Re: roomsnet.com warning
Persistence! I went through a phase of emailing and calling Amanda Walsh but did feel a bit bad as she has technically left the company. I emailed roomsnet everyday and was just lucky I think. It took me 4 Weeks though to get the refund and they have said to me there is still a back log of refunds they have to process.
I cannot believe that they are still doing this though. I think someone called Michael is now in charge so try emailing help@roomsnet.com and ask for him explaining what you had been told and what's happened. They seem to respond it just takes them a long time to sort things out. I'd book somewhere else before you go so you don't get shafted when you're out there as paying at reception is so much more expensive than booking online, just use an ABTA or ATOL protected site. Travel Republic are brilliant and helped us when we got stranded in Salou. Good Luck! |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
the agent i spoke to last night was michael ??? and he said it had been paid for ?so i have just sent them a nasty email saying i dont like being lied to we will see what happens now .when they refunded you did they ask for all your bank details ? were you not worrid that they could have taken all your money out of your bank ? just booked with travel republic but we go tomorrow morning so its fingers crossed our confirmation gets here in time as all there computers have gone down and she said if i dont get my vouchers on time they will have to refund my money ??
---------- Post added at 16:27 ---------- Previous post was at 16:16 ---------- just recieved a email from them and they said they were sorry and they had only had a few cases of things going wrong and they will refund my money in around 2 weeks ?? we will see |

Re: roomsnet.com warning
Hi everyone,
I was conned by Roomsnet also. I have also received an email (just a few days ago) from roomsnet telling me I will be refunded in 2 weeks, I'll hold them to it though!! However could I advise people who booked through Visa Debit Card to try their bank again. After speaking to the financial ombudsman and Trading Standards, who both advised me of the same thing, apparently debit card holders should also be entitled to a refund from their card issuer. Just ring up the bank and tell them you would like to make a claim through "the charge back scheme" saying that you paid for a service which you never received - (they quoted section 75 of the regulations whatever that means!!) - but they were adamant that by law we are still entitled to a refund. Now I haven't tried this yet as I booked off someone else's card and need to chat to them first to get them to ring their bank but if anyone else it stuck and would like to have a go, it's worth a try!! |

Re: roomsnet.com warning
You are fantastic Cathyf I will try this tomorrow and let you know. Why should it be different if you use your credit or debit card. The bank should still have a loyalty of care to its customers to stop people like this scaming so many hard working people out there. I hope that everyone keeps going till something is done about this it really helps speaking to others in the same boat.
Just wish it hadn't happened to anyone of us x:shocked: |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
having seen your website i have just received a telephone call for help(i am travel agent with co-op travel group) from 16 persons stranded in benidorm who arrived today 7th OCT with no rooms available.
They are booked with roomsnet.com and i hyave tried speaking to them but they are giving clients money back(so they say). I have investigated further and have spoken to the hotel and also servigroup customer services(owners of hotel)and they have confirmed that rooms.net have gone into liquidation and all contracts with the hotel are null and void. I have also spoken to the wholesaler in spain who i have dealt with for years (hotelbeds.com)and they have confirmed the same thing along with another agency. Roomsnet.com are now answering from sri lanka so beware as they have no ABTA cover or ATOL cover in the uk. I would contact your banks asap and put them on warning as they may be able to claw funds back. Any assistance you need please call and i will help you in any way i can. regards colin gattours uk 01283 535610 |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
Colin,
Are you absolutely sure that you really want to publish your telephone number on a site that is open to the entire world to read, and offer assistance in this manner? Are you sure that your employers (I'm assuming you're not self employed) will be quite happy for you to do this? If you're positive then fair enough, and fair play to you, but I would urge you to consider very carefully what you're doing. If you want it removed please let me know and I'll edit the post and take it out. |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
I'm sorry to see more people are still being ripped off by roomsnet since i started this thread on cable forum and on other forum sites. All I can say to people is ( at the risk of sounding repetative) is contact your hotel/aprtments direct before you go on holiday, the quicker you do this the quicker you can get booking elsewhere if you need to and get the ball rolling for refunds. Please contact your bank/card issuer ASAP. Keep at roomsnet via any way possible.
Contact your local trading standards office and the bbc watchdog programme and anyone else you can think off that can help. I've been lucky and got my money back through visa but i am not letting this drop. We all need a cause and this is mine. People work hard for that 1 or 2 weeks away and to have it snatched away at the last minute is not on. Keep at it and we should ALL get our money back. |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
I wish I had seen this site before I booked in May for myself and 5 other senior citizens. We arrived at our hotel on the 28th Sept. 2009 to find they had not been paid and I had to pay more to the hotel that the original payment to roomsnet. I have emailed them tonight and have informed my credit card company. I booked with them last year and had no problems.

I contacted them again, sent them proof of the money I had to pay and now i'm awaiting a full refund. I recieved an email from them today. ofcourse I expect compensation too. They say that they had some kind of computer glich and are putting in a new system.... they apparently cannot tell which bookings have gone through and which ones are cancelled. If you need to get through to them call them between at 8 & 9 am, that's the best time...otherwise they are really busy and you won't get through. Will let you know if I get a refund. I would be absolutely livid if I paid more than I did, lucky for me I only paid £125.00. Had it been a two week booking i would have been sleeping on the beech! The company should have sent an email out to every who booked with them to let them know there was possiblitly of the booking being cancelled. They ruined hundreds of people's family holidays and quick breaks. I will not be booking with them again and I also found out today that they are not ATOL or ABTA protected which means if they go bust you loose your money. |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
So I'm not alone! Found this site when Googling for rooms.net problems. I had the same issue early September when we arrived in Ibiza. It was same story as most of ya guys. Luckily for me, hotel had some additional room so I didn't have to sleep outside in the streets! But I had to pay £185 extra for the three nights, than the rate I booked with rooms net. I immediately called the emergency number, but no one really there to answer my call. When I return from holiday, I received a mail from them asking "hope you had an enjoyable stay!!!!!" I replied to that mail in plain English, asking for my mony back. Three days later I got a reply saying, my money is being refunded and it will be in my account within 3 business days. Now after one month, I'm still waiting for my money. I'm relieved to see there's some more ppl fighting to get the money back from them.

Re: roomsnet.com warning
Hi Andy,
I scanned all my documents proof of paying them and the hotel, attached to an email and sent it to them. They don't tell you until you call that you would need to send them proof. I am going to wait 9 days as stated in part of their email below. If and once I get the refund I shall be calling them for conpensation. Can you imagine how many holidays have been ruined by this company! They messed with the wrong woman!!! email from roomsnet.com: As agreed by our agents we are refunding the full amount of the booking as stated on the bills, please allow 7-9 days for the refunds to appear on your statement. Please accept our apology for any inconvenience caused. Thank You Regards Andrew RoomsNet Customer Support www.roomsnet.com |
