For instance, I pointed out to Richard that some of his statements (posted in this thread early on the 4th January, and posted four minutes later on DS) regarding AJ were misinformed - I rebutted these on the 4th January, at 07:31.

Strangely enough, the next day on DS (nearly 36 hours after I had pointed out his erroneous assumptions), he asked someone on DS (who had said Richard's claims, made on here and DS, were "Ridiculously untrue") which of his claims (beheading, 9/11 celebration, etc) were untrue - even though I had supplied this information on this forum....:erm:

I am very concerned that a foreign channel, with it's own agenda, may have bought it's way into British homes to pump out Qatar Government propaganda.

It does seem to have wandered from the topic of "Coming soon to VM".

There is a more appropriate thread to discuss Al Jazeera here:

You would think ESPN would require the rights to the Brazilian League for another season to help fill the football void when the European leagues finish.

I thought ESPN signed a 5 year deal with the SPL last year? Unless someone buys them out of their contract they will be obliged to continue to cover SPL games at least. Hopefully without English football, SPL fans will not be asked to attend to many 12pm games totally daft time for a game to kick off. Daft time for a game to kick off.
