Meanwhile, Col. Gadaffi seems to have employed Comical Ali, erstwhile Iraqi Information Minister, to handle his Press office. Tripoli is still insisting that there is a ceasefire and it is in no way attacking rebels in Benghazi or anywhere else.

An International Coalition agreement including Britain, France and Arab states. including US back up have agreed at a Paris Summit today to take immediate Military action on Gaddafi forces, this is on the basis that UN resolution calls for immediate ceasefire yesterday have been breached.

French Military Planes over Libya now and Associated Press are reporting that the French have opened fire on Gaddafi Military. :erm:

There is a Naval blockade also in force around Libya with the UK's HMS Westminster Naval ship currently in the Mediterranean seas around Libya alongside French and US war ships.

I can't help wondering whether one of the Tornadoes flying down from Scotland has a post-it on its dashboard with a note of Abdulbasset al-Megrahi's home address.

probably not as thats not a "military" target but more political so for now its just tanks, arty, choppers and planes then seeing what happens with the rebels as they might grow some balls and use the coalition planes to their advantage

I know he's not a military target ... but if I were him I'd be making very, very sure to stay at least 50 miles away from anyone, or anything, that might be.

yeah in fairness he should leave the military base he is residing... but then he hasnt got the protection of his "presidential guard" so will be very vulnerable in Tripoli

I wonder - Lying Gadaffi government or PR stunt went wrong?

More on that aircraft ... it is now generally accepted to have been a rebel jet, brought down by pro-Gadaffi anti-aircraft fire.

I think it's a bit of a stretch to claim it was being flown around Benghazi waiting to get shot down though. What would be the point? Gadaffi started shelling Benghazi first thing this morning, as well as a number of locations in the west. It was obvious to anyone with half a brain cell that there was never a real ceasefire on the ground.

Besides all that, the pilot was almost certainly killed - it's clear he ejected very late and his chute wasn't open. You would have thought he would have been sat ready to bail out at the first whiff of a SAM had getting shot down been his intention.

Just reported on Sky News:- Military action stepped up a few notches last 30 minutes - U.S launches Missiles from Warship at Libya targets, mainly anti-aircraft weapons and Prime Minister David Cameron just confirmed British forces are now in action in Libya not sure if this is War planes, foot soldiers or other military assets.

The only boots will be SAS ones. The main British action will be in the air. Reports say we're bombing Tripoli now.

Agree - rumour has it that our armed forces are just a tad stretched at the moment....
