Re: Adverts on Music on Demand

I can not see what the problem is? If you watch Music videos on say VEVO you get the adverts at the beginning of the videos?
What they could do is say right when you start in music on demand you will get a video at the start of the first video and then every 3 to 5 videos. This is just IMHO:erm::erm:

Yes but VEVO is free to use , XLTV is not.

I am also paying for this service but quite frankly it is unfit for purpose!

Same here, saw the same trailer 6 times out of 6 music videos watched. On every video the first 5 seconds were silent, tried rewinding but still no luck. There appears to be a glitch in the transition from the trailer to the video which affects the audio. Have given up now on what used to be a 'killer' VM feature for me. As an XL customer I don't want to see adverts. Can't believe how VM have managed to ruin something that just worked perfectly before.

OK it seems that now a-lot of customers out there are not happy about the adverts on the Music on demand section. But is this the correct time to get out the pitchforks and torches and vilify VM. They are a company trying to make money and if this is one of the ways that they are able to do it all the best to them.

I'am ready for all the flak that I'am about to receive about this post, Buthttps://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2011/06/15.gif

Re: Adverts on Music on Demand

As I said the fact that every video I watched the other night carried the same advert followed by an absence of audio of the thing I was trying to watch was monotonous and frankly very poor service.

It has nothing to do with VM earning revenue, because that level of service will actually generate bad experiences and ultimately drive custom away.

Let us remember that the advert in question was for Filmflex - so a self-referential advert. Do VM really believe that this sort of spamming will endear them to me??

People will vote with their feet , if they get fed up with what they are paying for they will go else where.

This is very true:D:D:D But I would have a FOC service with adverts than having a premium service. Just look at SPOTIFY and what they do. Also if they came to VM which would anyone rather have:confused:

Re: Adverts on Music on Demand

We used MusicOD daily and it was great when we had friends round and "show off" what Virgin offered, one of my friends lives in a non cable area, she would often say she'd love to have MusicOD.
After seeing the same ad over and over and the audio absence at the start of the videos she noted how "crap" the serice had become.

If there needs to be ads, they should be one every 4-5 videos, and DIFFERENT ads too.

Re: Adverts on Music on Demand

The straight fact is that the service is not practically usable in its current format. My kids used to put music vids on a lot, and really enjoyed the service. Now they have to wait or skip the ad at the begininning and they stopped using the service.

I didn't even know whey they had stopped using the service until I found out later about the ads and asked them.

They voted with their feet I guess, when they used to dance with them (as MJ would say "OW!")

Re: Adverts on Music on Demand

Personally myself i am none too keen on the ads on music on demand i take a fairly simple view on the matter which is i pay a sub to get content rather like i pay a "sub" to the BBC in the form of a license, that to me should cover the cost of the content without the need to view adverts,if i say only want to watch a single track to have to sit through an ad for a 4 minute track is irrittating to say the least.

Re: Adverts on Music on Demand

I've recently had a TV package added to my subscription because i'd missed not having all the on demand stuff but after 2 days of using it i'd had enough of the same ads over and over again. Almost every music video i watched started with the tron legacy trailer and every episode of 30 rock started with that annoying J-lo razor add, it was driving me insane so ive stopped using it.

I expect adds on a free service but like others have said, this is NOT a free service???
